Staying here was a delight. The taxi driver knew the way and hauled our bags up the stairs to the hotel. The staff was friendly and pointed out how to see Assisi. The room was very small but comfortable. We walked our legs off on the hills of Assisi but would definately come back to the Hermitage.

We enjoyed our stay at the hermitage. The property has been beautifully renovated and reflects the character and spirit of Assisi. It is very central to all parts of Assisi by foot, especially Basilica San Francesco, the commune and shops. The only disappointment might be the breakfast as there is little choice of food available, other 3 star hotels have offered a buffet breakfast with a wider choice. However, we would definiely stay there again without hestitation.

Hotel JFI Hermitage is centrally located and convenient for walking in Assisi. The staff was very pleasant, accessible and helpful. The room and facilities were as advertised and reasonably priced. Our room was clean and quiet with a view of the valley west of Assisi. We, Californians familiar with travel in Europe and Asia, would definitely return to Hotel JFI Hermitage.

Pros 1) Great value for money - 49 Euro per night + 10 Euro for car parking 2) Great scenery of Umbrian region 3) Tidy room condition 4) Friendly staff Cons 1) Hard to find 2) Can't park at Hotel garage - Drop by hotel to unload luggages and park at outside wall.(10 mins walk from parking lot)

Employees excellent! It was difficult to find the hotel (bad signals, not even the name of the street). There is NO parking facilities near the hotel and this should be explained to the guest arriving by car. The city is marvellous. Do not miss Assisi!!!

The best price/quality ratio we found so far. The hotel is charming and the view is beautifull. The location is very convenient to visit Assisi. The employees made everything to have our stay pleasant. The rooms are tiny but totaly renewed with a free internet access. The only point to be noted is the entrance in the middle of a stair. Could be difficult for some people with heavy suitcases.

Very good place to stay near the center. Parking for the car is outside the walls; for luggage you can drive to the hotel.

Very Quiet, Excellent restaurants nearby, Simple breakfast (cappucino, Juice, Brioche). We had difficulty finding it even though we had a handheld navigator. The signage is diminutive as required by local ordinace, I suspect. the town allows for travel up to the hotel by car but you have to get a special permit and that is only to unload your luggage. You then need to park overnight outside the town's wall in a very nice parking area. A 1/4mile walk uphill.

Very nice people. breakfast wasn't much, but that's about our only complaint. Well located. But it would help if the directions made clear that you can get a bus easily to within walking distance to the hotel. Bus is much cheaper than taxi.

The hotel exterior is much prettier than the website picture. Get additional directions...it's hard to find. The location, though, was excellent. We had a stunning view from our room. The room and hotel were very nice, clean and charming. The spaces are small but perfectly sufficient. You have to ask for the A/C but they happily turn it on in your room if you request it. There was no noise from outside. You can hear some noise from inside the hotel...all we heard were doors and footsteps. Nothing disturbed our sleep and I am a very light sleeper. The hotel staff was extremely welcoming, friendly and personable. The parking lot is a number of blocks, you have to pay for it, and Assisi is hilly. There are also stairs going up to the hotel and to your room, if it's on the second floor. These are considerations for people who are older, out of shape, have young children and/or have large or heavy luggage. It should not be an issue for anyone else. This may be "user error" but when using Venere I always selected "US dollars" as the currency. However, even though you book it in dollars, it actually confirms you in Euros. Depending on the fluctuations, that could affect your price. But, we booked five hotels on Venere and even in Euros with the dollar tanking, we got better deals than on any other website. Hotel Hermitage is where we spent our first night in Italy and we were very glad our first night was spent there. It was ideal.

We highly recommend the Hotel JFI Hermitage. The room was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the Umbrian valley. Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast. Our only problem is that it was a little hard for us to find. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

Clean, nice hotel very close to the city center. Our room was friendly and clean, but quite small and we heard a lot of noise from other guests. The employees were friendly, but not very competent concerning local culture.

The JFI Heritage is a little treasure of a hotel in a great Assisi location. Keeping in mind how walkable Assisi is overall, the hotel is just a short stair climb from one of the streets that connects the Basilica of San Francesco to the Comune. Our room was comfortable and adequately sized (though an easy chair would have been nice for reading or catching up on the news), and it had an up-to-date, exceptionally clean, and very spacious bathroom--the spaciousness being a particular plus! Breakfast was promptly served in typical continental style. The staff was friendly and very helpful in providing information about the area--including good restaurant recommendations. While it was too chilly for us to enjoy it, a balcony patio for guests overlooks Assisi and its western countryside--very lovely. The off-season rate for this hotel was almost too good to be true; the price:value ratio was tipped heavily toward value. I'd definitely return to the JFI Hermitage should I have the pleasure of returning to beautiful Assisi.

Ottimo rapporto qualita' prezzo, l'Hotel e' situato nel cuore di Assisi, ospitalita' e servizio buono, colazione migliorabile, stanza un po' troppo piccola. Nel complesso ci tornerei volentieri.

Our party was 2 older couples but there were 3 younger couples staying there at the same time. Any age group would enjoy the staying at the Hermitage. The breakfast was good. The staff was friendly and offered advice as to how to see Assisi and where to eat. The women at the desk recommended a nice restaurant and even called and made reservations for us since it was getting late. The staff catered to our needs and the cappuccino and hot chocolates had personal designs on top. The room had a beautiful view on the valley. An excellent price for the high quality we received. The hotel provided a laptop with access to the Internet for all of the patrons to use.

The location was wonderful, close to the different sites. The room was small and especially the shower stall was very tight but it worked out OK as we're both thin. The front desk people were very nice and gave good restaurant suggestions. The owner was there a lot and was very pleasant too. We were lucky that we finished our breakfast before another couple arrived to sit at the table with us. The only public area is where we had breakfast, just a few tables. There's no place to sit around. We asked for a room with a view and it was stunning!! We highly recommend this hotel.

L'Hotel in generale offre un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Ottima posizione. Stanze pulite. Magnifica vista. Personale giovane e cordiale. The hotel offers a good quality/price compromise. Good position. Clean rooms. Wonderful view. Staff is polite and young. But we have a few remarks: Our room was in the hall where in the morning the guests had breakfast, lot of noise since 7am. The room was very little, there was barely enough space to walk around the bed. Every morning, at breakfast, even if there were many tables available, the staff arranged our meal at the same table shared by unknown people (food included). When we left, the hall staff made us sign a paper, with name, telephone, etc, where we had to evaluate the hotel services and quality, just in front of them looking at us writing. The car parking is far from the hotel, to come back you must walk for a long time and uphill and is 10 euros per day and when we left we had to pay until 11pm even if we left at 10am.

Hospitality and surroundings A-one. Not recommended for the elderly or infirm because of the outside steps leading down to entrance, however, given that the town sits on a mountain this is unavoidable. Staff are very friendly and courteous.

The Hermitage Hotel is perfect for a three day visit to Assisi, located about half way between the Basilica San Francesco and Santa Clara, near the 'main walkway' between the two. Breakfast is continental but the service is excellent, and the owner/manageress was always very helpful. Rooms clean, lovely view of the valley below. Very inspirational place to spend a birthday.

The hotel was very nice and newly renovated; the room was very modern. The mother-and-son team who seem to run the place were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very hard, and the location -- you have to go up or down steps to get there -- was a bit awkward when you have luggage. All in all, I'd stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hermitage. The owner was hospitable, helpful and quite proud of her hotel. The location was good for Assisi, although it was at the top of a hill and a little hard to find at first. The location was fine since it was close to parking and the Basilica. The owner made a very nice breakfast and lent us an umbrella for what might have been a rainy day. One can park across from the Hotel at night but must repark during the day. Not too much of a problem. The room was small, although the bathroom was a decent size and well equipped. For our purposes, as travelers there for an evening, it worked out fine. I would recommend it.

We have thouroghly enjoyed our stay here with a cosy room and worm hospitality. The room was not spacious but was clean and cosy. All the bathroom facilities fanction well, sometimes they don't in Italia. The breakfast was simple but the home made breads were molto buono. Fedelico, who sereved us, was always ready to help us at the reception and very welcoming. If we could have another visit to Assisi, we are sure to come back here Heremitage.
