Good location in centre of town. Room fronted town main square so noise from here was expected, however rooms were not well noise insulated from adjoining rooms. Breakfast was excellent and staff very attentive. We could accept the tired fixtures and fittings in the small room, but not the fact it was dirty and the carpet under bed had not been cleaned for some time.

Very welcoming, switched to english when he realised the quality of our French.Free orange squash and tea which was a pleasant surprise. Had a rear facing room on the second floor - no lifts, but he did offer to help with the suitcase. Room clean but small. Onsuite very crampt and tired. Hotel right in the centre of town - parking nearby in an underground carpark for 11 euros. Nice market on Saturday morning.

I really enjoyed staying at the Daimant. the location is superb, the proprietor has excellent English and is very helpful. My room was very small, but adequate for one person. I would certainly stay there again.

A charming, old world hotel overlooking large square. Square not at its best at our stay because of restorations. Monsieur Phillipe is a most helpful host, especially for us when my husband became ill. Breakfast is generous with a variety of local produce. Thoughtful touches such as fresh fruit, Belgian chocolates, bottled water in room add to the welcoming feel. The stairs to rooms may be daunting for people with restricted mobility. Our room was reasonably large, ample wardrobe space and looked over square but rather large furniture restricted space for people like us with a lot of luggage. Many good restaurants and cafes all around the square and nearby; Lovely to sit in the spring sun for lunch. Diamante is a quality hotel in a central location. Arras is a pleasant town in a beautiful, historic area. We were purposefully in this area for ANZAC Day and would recommend that a car is necessary to participate in official observances in the area if staying in Arras. During our 3 day stay we took train to visit WW1 St Sever war graves at Rouen - a lovely journey. We certainly recommend Hotel Diamant and its kindly host.

Excellent breakfast, great variety of good qulaity food. Would have preferred to be left alone to enjoy it rather than have the hotel owner hovering to make sure we had everything we needed all the times. At times he even looked at what we had on the table and anticipated what we might need next, i know he was only trying to be helpful and provide excellent service but it made me feel slightly uncomfortable and less relaxed than I should have been. Excellent location, although it is a shame we were there when the work to replace the cobbles in the square was happening right outside the hotel, lots of noise and dust. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

My fiance and I have stayed at this hotel twice, once in June 2009 and once in Feb 2010. It is a great hotel in a great location and excellent value for money. The underground car park is nearby for those who don't like leaving their car in the main square (for fear of doors being opened into their cars!) The owner is very helpful and his English is great. The breakfast is quite expensive (9 euros) but it is wonderful - lots of cheese, ham and fresh french breads. I will always stay at this hotel when we go for our Somme walks and to load up with lovely French wine. On Saturdays their is a fantastic food market in the square directly outside the hotel. Brilliant place to stay.

Excellent location on a main square. Very clean rooms with adequate towels etc. Appreciated some English language tv, if only to catch up on news. Very familiar with Canadians who are there to visit Vimy Memorial Would stay there again.

We stayed for 2 nights in Arras. What a lovely city. The Hotel was right in the centre in a beutiful square. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was comfortable and well equiped, if a bit small. Tea & coffee was available in the reception, sat in the win dow overlooking the square. The breakfast was amazing, with all sorts of well presented lovely things; plenty for everyone.

The location of this hotel in the centre of historic Arras was paramount. Hotel Diament is charming, clean and welcoming. Be aware that you will have to climb up to four flights of narrow stairs to your room but this did not bother us. Staff was most friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the hotel is extensive and good value, but we also enjoyed the many local patisseries and cafes. We would definitely use this hotel again if we return to Arras.

Great location in the Palce des Heros, right next to the Town Hall. Really nice hotel and considering central location, very quiet. It's a much better hotel than its 2 star rating - chocolate and fruit in our room on arrival and a robe each. Also all the tea, coffee, juice and buscuits you could want in reception all the time. Rooms are a little small, but are perfectly fine. Shower in the bathroom was fabulous!

We were travelling in the area to visit the Vimy Memorial site from WWI. Phillipe at the hotel arranged for a taxi to take us out to the site and pick us up later in the day. He was very attentive to our needs providing information and assistance. Tea, coffee, juice, biscuits and fruit were available in the lobby during the day and also internet access in the dining room. Hotel location on the Place Heros was spectacular and many restaurants nearby. An easy walking distance to the train station. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located right on the main square, the rooms are very small, due to the hotel being a historical building and since we only stayed there one night , it did not matter to us. The hospitality, breakfast, location and service made up for the small room. This is our first time at Hotel Diamant

We are in our mid-60s and spent two nights at Hotel Diamant. The location on Place des Heroes in the old heart of Arras is excellent. The hotel is small and intimate and the owner, Philippe Caillet, is on site all the time and works very hard to accommodate the needs of his guests. His English is good. You may have to close your windows at night because of noise from cars and cafe-goers on the square. Paid parking (free overnight) is available on the square except on Wednesday mornings -- market day. Our room was smallish but very clean and well-appointed. We would recommend this hotel to friends.

We spent four nights at the Diamant in March 2008.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Philippe Caillet and his staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is well positioned in the centre of Arras and was ideal for our visits to the surrounding WW1 sites and cemetrys. We would recommend parking in the underground car park in the Grand Place. A weekly ticket can be purchased at what we thought was a reasonable cost. The car park can be accessed 24 hrs a day. We would definately stay at the Hotel Diamant on any future visit to the area.

The welcome from M le Patron was warm, but modest, though he must be justifiably proud of his hotel. A buffet was available for incoming and resident guests in the reception area. There are comfortable seats in the lounge area of reception overlooking the square with an abundance of books on the town and region provided for guests to use. There is free internet access in a dedicated corner of the Dining Room – a very useful facility. There is no lift, the room was smallish and narrow, but the view from room 10 was exceptional over place des Héros. There are markets in the square on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The owner, M. Caillet, who can speak English, was justifiably proud of his wonderful breakfasts and is able to advise on parking, recommending the underground car park in the adjacent Grand Place, which is secured at night. He has tickets available and the modest charge (€8 for 24 hours) can be added to the bill. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would certainly go back.

The hotel was in a lovely old building, but this did mean that the room was only just about big enough! It was fine for a one-night stay, but I don't think it would work for a longer period. The welcome when we arrived was excellent, and the hotelier spoke in slow and clear French so that we could understand every word, and we didn't have to rely on his ability to speak English. The breakfast was very good, especially the home-made conserves! All-in-all a very pleasant stop-over.

This is an excellent hotel at a great value for money price. Sure, the rooms are small compared to your stereotypical American chain but the character and location are superb. The owner is very friendly and extrememely helpful. The breakfast is great. Dont read the nonsense about difficult parking. you can park in the adjacent Grand Place car park, secure and underground for 8 euro per day or 23 euro per week with full in out privileges. You can even buy your ticket in the hotel. Very strongly recommended ....

Absolutely fine and right in the centre of town - a beautiful location. Room was quite small, on top floor and no lift. Also we didn't get the room on the "place" that we requested but we manager was very apologetic and we were given a free breakfast. It didn't spoil our stay in Arras. Exactly as described and happy to recommend.

Tremendous position on the smaller of Arras' beautiful squares. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby, but quiet location; and bags of parking on the square itself. The Town Hall with belltower is right next door, and worth a visit in itself. The Grand Place is stunning, and the Abbaye St Vaast is, well, vast. Many visitors go for the First World War sites, but we simply enjoyed the ambiance of a Flemish-type town

Very nice hotel in the very centre of Arras - charming staff, very good breakfast (but extra, at 8 euros). Room rather cramped, very cold day and night (rather primitive heating), facing into an inner courtyard, which made it perfectly quiet at night. Parking is difficult at Arras, as the great Places are expensive and unavailable Tuesdays and Saturdays (market days). I parked about ten minutes' walk from the hotel, at Vauban, which is free and spacious. Hotel is very good value for money, and I will not hesitate to stay there again. My visit was caused by my interest in World War I and the battlefields. As a base for visiting the Somme front, Arras cannot be bettered!

The welcoming cup of coffee was much appreciated, the only time we came across this in 6 weeks of travel. The breakfast was a real banquet. The site overlooking the square was awesome. Decor in the room was somewhat dated. No elevator.
