Our stay in this hotel was totally ruined by chaotic organisation and rude, unhelpful staff. We returned to the hotel after a restaurant at 11.30pm to find that we were locked out and there was no bell or emergency contact number on the door. After one hour of shouting and knocking a poor customer had to come down in his pyjamas and open the door! We were told the next morning that we should have asked for a code when we arrived, even though we had no idea that we needed one and that our key was not sufficient. We didn't even get an apology, let alone a discount and I'm speechless at the arrogance of the manager we spoke to in the morning. We will be steering very clear of this establishment next time we visit the area.

A terrible run-down place. Gloomy and unhelpful manager who was unwilling to help in any way. Breakfast was quire good, but overpriced for what it was. The whole hotel seemed badly maintained and dusty. It was a shame because Arles was a wonderful place to visit.

Fairly large rooms with armchair, desk, wardrobe. Staff have no or limited English. Nice new bathroom but with a hand held shower. Well presented rooms but average beds. No A/C - we were there in summer and needed the window open, and so got a lot of street noise. Great location to all the major Roman sites in Arles (200m). The only free parking in the old city of Arles is outside the main old wall and is limited, as well as being a 500m walk over cobblestones to get to the hotel.

The room would benefit from air-conditioning. Staff on reception and breakfast were most helpful.

We had the impression they were under-staffed. No garage available - apparently full? No patio available - so breakfast room cramped. Our room had not been properly checked (shower screen, lightbulb etc). Quality of reception desk very poor.

Be prepared the small staff only speaks French. Even though we don't speak French, we managed to get through all the details without much problem. As a matter of fact not many people speak English in Arles. The rooms are a little run down but not unreasonable. The location is great. The entire town is walkable and this hotel is in the center of town.

This is not an experience I ever wish to repeat! We were a day late arriving thanks to Air Canada and even though we had contacted the hotel they had cancelled our reservation (the manager claimed he did not receive the message) though they did have one room available. After we had checked in the manager contacted us as we were leaving for dinner and indicated there was a problem. He spoke only French (or at least that is what he claimed) and this resulted in extra charges for the room under threat of eviction. There are many other hotels in Arles that are very nice, better located, inexpensive, speak multiple languages and more importantly Guest Friendly! STAY AWAY from Hotel Saint-Trophime!

A very pleasant hotel located in the historical centre of Arles. Not expensive. Nice decoration. breakfast in a little patio. A very quiet place to stay. We were travelling with our children and friends.

This was not a pleasant experience. No parking was available in the garage, so we had to park 2 nights in public, outside lots. Car was damaged. Hotel worker who welocmed us (male) had been drinking. Other employee (older woman) insisted we pay before going to our room. The street in front of teh hotel is extremely narrow, which made unloading very difficult, as several cars backed up behind our car. Room was okay, but window would not close tight, so we shared the room with the Mistral wind and the Christmas celebrations in the town square. Bathroom sink was clogged, and had no stopper (neither did the tub). The walls were thin to the point that we could understand conversations in the adjoining room. The lights in the room were very dim - maybe 30 watt bulbs. Breakfast is not served until 8 am, and no one was in the office before that time. Breakfast is very basic, in fact the most limited of many hotels that we have stayed in in France over 5 years time. Bread, butter, croissant, jam. No meat, cheese, or even yogurt. Breakfast staff (middle-aged woman) was very pleasant.Overall - poor experience, with nothing to recommend outside of proximity to arena.

A great little hotel very close to everything you need. We arrived at 2 am after a wedding and without any French had to arrange for us to get in and registered. Despite having to wake up the manager she was quite polite and got us settled. I would definitely stay there again.

Paolo&Francesca, motociclisti: buon albergo in posizione ottima (pieno centro a 300 m dall'anfiteatro).Non convenientissimo.Non c'è posteggio moto ma si può piazzare a poca distanza nella zona pedonale.Camere pulite ed essenziali ma ascensore fuori servizio.Consigliabile per brevi soggiorni.

This hotel was well located in Arles; everything we wanted to see was close by. The hotel itself was pretty impressive. The public areas were well-decorated, comfortable, and full of personality. Our room was small, but pleasant. Everything about the room was fine, but unexceptional. This was surprising, considering how nice the lobby and hallways looked. However, I have no complaints. Really, there's not much to say about this hotel. It met our expectations and felt like a typical budget hotel room in America, but with brightly colored walls. It was fine.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, we took the advice of previous guests and asked for a garden room (at the rear of the hotel and quieter). The room we had was spacious and, though it lacked air conditioning, it was light and airy. The hotel is centrally situated, driving to the hotel through the narrow streets in the one way system is challenging but can be done if you take your time. Although the host had limited English and we had limited French, there was no great difficulty in communication and the host was very helpful with car parking and ensuring we had a good time in Arles and the area around. We would be happy to use the Hotel Saint-Trophime next time we are in the region.
