Hotel La Charpenterie - Talloires Annecy

A really lovely hotel, write in the centre of Talloires. Friendly service, and good clean rooms. Only shame was that our 'mountain view' looked onto the car park, with a mountain behind other buildings. The restaurant at the hotel does very good food, but I think overpriced. But the location is superb. I would recommend this hotel.

We loved the hotel. Mixture of wood and funky lighting in the lounge creates a cool, calm, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Quiet location, very helpful staff. Caters to all, may be noisier in main season from July. We used public transport only, and there are infrequent buses to Annecy before July. It's a beautiful place to stay. Bedrooms lovely but not equipped with a fridge. We were lent a small fridge which was placed in the bathroom because it was noisy.

The Hotel is very nice and has a beautiful view. It is in the midle of a residencial area and there is no restaurants around, which can be great but was not what we were expecting. Firstly we wanted to be in Annecy city and this Hotel is on Annecy lake, fact that was not very clear to us on the hotel's description, specially because there is one street with the same name of the hotel's street in Annecy city and this fact made us loose a lot of time looking for the hotel in Annecy city when actually the hotel is about 30/40 min (by car) far from there. In the end we decided to enjoy our stay in the lake of Annecy and everything was very nice. The hotel is simple but nice and clean. We only stayed there for one night.

We were greeted well and without fuss by the hotel reception and immediately given the key to our room. We had a room on the second floor. The bed was comfotable. The room was clean. The view of the lake (and mountains) was obstructed somewhat by other hotels between the lake and our hotel. The bath towels were small but adequate. We arrived on a sunny, warm day. So we sat out on the small balcony - there are larger balconies on lower floors. There was another floor above us. When we were on the bacony a smoker from the room above came out and lit up a cigarette and the smoke came down to us as well as into our room so we couldn't leave the doors or windows open. There was also a bit of noise (doors opening and closing -running water through pipes) as a result of having neighbours or generally others in the hotel, so we were woken by early risers or latecomers. We had a lovely stay in this hotel. The restaurant was very good and the current French chef has worked in the UK, I am sure there was a banoffee pie (called something else) on the menu! There is a general sitting area around reception - we didn't use this and no one else seemed to but it was the quiet season (April 09).

I and my girlfriend stayed here for one day in April for a Volkswagen Meeting. The hotel was 2 minutes from the meeting, our lake view room had a terrace facing the lake (the lake is at around 200 meters). The hotel is little but nice and quiet, not luxury. There is also a restaurant and it seems appreciated since it was full of people there. It is recommended for those who like simple but effective hotels.
