Good hotel with character right in the centre of town. Perfect location. Our room was at the back overlooking the pool so very quiet at night. Good having a pool to cool off after a hot day sightseeing. If you have a car book parking early as it is very limited. Their garage holds 4 or 5 cars only.

The Hotel du Forum was wonderful. The location was terrific, the pool was lovely, our room was simple but fine, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We have visited hotels throughout France, but this was our first stay in Arles. The hotel's rooms are spacious and the location is excellent. It is not, though, nearly a three-star quality hotel by any standard. The staff was welcoming and helpful, but the property is in need of some basic improvements. Fresh paint, new linens, some clothes hooks and a wastebasket would be a good start.

We had a lovely stay for one night. The rooms were spacious, quiet and clean, and all staff were friendly and welcoming. The only disappointment was the breakfast: you're basically paying for coffee and pastry, as the ham/cheese/fruit were of poor quality. However, I definitely recommend this hotel.

We were thrilled to find that the hotel is located directly across from the cafe VanGough painted. We literally opened our windows and looked across the square to see it. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a modern bathroom, and wifi. The pool and courtyard were lovely, and le petit dejuner was very well apportioned. Our challenges were finding parking (the hotel has a small garage that would not accomodate our 4 door sedan), so we had to park about 1/2 mile away; and getting a meal late at night. Be sure to get to a restaurant by around 8 p.m. or you may be too late! If you want to see more VanGough go to St. Remy du Provence to the hospital he stayed at after cutting off his ear. You can see the actual olive trees, irises, etc. that he painted.

the hotel exceeded our expectations. room and bathroom was spacious and confortable. Location was excellant - ie very central yet bedrooms were quiet. Lovely swiming pool. Service, inlucling car parking, was very professional and yet friendly.Staff was very helpfull and gave out ample information about local facilities. it would be helpful to notify customers upon confirmation of booking that access by car is restricted and give them specific instructions on how to drive to the hotel

Highly recommend this hotel to all. We were travelling with a 7 year old so booked a triple room - found the room "huge" for european standards. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Although located on a busy square (perfect ambiance), our room faced into the courtyard and we had total peace. If ever back in Arles, will surely stay here again.

Stayed for 2 days in April 2008. Wonderfully friendly welcoming and attentive staff couldn´t have been more helpful. The car parking service is really worth the cost - in town navigation through the very narrow streets in Arles is not easy - even with GPS. Each time we arrived at the door someone appeared in seconds to park the car. The location can't be beaten, right in the town centre in a leafy square surrounded by terrace cafés, including Van Gogh´s "Le Café la nuit" and nothing more than a short walk away. The hotel might just be reaching the borderline between "quaint charm" and "needs renovation" but rooms were spotless and we loved it. We hope to return a at later time of year when the pool is open. Highly recommended.

siamo stati benissimo al "Du Forum". L'hotel è centralissimo, pulito e ben curato.

This was our first visit to Arles - the hotel is in an excellent location for exploring a fascinating roman town and home of Van Gogh. We stayed for 4 nights which gave us time to explore the Camargue , Avignon and Arles itself - all stunning! The hotel is family run and the staff were attentive and very helpful -aided by their good command of english. The room was spacious and very clean with a fridge which was very useful and the bathroom was very large with an outside window. There is a lovely pool in a very secluded area at the back of the hotel - great to chill out after a day of sightseeing. We did not eat in the hotel - much cheaper to have a coffee and croissant in any of the nearby bars. In the evening we ate at a fab little bistro called Le 16 which is very close to the hotel and was recommended by reception - set menu from 14 euros - excellent value. There is garage parking - when you arrive they take your car away and park it for you and bring it back when you request it - it costs 8 euro a day but is well worth it as parking in Arles is manic. We would stay here again and thought it was good value for money. Enjoy if you go!

The Hotel du Forum exceeded our already high expectations. The hotel is very much in the 'old' style with large rooms and wide corridors. Rooms and common areas are very clean. The hotel is situated right in the middle of Arles and within easy walking distance of the many sights this beautiful town has to offer. Staff are excellent and I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone. There is a great pool surrounded by a very high wall and it is a real haven of peace.

Travelled with 2 children. Booked a family room. On arrival was greeted by very friendly receptionist. Car was parked for us in private garage. Was given a very large room facing the square. 1 double and 2 twins. Old, antique (?) furniture in room. Very quaint public areas. Pool area very private and relaxing. Checked out very quickly and efficiently. Could'nt really fault this hotel at all! Would definitely recommend.

I stayed a quad room in the hotel with my wife and 2 boys. The hotel located at Place du Forum, a busy square in Arles. To reach by car with TomTom was straight forward, but I believe I could not reach the hotel without the navigation. Very prompt ballet car parking was well worth for money. Signal of Wifi in my room was too weak for my laptop, so I sat in the lobby. When I could not connect to the net at lobby, receptionins was generously reset their aDSL modem, then I was able to connect. Guests should not miss the biggest advantage to stay this hotel, that is their open air swimming pool, surrounded by walls looks like ruin, very quiet and comfortable place.

Terrific hotel for the money. The hotel pool was an absolute treasure in the summer heat. As others have noted, the hotel is tucked away on a square. A really nice little hotel in a great location in the city. We are a family of 5, and the hotel has a very workable "apartment" suite for two adults and three children, overlooking the pool. The hotel staff were extremely knowledgable and friendly and were able to point us in all the right directions for sights and tastes. Beware if you are driving: Unless you are completely used to navigating the very narrow one-way streets of an old city, it can be very difficult to find the hotel. They have a garage on-site which can hold a half dozen cars, but you need to get there first! (Note: we found it on the first try, but it wasn't easy.) Also nice is the small pool in a very quiet and pretty internal courtyard. Great for a cool-down or just to relax, especially during the hot summer months.

We had a front room, overlooking Place du Forum, which is filled with covered tables for dining. Bathrooms have two liquid soap dispensers, towels and a hair dryer. Our room was large and spaceous and had a small table with two chairs which we moved in front of one of our windows for lunch and cocktails. I was very happy with the hotel and would stay there again. The Hotel du Forum quaint and charming but not modern. I'd compare it to some old NH and VT Inns. It does have free wireles and TV.

On the one hand I was super happy about the hotel's location, the size of the room, the view from my room, etc. On the other hand, I was a little taken aback by how NOT contemporary everything inside the room felt. Even with the building as old as it was, I felt the bathroom needed some renovation at least. Still, everything super clean and very friendly and helpful staff.

Great location in the heart of old Arles. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful, most spoke very good English (and other languages). They recommended some great restaurants, too. Our triple room was VERY large! This is an old, charming hotel with lots of character, surprisingly affordable, right across the plaza from Van Gogh's yellow "Cafe at Night." It was one of our favorite places we stayed in on a three-week trip. Be aware that a valet takes your car to a separate garage for a small daily charge. This could be an inconvenience if you want to take your car in and out often. But if you want to walk everywhere (and historic Arles is quite small and definitely walkable), you can't find a better, central location. Highly recommended - we would definitely stay here again!

A small, charning hotel in a fabulous location, walking distance to the forum and local market. The owners were wonderful, welcoming us personally, she checking us in, he assisting with luggage and parking the car. Good breakfast included, lovely pool area. I would definately stay again if the opportunity presents itself. Be sure to ask to include parking with your reservation as parking is difficult to find. Easiest also if you arrive during the day, as it is a bit tricky to find, if only because attempting to figure out what street you are traveling on is somewhat confusing!! especially in the dark! Wonderful hotel and staff. I Highly recommend.

This hotel is the perfect choice for travellers on a budget who want the best in location. It is situated on a square full of cafes, and is within walking distance of all the sights to see in Arles. The room itself and the bathroom were huge for European standards. We travelled with a car, and it is strongly recommended that you reserve a spot in the garage if you have any hope of finding a parking spot -- we did, thank goodness!! Finding our way to the hotel was an adventure in itself trying to navigate the oh so narrow medieval, one way roads. Once we did though, it was more than worth it. The staff was friendly, and the woman at the desk on the morning we left gave us the best tip of the trip --- take a day trip to Aigues Morte, an old walled medieval town which we had not heard of otherwise. We did not take breakfast in the room.....we do not take it in the room anywhere in France as it is tends to be too much bread. Instead we bought groceries at the Petit Casino grocery stores or at the markets (way too cool!)and ate in the room. We went to the breakfast room and had only cafe au lait, which they were more than happy to do. All in all, this was one of the best hotel values that we stayed in anywhere during our two weeks in Provence! I would definitely choose this hotel if I were ever in Arles again.

It is a very nice hotel, well placed in the centre of the town. Expecially nice the swimming pool, too bad the water is not heated. The parking was not clear, it sounded like it was for free, but when I asked for it at the reception they told us to park our car in their garage which costed some extra euros. So is there a free parking or not?

Arles is a really small old town (within ramparts), so staying at the centre of it is essential. Hotel Du Forum is at great location and is easy to find. The hotel is located at the very center of Arles. The Forum place is always animated, even late in the night. Our room was on the back side, and noise was never a concern. Instead, we had a view on a beautiful garden, with trees and a wll kept swimming pool. The property is clean. Our room had ample space; we got two twin beds for three persons. The breakfast was very good at 9,00 Euro. All prices are clearly stated even at the outside of the hotel. We had no real difficulty at locating the hotel and finding a convenient parking area in a street nearby; however, for staying more than a night the private parking of the hotel seems more convenient. Probably you could find a fair hotel for a bit less, but you would miss some of the convenience and niceties this one offers. Highly recommended.

This hotel lived up to it's expectation - we had a great large room overlooking the Forum, it was very clean and the staff was friendly. However, it was so loud at night it was difficult to sleep. Some of the restaurants turned into bars and were open until 3 in the morning. Then came the cleaning with bottles banging and garbage being picked up. It's a good hotel, but be aware that it can be very noisy at night on the square. Also, make sure to reserve parking in advance. You have to pay for parking even though that wasn't specified to me until I got the bill.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Du Forum, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The location was wonderful, well within easy walking distance to all of the attractions of Arles as well as being right in the middle of a lovely square equipped with restaurants, bars, and shops galore. The staff were incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. You will probably want to have a car when you come so you can explore all of the wonderful areas surrounding Arles, be sure to call ahead to reserve parking as there is not much close by other than what the hotel provides. Be sure also to request a map of the town of Arles before you come, especially if arriving by car, as the very narrow streets are very hard to navigate through and the hotel is hard to find. This hotel is well worth it however, once you do find it, and will not let you down.

The best things about this hotel were the very friendly, helpful staff and the beautiful courtyard garden with pool. Our room was quite generous in size and comfortable, although like many French hotel rooms, it appeared to be furnished with varied unmatched pieces of furniture culled from someone's grandmother's attic. The hotel was centrally located--although Arles is small enough that this is not a huge concern. The main thing that could've been a big drawback was the fact that our room faced onto the square, where there was a good bit of activity and noise at night. However, we always travel with earplugs, so this was not a problem for us.

This is a great place to stay and wish we had more time to spend there. It is in a great location in the town of Arles. The staff could not be more helpful and pleasant I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone heading to the south of france

Staff on reception very helpful and welcoming. HUGE 3 bed room overlooking Place du Forum. Fantastic view of Van Gogh's cafe. Strange bathroom arrangement in corner of room that seemed a bit out of place with the rest of the room. Swimming pool in courtyard looked fantastic (bit chilly in October to try it out unfortunately). All in all fantastic hotel in a great location for an excellent price.

We were a party of 3 and had a beautiful old-fashioned room with a view onto the rooftops of Arles and opposite the café. The staff were lovely and recommended us some beautiful restaurants. They even helped us park!

We loved it Staff was amazing and special mention to Michael who directed us to various places and was extremely helpful. The hotel was excellent value for its money and we would recommend it. We are from North Vancouver and have travelled to other places in France and Europe including the south of France

This is the most charming hotel I have ever stayed at. I could go on and on, or you could just believe that the rooms were huge by european standards, the location although hard to find initially, was in the center of the most adorable squares, walking distance to all in Arles, you look out your room window and you could be in the 1500's. So quaint and so peaceful. The breakfast would be my only minor note, it was not the best, but the front desk was great, helpful, and lovely. We loved this hotel!

Good location, spacious room BUT hopelessly in need of updating - the hotel feels totally unloved, charmless, fusty and damp. Very surprised it has three stars.

This is a lovely place to stay. It is very old but has a certain charm. We found the Hotel staff very nice and polite and very accomodating as very were travelling with an infant. I would recommend staying here as the location is great. If you are driving as for directions as the Hotel can be a little trciky to find as you drive down some very narrow streets. The Hotel is opposite Van Gogh famous Cafe painting. I would not recommend going in as the waiters as extremely rude. The area has some lovely restaurants in the side streets.

Old historical building but clean. Our room was dark, but spacious. Its situated right in the heart of the Forum where plenty of cafes are right outside the hotel; though I wouldn't recommend the them for quality. Hotel will park you car for a fee.

We spent just one night here in August 2005 and the hotel is practically perfect! It is situated on adelightful square with lots of lovely cafes and bars and is steps away from all the attractions in Arles which is a ittle gem of a city. The only problem we had was that the hotel was alittle tricky to find as Arles has many one way streets and the website had said that the hotel had its own parking but when we arrived we were told that the hotel car park was full and should have been pre reserved! It was a busy market day but we managed to find parking by the river quite easily in the end. Our room was huge and clean and charming. The hotel is what you might call faded grandeur but this adds to its charm. The pool is a lovely hidden treasure in a courtyard and a welcome relief after all the sightseeing! I would definately recommend this hotel and will definately stay here again. Enjoy..(but pre request Parking!!)

Ein sehr schönes Hotel in der Mitte von Arles. Der Service, die persönliche Ansprache des Gastes, die Zimmer und das Ambiente waren hervorragend. Wir waren positiv überrascht und können das Haus jedem nur ans Herz legen.

My family and I were delighted with the old-world charm of Hotel Du Forum. We left a hot, tiny apartment in bustling Paris and traveled south to the cool, spacious comfort of Hotel Du Forum. As a result, our time spent in Arles was the best part of our trip to France.

Location, location, location. That is what makes this hotel a great place to stay. The room was very spacious. However, being such an old building, it really needs some work.

The hotel was in a great location, very central! The staff were very helpful and always friendly. The room furnishings were a little hodge podge but the rooms are enourmous!

From the moment we arrived, we received outstanding and friendly service from all Forum staff -- who parked our car, recommended terrific restaurants, brought us glasses to use for our own wine by the pool, and provided directions to attractions beyond Arles. Our group of four felt entirely at home and enjoyed the poolside garden by day and the bar and poolroom by night. And the location could not have been more convenient to the market and historic sites.

Excellent hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spent 2 weeks in southern France and this was the best place I stayed. Finding it via driving into town a little awkward but was an adventure. Cannot go wrong staying here.

This is now my 2nd time staying at this hotel. Whenever I go to Arles, this is the only hotel that I will stay at. The location is great. From the hotel you are a short walk from the major activities within the city. It is also centrally located to a number of great restaurants and night activities. You only have to walk just outside of the hotel entrance to find 7-8 different places to eat. We travel around the ciy during the day then always pick a new place to eat for dinner, just a few steps away

We enjoyed our stay very much. We felt we had got the best room in the hotel. Windows were facing the square. We had a beautiful look on the place du Forum and life on the square and in the surrounding cafes and restaurants. Everything in Arles was in walking range. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The sevice was exellent.

This was an excellent hotel experience with absolutley execellent staff. We cut our stay in Arles short, but this should not reflect upon the facility or the staff. The staff was of the kindest and most congenial we've experienced in the last 20 years.

It was a lovely old hotel right in the middle of the city. Staff were very friendly. My room looked out onto the swimming pool -- very bright and sunny. One can walk everywhere in Arles from this hotel. There are nice restaurants on the square where the hotel is located. I highly recommend this hotel.

I just can't say enough good things about the Du Forum Hotel. If I could rate it a "6" out of five I would. Our room was big, clean, inexpensive, and quiet. The public areas (including a swimming pool)are first rate, and the town of Arles is a great place to stay and do day trips from.

A very characterful hotel located superbly in the centre of town. The pool is delightful, the room was immense and the staff helpful. This is a hotel trading on somewhat faded glories, but that adds charm.

Good service, swimming pool and excellent location at central Arles. Approach by car is not easy and limited parking space by hotel were the only hard points but overall rate is very good.

This elegant old family-run hotel is a delight. In the heart of Arles, it's been modernized well and unobtrusively, and is spacious, cool and relaxed. The staff are very welcoming, and the rooms are airy and uncluttered, with some great views. A bonus is the swimming pool, set in a lovely outdoor courtyard.

Excellent location. The air conditioning, size of the room were good. Swimming pool is a very nice touch. The only minor complaint is that the shower/bathtub didn't have a shower curtain, a common occurance in French hotels. Also the wake up call programming performed by the reception desk didn't work but the taxi that was ordered at a very early time to take us to the airport was exactly on time.
