For the price, I was very pleased with the location (in terms of proximity to the sights of the city) and with the comfortable room. The immediate neighborhood was not exactly fantastic, lots of graffiti and stores that tended to be closed on weekends and evenings, so there was a run-down, empty sort of feeling that was less than completely comfortable. The lack of functional internet was also disappointing.

On a tour through Greece we stayed twice in the Arion Athens. It gave us a first and good taste of the Greek friendlyness and easynes. The hotel might improve by offering free internet-access and double beds in rooms with a view. Visiting the second time though was a bit of coming home with the excellent quality of bathroom and the splendid view over Athens from the roof-terrace.

Hotel Arion is in an ideal location for seeing the sites in Athens - it is central to dining, sightseeing as well as in the middle of a huge nightlife area. I would NOT recommend driving to the hotel on your own - in fact, I would not recommend driving in Athens at ALL. We drove into Athens from Meteora and arrived late (1AM) - the streets around the hotel are very narrow - forget about double-parking! They were also PACKED with young folks bar hopping from club to club. We had to literally crawl for four blocks avoiding people and other cars. There is also another block used by prostitutes that was bumper-to-bumber with folks looking for some action. The block where the hotel is, however, is quiet and the actual rooms are quiet. Breakfast is good and can be delivered to your room. All in all, a pleasant stay, just some stress in the surrounding area when we arrived.

We only stayed at the Arion for one night but we were delighted with the room (the welcoming wasn't so great). The room was very modern and clean and we had a view of the Acropolis from our window (the Acropolis and Plaka area is only a 5 to 10 minute walk). Breakfast was great - there was quiet a bit of variety compared to the breakfasts that other hotels had offered. They have internet access but it is rather expensive and they don't have a printer but there is an internet cafe 2 minutes from the hotel that is a bit cheaper. Overall, a good, clean place to stay.

I thought the hotel was great value for money, only downside was the shower. Had to be very careful to not get water all over the floor when showering. Also disappointed at our breakfast before departure on our tour as the diary was not put out and we had no milk and butter. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay!

When we arrived we sat in the lobby for around 10 minutes while the receptionist came in and out, making phone calls and talking to a maid without addressing us. When he finally asked us what we wanted he was exceedingly rude. When we were given our key, we went to our room and found the maids still in it. After waiting around a while, I went back down to the front desk to ask when it might be ready. When I stepped off the elevator, the receptionist yelled, "What?" This kind of "hospitality" continued throughout our stay, such as when my friend called the front desk and was greeted with a crude "Yeah?" and her polite question was answered sharply. The only things that made the stay tolerable were the nice room and bathroom (the latter of which was constantly wet from an ineffective shower panel.)
