Great place to stay if you have a car. Long walk to town, but a short drive and parking costs in Assisi are reasonable. Big, comfortable rooms. Reminded me of an old-fashioned American motel (except with a bidet). Surprised to find no water in the swimming pool.

Even though our 2 room suite was immaculate, spacious, reasonably priced, and the views from our rooms were breathtaking, I sadly cannot recommend this hotel due to the noise. We basically did not sleep due to the poor sound insulation. The gentleman never smiled during our check in, but I can live with that given that the room was so clean, etc. But none of that matters if you can't sleep. Every sound was amplified a hundred times especially once breakfast prep and service began in the restaurant directly below us. This was the only hotel during our week in Italy where this was a problem. I will stay at a hotel in town center next time-the money saved at Da Angelo was not worth it.

A lift would have been a great help as there are a lot of narrow stairs and definitely not disabled friendly. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. Nicely situated for the town and sites. Pleasant views from bar/restaurant. Pool area good.

The rooms are pretty small but absolutely OK for the price we've paid. A hotel with a cozy, personal touch and it's own charme. We highly recommend the restaurant of "Da Angelo" with friendly, professional staff, low prices and good quality.

I didn't know that the hotel was 1 km from the nearest bus stop. At first I regretted my choice of this hotel as I had to walk with a heavy backpack. But what I found at the end of an agonizing walk was a heaven! A simple, but immacurately clean room with a fabulous view of the valley from the window plus a proper bathtub. The staff members don't speak much English, but I could get enough information to go around in Assisi. They were also kind enough to give me a lift to the bus stop when I checked out. I liked the restaurant they run on the ground floor as well. Good food reasonably priced. I would like to go back there when I have another chance to visit Assisi, which is extremely beautiful and spiritual.

This splendid 2* hotel deserves its beautiful name.I really enjoyed my stay there and I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Assisi. However it is not for the faint-hearted lone travellor for the knowledge of English is nil or so poor its leads to awful misunderstandings. On departure I offered to write a guiding leaflet in French or English free of charge as I do think that the place is "adorable".They did not understand that either and thought I was complaining. So please contact me if you want to know some very useful tips about the location, amenities ect.Believe me you will love that place once you have settled but without Italian it might take 2 or 3 days ! A real pity. The restaurant is an asset there . Real romantic setting with panoramic view, lovely lights and public coming from all over to spend the evening there. The food is not outstanding but the wine is good and the half-board price is extremely good value for money.Do not hesitate to contact me. There is no commission!

I still find it incredible that people who run a hotel that is frequently visited by foreigners speak so little English. However, they did meet our wishes, even when we asked for a beer after the restaurant and bar had closed (it was about 11 o'clock in the evening). If you want to have a swim in their pool, pack a bathing cap because it's obligatory. There is no elevator, which might be inconvenient for the elderly or people in wheelchairs.

Da Angelo was a lovely, family-run property that exceeded our expectations in most every way. This was our first visit to Assisi/Umbria so we had no idea what to expect. Da Angelo is located just outside of Assisi, which turned out to be a big plus in our view. We walked into town and enjoyed being tourists there then returned to the tranquility of this property, which has great views overlooking the valley and a wonderful swimming pool. The on-site restaurant was a great option to have (we ended up eating there both nights; many locals there, too). Room was well furnished (nice bathroom!) but compact. Hallway acoustics meant that you could easily hear when others came and went, but not a big deal given small number of rooms per floor. Can definitely recommend this property, especially if you like countryside.

A quiet family run hotel with beautiful outlook over the surrounding countryside. Rooms and meals were adequate. Good value for the price. A car is necessary, but the hosts were most obliging when we wanted to go into town or back. We were disappointed that the pool was still covered in mid May, and we were unable to use it.

We were looking forward to spend a little time in Assisi. The hotel and its surroundings are beautiful, the only downside is the distance to Assisi downtown(specially when you have to walk under rain,a mile or so from Porta Nova), but the place itself is peaceful, great service, good food, no need to leave the hotel but you have to visit the beautiful Assisi and its basilics, so be prepare to get taxi to and from or drive there. A place to come back.

Very well situated, particularly if you have a car (as we had). Without a car it is a bit of a long walk, if you have to do it more than once or twice. The bus did not seem that regular, we tried once but after 20 minutes we decided to take the car instead. The hotel is excellent value for money, and lovely surroundings.

Our stay was lovely. They were very helpful with a last minute change from 2 persons to 3 and gave us a large 2 room suite. Food was very good but be aware that many bus tours stay here for overnight and dinner stops so meals here can be very noisy. Good selection for breakfast . Staff was very helpful and friendly Free internet was a bonus. You should have a car for this hotel as the distance to town is not walkable

I hate to give such a bad rating for this hotel, it has a lot of good qualities. The hotel management, and staff are not very friendly, and cater to all the tour buses that come to eat at there restaurant. The hotel guests are over looked. The bed was so hard that it was like sleeping on a slab of concrete!!!!!!! The restaurant was good with a great view of the valley, however the serving staff acted like they hated working there and were not very friendly. My wife and I spent 3 nights in September and would come back in a heart beat if the beds were improved and the staff were nicer. The location is very good with plenty of parking. It's an easy 5 minute drive to the parking area for Assisi. There is a nice large pool. We didn't use the pool because the weather was too cold, but it did look nice and clean. The price is very cheap for this hotel (72 euro) a night, but you just have to be ready for the poor staff and very hard beds. I really would rare this hotel a lot higher if not for the poor staff and bad beds. Louie.

Good 2 star. Didn't have dinner but breakfast came with cheese and salami ... a good thing for those of us who enjoy protein. We decided not to walk into Assisi ... probably a slightly longer distance than we wanted to come back to after dark. Given a choice, since we had to pay for daytime parking anyway, we probably would have stayed in Assisi proper. Loved Assisi. Pace e Bene

We found this hotel to be very good value but I feel they could improve on their services. The staff were not overly friendly - I'm not sure if it was because of a language barrier or just their nature but they could have been a bit friendlier! Also the breakfast was very disappointing, a chioce of a cup (large cup albeit!) of cereal or bread and cheese and salami. No fruit or even a toaster for the bread. However the views are spectacular and for the money it is good value. One thing I would have liked more than anything else though was air conditioning in the room - I would not return for this reason alone.

Hotel well located - superb site and lovely views. Room very clean and reasonably comfortable - not much seating or drawer space. Staff didn't seem to speak much English except one waiter. Was disappointed that although we stayed 3 days and had an evening meal each day - perhaps misunderstood the waiter who suggested demi -pension on the first night, we were charged full restaurant prices for what was very ordinary food - on average 25 euros each for dinner. Found infinately better value elsewhere on touristico menus.

The scenery from our room was perfect. Not too impressed with breakfast. Same every morning although it was good. No meat or cheese. Communication was a little dfficult with the owners as we do not speak or understand the language. But all was forgotten when the beauty of the area and peacefulness surrounds you. Very authenitic feelings about Assisi. Just wish we could have been a little closer to the center of town. Walking uphill is somewhat difficult when you are in the 65 year old bracket. We had dinner every night at Hotel D'Angelo and everything was done to perfection. The scenery from the dinning room overlooking the valley is worth a thousand words. We had a wonderful time and would recommend the Hotel D'Angelo. Just be sure that walking uphill is not a problem.

Room was standard but comfortable and very clean, in room shower and toilet. The window view of the countyside would have been amazing, but an early morning rain and fog came in, fortunately by the time we arrived in Assisi it was lifting and this town is not to be missed. We had a triple room for me and my two kids. While they shared the queen size bed, my bed was a cot with plywood on top and a 3" thick foam pad. Every time I moved a muscle the plywood creaked against the frame, waking me and the kids up. The room was absolutely barren with no carpeting, so sounds just echoed terribly. The room was just large enough for the two beds. The location was a bit of a surprise, it is 3km from the closest bus stop inside Assisi... Don't be fooled by the road name, thinking that it is in Assisi proper as there is a road with what I thought was the same name in a convenient location. The location required a cab to reach easily, so be prepared to spend six euros or more to get back and forth. I would have rather been within Assisi...

Our stay was excellent beside the fact that when I booked the hotel I requested for one double and one single rooms. Upon arrival I was disappointed because I was quoted 2 double rooms which threw me off budget. No explanation was given though. The double room we were in was rather too small, no space at all. Overally Da Angelo is a good place, the view is beautiful, the food was excellent (though not much served - sorry I & my husband happen to have big appetites), the staff was very courteous and the atmosphere there is refreshing, its exactly what we were looking for. The price on the internet was good but as I mentioned earlier the hiking when we got there disappointed us. All in all we loved the placed and will definately stay there again in the near future. Thanx once more for your prompt and efficient services, it felt good to arrive there and have our reservations ready for us! Compliments of the Season.

The friendly staff at D'Angelo could not have been more helpful during a stressful situation for me. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my family was forced to spend several hours in the lobby following checkout and the proprietor's family was extremely courteous about what was probably a major interruption in their day. We stayed here during off season with just two other guests yet the entire facility was as warm and inviting as though it were fully booked. The restaurant was excellent, the rooms were spacious and very clean, and the view is not to be believed. I will definitely recommend this charming property to friends and will book again if I ever return to Assisi.

We had to ask a policewoman for directions to find the hotel, as the directions we were given by the property were ambiguous. The room was clean and basically fine, with a small TV high up on the wall. The room was on the lowest level facing a parking lot. It was very hot with no breeze, no fan. The dining room was pretty good. The food was above average, the service was adequate, and the views over the hillside were lovely.

My family was delighted with our stay at Da Angelo's. The restaurant food was excellent and the views superb. We enjoyed the pool and the rooms were fine. What they describe as a double room are two rooms joined together with a double bed in each. Therefore one double room would suit a family with one or two younger childern if you don't mind sharing a bath with them. We stayed in August during a heatwave but managed not to be undone by the heat even without air conditioning. Perhaps it is the location that keeps it slightly cooler It was a nice surprise. Assisi was a resonable commute and charming. Not as tacky as we had read it would be. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was one of the high-lights of our visit to Italy.

This hotel gives excellent value for money. It is very well situated with wonderful views and is only 20 minutes walk from the beautiful town of Assisi. The food in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and whilst the menu was somewhat limited on any given night it was completely changed every night. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly. We had a good size room with excellent views. We recommend the Hotel Da Angelo and would definitely stay there again if we re-visited this area of Italy.

Wonderful surroundings, vbery clean, nice hotel, good nicely served breakfast (in contrary to many other hotels of the same rating). Thank you very much! Directions from the train station could have been more precise.

Terrific location just outside walls, with great parking. Arrived too late to try dinner, but heard it was great.

Da Angelo was a fabulous spot to spend time, located right outside the walls of Assisi. It's comfortable and pleasant, the service was warm and gracious, and the food was excellent. Then there's the million dollar view. All of this at bargain prices.

Our only problem was that the hotel is outside of Assisi, which depending on your transportation choices may or may not be a problem. We chose to walk into town and it was a beautiful 30-minute walk.

Hotel is VERY far from center, lady in desk casually mentioned 10 min walk, i am a fast walker and it took 35 min in hazardous road full of traffic. taxi cost prohibitive, and rare. our room was a small cubicle and the view was the rooftop of the hotel. very disappointing.

Our stay was much more than we expected for the price...It was like staying in a Renaissance Painting....by far the best value of our three week vacation in Italy! I have no reservations in giving it my very highest recomendation.

Overall good, but some problems. Food in restaurant was excellent one day, mediocre the next. One room had good ventillation, the other was poor. Suffered some mosquito bites due to lack of screens. View from one room was exceptional, the other had to be closed due to walkway past window.

2 stars Da Angelo is sometimes rated with is too loow a rating. I haven't seen a better view from a hotel before, the whole Umbrian valley is in front of you as soon as you open up wide the shutters. Da Angelo is located only withing a 20-minute walk from the Assisisi's Western gate. The hotel's pool is very convenient and specious, so is the restaurant and the parking.
