Hotel Cristallo - Santa Maria degli Angeli, Assisi

I recommend this hotel if you have a car and want to be centralized to Assisi, Gubbio and Perugia. Assisi is only a 7 minute drive away. It was wonderful to see people gathered 10pm at night eating gelato across the street from the church down the street from the hotel about a three minute drive (gold statue on top). This was on a Friday night. The staff was very friendly and I was able to cook my own eggs the way I wanted. When I return to Assisi area I'm definitely returning back to this hotel. I found the hotels in Assisi have beautiful views, but I'm not one for staying in busy tourist areas. Just close enough to enjoy and rest afterwards. The only downside was the 24hr internet connection and getting it set up. Once it is set up it runs great. I was able to take care of business and do homework. This is good for this area considering the view and spending time with the locals is more of a focal point here. Clean and spacious rooms, white sheets, comfortable bed and beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony was very serene. A great hotel for people looking for simplicity, relaxation and don't mind driving to multiple destinations. By car Perugia 25 minutes, Gubbio 55 minutes, Assisi 7 minutes and the small town I cannot recall (gold statue on church)-my favorite 3 minutes away.

I have only one comment, the breakfast was very poor, good coffee and available with no limitation but the food choice was extremely limited every morning

Excellent location while visiting Assissi. Worth each cent of the price paid for.

The Cristallo is incredible value for money, a true four-star hotel with large modern rooms and bath, nice dining area etc... all for 70 euros. It is at a short distance from the old town of Assisi but there is no problem finding one's way.

We stay three days in Santa Maria degli Angeli, the hotel is lovely but it needs a long walk to reach the center of SMA, so is the right place if you have a car or if you like walking
