Marguerita on the desk was very helpful and, there were also two very helpful and competent ladies who provided excellent guest advisory services on anything you might want to know or do in Greece. They were like our own personal travel advisors. The arrangement with the Plaka Hotel for access to their rooftop terrace with really excellent views of the Acroplis was also very nice.

Hermes is a basic but very clean and ideally located hotel. The breakfast that was included was great, you could choose between eggs bacon etc, cereal or more traditional continental. The staff were polite and spoke good english.

I travelled with my mother & 20 years old son. The room was big enough for us three. The hotel was very good located. But what I liked most, was the staff of people who attended the hotel. There was a lady who every morning while we were having breakfast helped everyone to plan what to visit on that day, how to get there, etc.

The hotel's location in the Plaka area was great -- earlier in the trip we stayed a night in the Omonia area and it was really sketchy. Hermes is in a nice area that is in very close walking distance to many cute shops and cafes, and not far from the Acropolis. Felt quite safe. However, reception was not very friendly. While there, I interacted with 3 different receptionists, and I would only call 1 of them friendly. The other 2 just seemed busy and annoyed. The room itself was modern and attractive, and I liked that we had a balcony. It was also nice that the AC unit came with a remote that we could use to control the temp. However, above the AC device on the ceiling was lots of black mold, which was kind of gross. The elevator/lift is painfully tiny, but that's not so uncommon in Europe. The breakfast in the morning was great -- many options to choose from, and the breakfast room was cute. Overall, a very convenient place for a one-night stay, but would have preferred friendlier reception and no mold in the bedroom.

generally it was a very good hotel. the advantage was the location and that it was very clean the problem was the poor breakfast and that the hotel except breakfast does not serve anything else at any other time.

The accommodation was basic but adequate. We needed basic accommodation for one night, between flights and the Hermes was definitely OK for that. The price seemed high, but I think may not be for the centre of Athens. The elevator is seriously inadequate to handle the number of people. Also serious is the lack of a toilet accessible from the breakfast room/reception area. The toilet downstairs could only be accessed by the continually busy elevator.

The rooms were small but adequate. The only problem was that the room smelled of cigarettes, and I don't know that the hotel had any no smoking rooms.
