Hotel Casa Rustica - Antigua Guatemala

The staff at the desk was very helpful with directions and finding a hair dryer to use. The room and grounds were very neat and well kept. The location is very near the center square and convenient to walk to many things in the city. The courtyard was a very pleasant place to relax and do a bit of reading when we weren't out and about exploring the city. There was a bit of noise during the nights of our stay until midnight to 1am or so. It was noticeable, but not so loud that we could not sleep when we wanted to. A fan in the room was useful for providing a bit of white noise to drown out the outside bar music.

This is the best hotel in Antigua and Central America!!! The staff are top notch!!!! the location - brilliant!!! the lovely dogs run the front door too...

The staff was great. Location too. Bar right across the street for those who like the night life. I hear it could be loud on the weekends. I was there on a Sunday/Monday. I am in love with Rosie who works thier. She was so nice. I will stay there on my next trip. I stayed in room 11 a double with private bath.

Great location. Great service. Rooms vary greatly in size. Kitchen facilities available. Can be a little noisy, mainly on the weekends. Pool table available to use (one of the few in the area)

I have been to Antigua 6 times over 20 years. It was my first and last time at the Casa Rustica. The hotel is two doors down from a bar that has live music. You will see a notice posted inside the door of your room that there will be noise from the bar and that the sound ordinance in Antigua permits this noise until something like 2:00AM. THIS SHOULD BE MADE CLEAR IN THE ADVERTISED DETAILS ABOUT THE HOTEL. Also, to use your credit card to pay, they charge 12%!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is posted in a single smallish plaque next to the check in desk. IF THE CHARGE IS GOING TO BE 12% TO USE YOUR CARD THEY SHOULD HAVE LARGE SIGNS SAYING THIS. I have been to Guatemala 8 times and nowhere else in Antigua or Guatemala have I been charged to use the credit card. Also, now that I am going, inside the hotel rooms in Guatemala it is required to list the maximum price that the hotel can charge guests for the room, in any season. What we payed was more than double the allowable price.

The hotel itself has a lot to offer: location a block away from the main square, attractive common areas including a TV and well-equipped kitchen with free purified water and internet, travel agent services and information, nice rooms with patio access, excellent staff reception. Not the hotel's fault -- roosters at sunrise! Just get over it! I'd return to and recommend the hotel without hesitation.

Hotel owner and staff all very friendly and helpful. The hotel staff made all travel arrangements at the hotel desk for day trips. The quality and safety level of the various transportation vendors varied greatly and one vendor would be considered unsafe and unprofessinal. The vendor's van was in poor condition, and the driver put out 12 passengers in the Central Park in the pouring rain rather than returning to hotels as everyone expected.

The people are very nice and the tv and other entertainment was great. The hotel could use a carpet in the kitchen and tv room so the noise does not carry so much into the rooms.
