Excellent location for guests who enjoy driving. Twisty, up-hill little road from main Assisi to Perugia road. Old manor house set on the side of a valley. Good food and wine, although "special" menu one evening was limited.

Furniture in room was some what beat up. Lamp was broken. Bedspread smelled as if it had not been laundered recently. Sheets and towels clean. More pictures of rooms would be helpful. Expected a nicer decorated room. Location was great for seeing Assis. Very quite, out in the country. You do need a car to get to the hotel. Dinners were fantastic! Closest we came to gourmet meals the entire time we were in Italy, which was 24 days. We were given a complementary aperitif and hors d'oeuvre each night. Dinner was served outside and we watched the sunset and moon rise each night. Beautiful! Breakfast was OK. Cold meat and cheese, cereal, juice, coffee and rolls.

Il Maniero is in delightful Umbrian countryside and has excellent ambience and surroundings. However, it is well outside Assisi and not as depicted on the map on the website, which suggests it is just outside the perimeter. The glory of the place is the food- not a large menu but well priced and excellent in every way. The hotel itself is perhaps a bit impersonal and the staff rather aloof, the quality of the rooms also leaves something to be desired, however the price is very reasonable given the facilities and position. We would recommend it for a short stay in Assisi.

The map to find the hotel wasn't much use, but once we found the signposts it was easy. Our lack of Italian didn't help, but the staff were helpful (rather than warm & welcoming) and the room was as we had booked, complete with cot. The food was good & the hotel is in a lovely, relaxing out of town spot with great views. Our rather unsettled 4 month old son was coped with and we had an enjoyable stay.

Il Maniero is beatifully placed where you may watch the sunset and enjoy a relaxed vacation and very good food & wine in the local restaurant (we ended up having dinner three nites in a row at the restaurant). The place has all the features I expected and it offers to its guests an extremely nice experience. You will need a car to go around and to Assisi but I think this is a plus, in this way you visit the region and not only Assisi. If you know the region you may avoid to pay any parking fee, which can be 1.5 euro/hour. We stayed in a two floor room in the main tower and the room was nice. However, as in many other Italian Hotel, the bathroom is small and narrow, allowing one person at a time to wash her face. The place is quite, because only the people in the hotel would want to access the location, however one nite the local dogs had too much fun barking around the property. My wife did not hear a thing but they woke me up and it was annoying.

Great stay at historic castle with dinner in its lovely courtyard. Food and wine are excellent. Map nor directions on the web-site reveal that this accommodation is several km outside Assisi, definitely not walking distance as the map almost suggests. This is something to keep in mind as a trip to the town requires a car.

A nice and quiet place except on weekends where they have wedding festivities of up to 100 people such that there is no quietness before 2 AM.
