Grand Hotel du Golfe - Argelès-sur-Mer

Generally a great place, very minimalist and simple but very stylish, especially the bar and "restaurant" It could be a really great hotel if they offered food, especially because there is absolutely NOWHERE TO EAT NEARBY! without driving for 15/20 mins. They offer a very limited menu at night, only simple tapas,which you wouldn't want more than once. If they offered a decent, fresh menu, which changed regularly, it would be a superb hotel. Nowhere did it mention that they didn't do food or that there was nowhere to eat nearby. Rooms clinical but clean, beds very comfortable, air con excellent and efficient. However our room wasn't what it should have been - we should have had a loggia balcony for a Prestige room, which it didn't have, it merely had railings so that you could open the patio doors and not fall out - that's not the same as a loggia balcony and we were very disappointed about that, we felt the hotel had short changed us. The really need to provide tea and coffee making facilities too for the price they charge. Don't go for standard rooms, they're tiny! On the whole a good hotel, but not a great hotel. If they did all of the above, it could be great and we'd stay there again. NB, nowhere near the sea, although we did have a sea view.
