Location was good, staff welcoming. We did not realise we had reserved a self-service apartment so were unprepared for the additional charge for cleaning. Nor were we expecting to buy/bring our own toilet paper and towels (other than the initial allocation). Overall, good value for the money, even with the additional cleaning charge. Aircon was the best!!! And balcony made the stay very pleasant.

I love this hotel, it looks more like a residence, you are free to come and go whenever you want, the rooms are huge with big bathroom and some with balcony. There's a parking for the guests and you have free wi-fi access.

There were no written directions to the hotel, and the map was very difficult to read. Therefore it was hard to find. The balcony doors didn't lock, wich wasn't very reassuring for security. Reception closed early, and wasn't available for check in.

I travelled with my husband for a weekend away without our little girl (31 weeks pregnant so not looking for big night life or anything). The Hotel Astor is a basic and OLD 2* hotel....and it lives up to that BUT it was VERY clean and the rooms were very large - so in my opinion well worth it.... when you compared it to teh prices of other hotels. we had to wait a couple of mins for the owner to arive but there are tabels and chairs outside so its fine. Nice for an afternoon drink in the sunshine actually. Breakfast wae 7euro pp - but we didnt eat as the spa supermarket was on just down the road and we just had food from there. Once you knew where the hotel was (just up the street from the large spa supermarket (we asked inside and the guy knew exactly where we wanted to be - about 5 mins walk away) it was it was quite easy to find and only about 5-10 mins walk into the centre Juan les pins and the beach etc. You have the bus top just along the road from the Hotel outside the spa(the number 200) which gets you to and from the airport for 1 euor. The hotel is up a small road just opposite the flyover for the train terminal.... that is easy to find. We had a tv, foreign satalite tv, wardroabs, table and chairs etc with a bath and seperate shower. We asked for more pillows and got them straight away and the guy gave us a map which helped get our bearings. Not a bad place just a bit run down i say. Juan les pins was VERY expensive 5 euro for a diet coke in one restaurant! and 3.50 for a coffee etc but quite a nice place. We def recommend a sandwich shop/cafe called Panin's of something like that - they only sell sandwiches, pizzas and chip but all excellent (stone baked pizza) very cheap..... and they have fridges full of cold drinks at not much more than supermarket prices - 5 euro for a bottle of rose wine!). Its near the end of the promenade (not far from the VERY CLEAN public toilets on teh beach)if you walk left if you have the neach in front o

posizione tranquilla e a 5 min.dal centro, purtroppo la nostra camera era un po' in basso e poco panoramica ma l'hotel dispone anche di posizioni piu'felici prenotando con netto anticipo, comunque hotel consigliabile per un bel week end.

The hotel was well located. Close to the railway station (but you have to climb the bridge and the steps over the railway. No disturbing noise. Less than 10 min to the beach. Interior in the colours of the 60 or 70ies.

J.C. was very prompt meeting us and made our coming and going very effortless. Breakfast in the room was lovely. Lime trees outside the window. The location is fine, though you have to walk through a colorless little stretch of road and cross a sketchy looking bridge to the Juan les Pins RR station area to get into the old town, but it's a very short walk, even to the beach or old Antibes. The bathroom was enormous, compared to others in Europe.

Very good value hotel in an expensive area... quiet & residential area within walking distance of the sea and train. Only issue is that it is hard to find based on limited directions. Appreciate having a parking.

Very nice hotel. We had breakfast the first morning which was reasonably priced. there was 8 of us in the group in the hotel. My room had a damp smell but the others were perfect. For what we paid for the hotel it was of a high standard. My only negative is the directions are terrible!!!!! There are no taxi's outside the train station so we ended up walking for an hour in the midday sun. One of the group had sat nav on his mobile phone so that got us there eventually. We probably could have done a better job at reading the map... but it is quite vague. When we went out for dinner that evening we were amazed to find out that we were only a 4-5 min walk form the train station!!! Only 10 minute walk from the beach! I know other guests have complained of the same thing so something should be done.... organise a pick up from station or improve the map!!! Juan les Pins is a gorgeous town with good food, wine and beautiful beaches. We had a lovely time and i would definitly stay in the Hotel Astor again.... now I know the way:->

The hotel's in a good location if you want to split your time between Antibes and St Juan les Pins. The room we stayed in was clean, spacious and well air conditioned, but was on the lower ground floor and dark and a little dank. The staff, if not actively welcoming, are friendly enough and helpful. And the breakfast is about the same as you'd get for the money on the seafront in St Juan les Pins. All in all, if you stay there you can have a pleasant time, but you wont be remembering it as the highlight of a trip!

I met the several kinds of wastern couples and families with older children in this hotel. They seemed politely and pleasant. After my arriving at hotel Astor, the hotel staff gave me the city map of Antibes, Juan-les-Pins with some information downtown in English fluently. That advice was useful for my first trip around this area.

High standard 2 star hotels (could easily be a 3 star). Staff was very help full and also spoke English. We stayed 3 persons in a big room with real beds (no bed sofa) but also a table. It was very clean and spacious compared to other hotels at the French Riviera! We spent 3 night and it was great for your long weekend. It took around 5-10 minutes to walk to the centre or to the closest publish beach.

Very pleasant 5 nights stay at the Astor. Great hotel for people who want to tour the area and not spend too much on hotel facilities you hardly use. On arriving met with the owner, who was cheery and helpful. The tourist map he gave us came in v.useful when we got lost walking to Antibes! First impressions, bit disppointed no balcony (as we'd booked in Feb and my partner likes to watch aeroplanes!) and two teenage sons not impressed they had to share a double bed! (had asked for a twin when booking) but on plus side, rooms were quiet, had air-con and we weren't bothered by any of the train noise. A kettle would have been useful for hot drinks as this is a residential area. We used takeaway pizza and late night shop just down from station. Location perfect for trains to Monaco/Cannes/Nice - station 5 mins, beach 10 mins. Loved the beaches at Juan (bit crowded) and Antibes (Plage du Ponteil) - all walkable. Plenty of restaurants in Juan (you can even eat on the beach!). We also caught train to St.Raphael (nice coastal views) and then boat to St.Tropez - v.enjoyable trip. Overall, would gladly recommend this hotel to others and hope to return again.

a very nice place and with a high quality/price ratio. one tip: all the rooms can be converted in small apartments with the kitchen if you give up the daily cleanings. and with no additional costs! so, you have to clean you room on your own (if you want), but you can do yur shopping in the nearby supermarket and ssave lots of money eating "at home" rather than being ripped off by local restaurants. I would suggest Astor Hotel to anyone going around Cóte d'Azúr!

A very nice experience at the Astor. The hotel has the feel of a small boutique kind of place. The rooms are surprisingly large. The host/manager was extremely friendly and accommodating with a sly sense of humour, and assisted us with some personal health-related issues by contacting a physician who made a house call to the hotel. For a North American, that was very unique. The breakfast was basic but well prepared and served out on the patio. The only advice I would give other travelers is to recognize that the directions to the hotel from the A8 make it sound very simple because they lead you to anticipate a signed choice point on to the road on which the hotel is situated. It's not, so get a map in advance.

On arrival we were met by a welcoming man who was very polite and also explained about the surrounding areas which was very helpful. A good central location for seeing the Cote d'Azur. The hotel was an excellent price . One draw back, price of the breakfast, slightly expensive at 7euros for bread, croissant, preserves, juice and coffee.

The room are very spacious. The breakfast isn't included in the price of the room, it costs 7 € for each person and it's quite good. The bathroom is big but not so much clean, instead the towels are changed every day! It's 15 minutes far from the centre of the antibes. I recommended this place for a short period.

The hotel is in a quiet residential area. We had a nice, large room that could have slept 4, though we were only two. The bath was quite spacious, as well. There was plenty of closet space. It would have been nice for an extended stay. On arrival, there was no one in the reception area (about 1400 hours), but when I rang the bell, someone answered and the key to our room was hidden nearby. The only public area was the outdoor terrace where breakfast was served, which was a little cool at the end of September. We walked to Antibes, but that might be far for some. We easily walked to Juan-les-Pins centre, which we actually enjoyed more than Antibes. The hotel was easy to drive to and we would return to this hotel, if ever in the area again.

Chiara & Daniele

The guy at the front desk spoke good english and was very helpful. The (triple) room was nice and large with a table and chairs. It is located in a very quiet residential neighborhood. It advertises a few steps from the beach but it's more like a 10-15 minute walk. It takes about 5-10 minutes to the Juan les Pins train station. Convinient but, unforunately, the express train does not stop there. There are many restaurants and stores within (at most) 15-20 minute walk. If you want a nice, clean, quiet place to stay, this is it.
