Hotel Astor is situated in the very center of Athens, in a nice and secure area. Although it should be rated as 3star, not 4star hotel (need redecoration and thorough cleaning), its position, staff and simply AMAZING VIEW to Acropola from its restorant on the 10th floor make it a perfect choice for both turist and business travellers. As a single female traveler, I would definetely choose it again.

The hotel is undergoing what appears to be major refurbishment (Feb 07), this would have been good to know before booking. The hotel had a general feeling of tired grubbiness ( laminates peeling and rubbish on the stairwell that hadn't been cleared away by the time I checked out next day at noon) though the room itself was clean, if you ignored the curtains which badly required washing/stain removal. Rather poor customer handling at check-in (Saturday) but efficient at check-out the next day, so may have been a one-off.

Rooms and public areas very very dirty. Moquette old and worn. Sofas in the lobby with spots of dirt. Food served for breakfast not adequate to the rating of the hotel.

Everyone at the Astor gave us very good service and were always friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated the arrangements made for us to get to the port and back to the airport exactly as promised. We loved the top floor restaurant and the amazing view.

Our Room, declared as "no smoking" was heaily smelling of smoke. Towels and linen were old and with holes. There were no view on the Acropolis, from our room.... actually there were non view at alll (!), just a wall. It's a lot for 91 €... Otherwise, location is good, the breakfast with a good choice, but all hot beveages were to be made. EXCELLENT view from the breakfsta room on the top, on the Acropolis and Athen.

Good spacious rooms and good location with amazing views of the Acropolis from the restaurant. The price is probably a bit high for what you get but it is the centre of Athens. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner I think. A very satisfactory stay, 200m from Syntagma.

Great location and view from the rooftop restaurant. Small, but clean adequate bathrooms.

Room was very loud from both the street and the hallway. We stuffed a towel in the crack that the door to our balcony had. The door was broken and it did nothing to muffle the street sounds that's why the towel worked.

Stock sehr laut. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist absolut in Ordnung.

We were given a fairly nice room on the 5th floor with a view to the Acropolis. I was disappointed with the linens, blankets, bedspreads, the towels were poor with ends bad looking, the floor mat had a couple of holes in it. The TV was ancient and the colour was not good. The roof top restaurant was very convenient and very nice, and the breakfast was also very good. the location of the hotel was good. If the above would be corrected, the price and quality would match a little better.

The Astor Hotel is in an ideal location to get around Athens. (Syntagma Sq) there is also an awesome view of the Acropolis on the dining floor (10th) other than that it's rather a bit below average. Service is okay, we found the people at the desk helpful and fairly friendly, but the rooms could be somewhat cleaner (some mold around the bacthroom windows) and updated a bit. We requested a non-smoking room, and as the room didn't smell of smoke we assume they actually have room blocked off for such. Considering the location, it's a good price. (The Grand Bretagne is only 2 blocks away) and it's near to buses, trains, trolleys, and the Athens tourist bus which is only 5 Euro and is a hop on and off sort of thing for 24 hours, you can also use it for other modes of transport around the city, definitely worth using, instead of booking a bus tour for 50 Euro. The desk clerk that also brought up our luggage was gave us helpful hints. To put it short, I'd stay here again if I were only going to be in Athens a day, or two, but any longer and I'd book a nicer hotel. For the price you simply CAN'T beat the location though. Excellent value for money. Room spacious even if it could have done with some refurbishment (the same goes for the whole of the hotel). Right in the center. 10 minutes for the Parthenon. Close to the underground and taxi. Breakfast restaurant with a fantastic view of the Parthenon (Breakfast plenty but of below average quality). WiFi internet cheap (euro 5 for 2 hours to start/stop at your leasure during your stay)

While my fiance, who is Greek, was arriving and departing from Athens for an extended vacation, we decided to book this hotel for its location and convenience in Athens. He stayed in the hotel for his first night, and called me at home in the US to tell me to cancel the return reservation. He painfully described the "single" room as "A prison cell with no light" I have to say that (combined) we have made more than 20 visits to Greece and Italy and are fully aware of the standards for rooms and accommodations in Europe. He said the rooms were dirty and cramped with paper thin walls and that the guest next door must have had at least 7 different "visitors" during the night. He was digusted with the hotel, especially when they did not assist after complaints of the noise from the room next door.

Hotel which needs refurbishment, obviously missed the chance to refurbish during the Olympics. Breakfast room small and selection very poor. Temperatures of food not controlled. Hotel location excellent, very near city centre. Porter service helpful.

Great location. Just a few steps from Sygmata metro stop, and Plaka is just a short walk away. The view from the dining room of the Acropolis is fantastic! Dinner less so and prices fairly steep. Good breakfast buffet. We will return.

I reseved a single room, and the room faced a ugly wall in the backyard, one meter from my window. The interior in the room, and the hotel in generall was very old fashioned

By airplane
The Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos domestic and international airport lies approximately 27 km away from the hotel. The airport is well connected to the city's centre by an express bus service and an underground line. Buses and taxis can be easily found at the airport bus station.
Upon leaving the airport, take the Attiki Odos highway (pay toll) and follow the sign to Katehaki avenue. Take the K2E exit to the elevated road. From here, take the 16K exit, which leads to the route named Ymittos ring for Katehaki avenue. Follow this road straight until exit Y1 for Katehaki and Messogeion avenue. Turn left onto Messogion avenue and go straight following the indications to Vas. Sofias. When in Vas. Sofias avenue drive straight for about 1 km until you reach Syntagma square. The hotel is located 200 metres from the square, on the first street on the left.
By boat
The property lies about 12 km away from the port of Piraeus and is best reached by taxi in about twenty minutes.
On leaving the harbour, take Akti Miaouli street and turn right onto Vas. Georgiou avenue. After 200 metres turn left onto Iroon Politehniou avenue, which leads to Possidonos avenue and
then to Syngrou avenue. At the end of Syngrou avenue, turn left onto Syntagma square. Then follow the above-said directions to the property.
