Overall we were unhappy with our stay at Hotel Frate Sole. The building and rooms are quite old. The staff was not really polite.

Relatively easy to find and within a comfortable walk to Basilica in Santa Maria degli Angeli. Close to stop for bus to the Old City. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Very spacious restaurant serving delicious food and selection of local wine. Limited use of Internet. Room was clean and well furnished, but quite small. Overall good value for a 3 star hotel.

Italy has small hotel rooms, but this was the smallest in which we have stayed on three separate trips, more than a dozen hotels, booking largely through Venere. Sound-proofing is an issue: we could hear someone snoring in (presumably) an adjacent room. The bathroom was bit more spacious than the typical Italian hotel room. The people who work there are friendly and conscientious; we could not help but like them. The breakfasts were good, service prompt. If price is an object, you will probably find it less costly here than in Assisi proper. The bus stop is just a block away and a short ride to Assisi. Based on our stay, the hotel appears to appeal largely to groups. Santa Maria degli Angeli, where the hotel is located, has a church well worth visiting, but the choice of restaurants is limited compared to Assisi.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Frate Sole, this family run hotel is immaculately clean, the staff were very helpfull when I wanted to book our next stay in Rome on the internet, the meals in the Resturante were some of the best we had in Italy...only 5 mins to the railway station & buses.

We were very happy with the location, room and service. We particularly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant for quality of food and service. Our only criticism was the TV in our room did not have English speaking channels working. We mentioned this to staff, but it was not fixed in the 2 nights we stayed there.

Frate Sole is in an ideal location for those who wish to visit Assisi close to bus and train station. Reception staff were kind enough to phone my last hotel in Florence to trace my passport which I later found, breakfast with a good selection they left a good impression on my wife the way they served her tea. Although we stayed for one night we recommend this hotel and if we are in Assisi again we will definitely stay at this hotel.

The hotel was really nice. They went out of the way to help us with our 8 month old baby. They got us a baby crib and anything else that we needed. They spoke good english also which is wonderful. The rooms are kind of small but it worked for one night with no suitcases.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Frate Sole. The staff were very anxious to please and very helpful and pleasant. Our room was very clean, the mattress on the bed was the best we have ever had! The bathroom was large and very nice. The breakfasts were wonderful - lots of choices, fresh rolls, great yogurt, cheese, fruit, etc. We would stay at Frate Sole again.

I liked the hotel so much that i ended up staying for four more nights and my friends, who i was meeting in Assisi, also decided to stay at Frate Sole. the food in the restaurant was excellent and the owners and staff all made me feel very welcome. i would recommend that directions be given for someone coming from the train station as well as for those coming by car.
