The hotel's location was great, close to the basilica of St. Francis. Our room was rather spartan but perfectly adequate for one night. The hotel restaurant was closed for the season but we did receive a continental breakfast. November is probably not the best time to stay overnight in Assisi as many hotels and restaurants close at this time.

An excellent hotel within walking distance of the Basilica of St Francis. It's a little noisy as people come up the hill from the parking lot. Very clean. Excellent continental breakfast. bathroom was very modern and very clean. A most enjoyable place to stay.

The Hotel Minerva is in a great location at the foot of the St. Francis Basilica. My room was cute on the 3rd floor with an amazing view. The staff was friendly and the resturant was good. My BIG complaint was that there was no A/C (only a fan) and it was unbearably hot. I ended up only staying one night instead of two for that reason. At first they said they would still have to charge me for two nights, but ended up only charging me for one (that was assuming Venere would not charge them for the second night).

The Hotel Minerva is optimally located near Piazza San Pietro and the Church of St. Francis. You can't get any closer to the church except by living in the convent. The personnel are very warm and welcoming and the restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced. Service in the restaurant was excellent. My room was clean, and because the hotel was not full (prior to the summer season), I was given a double without any increase in price. This is an excellent value for a 2-star hotel--the furnishings are a bit sparse, but all the necessary elements are there. The bed was comfortable. I missed having internet access, but there was an internet point in the Piazza San Pietro. This hotel was just as good as many 3-star hotels and the personnel couldn't have been better. Since I spoke Italian with them, I can't judge their English other than to say they seemed to be handling other English speakers just fine.

This hotel was ideal for my purpose i.e. an overnight stay on my way to Rome.I would like to have stayed longer. The room and bathroom were fairly spartan but were exactly as expected for the price range.

Close to the city bus stop and easy access to both S. Francesco Basilica (on foot) and S. Maria Basilica (by city bus). Currently under refurbishment but still a very fascinating accommodation.

Very clean and well run hotel. Rooms simple but well maintained and very good value for money. Location is very good if you don't mind walking to sights. Very close to transportation and other services. Better map would help locate upon arrival.

Yes, there are a number of fine lodging options in Assisi, but Hotel Minerva has always been my favorite. The management is in the hands of a quite competent, congenial, and handsome young man (the owners' son?), who is supported by a very friendly and alway-smiling front desk staff that remembers return guests not only by name, but by preferred room number(#315)! The dining room is attended by friendly young waitresses who serve you with great care. Do not be deterred by the fact that the facade of the Minerva is having a facelift, because the views are relatively unobstructed, and your visit will be very, very pleasant -- this was my fourth stay! Location is perfect, with accessibility to bus stops, Basilicas, nice restaurants (try DeCecca down the street), and shopping. Enjoy the friendly, clean and comfortable atmosphere of Hotel Minerva during your vacation or holy pilgrimage to Assisi.

Both the location and the personnel at the front desk at Hotel Minerva in Assisi were superb, a fact confirmed on both my first and second three-night stays. The kind and friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful, always with a smile and a friendly manner. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and public areas are impeccably clean, and the restaurant offered good food and service. Because of the Minerva's close proximity to the Basilica di San Francesco, during the daytime hours in high tourist season, the rooms on the front of the hotel -- most of which offer beautiful panoramas, especially the third floor -- can be somewhat noisy; that inconvenience subsides in evening when the tourist buses depart. The quality, value, location, and staff are all excellent reasons for choosing the Hotel Minerva for your visit or pilgrimage to Assisi.

My parents and I were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel for the price we paid and the star rating it has. It is in a great location (although be aware that you can't avoid walking up hills in Assisi!), and is full of character and charm. The staff are wonderful, and the rooms are very clean. The hotel also has stunning views over the Umbrian countryside. I would highly recommend a stay here.
