Hotel Carmencita - Anacapri, Capri

Great location. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast.

One of the few B&B hotels offering free Internet in Capri/Anacapri. Staff were very thoughtful and attentive to our needs. me and my boyfriend got more than execpected!

Capri is beautiful and worth a visit - but it is not cheap. But that said, the Hotel Carmencita was disappointing - it boasts three stars, but frankly is a two-star hotel, with three-star pretensions, charging four-star prices! It was easy enough to find - the bus from Marina Grande takes about 15 minutes, but you may want to keep your eyes shut at the top of the mountain! Get off at the third stop in Anacapri. We paid 155 euros per night - a lot for budget-conscious travellers like us, but we wanted to splash out a bit on this one, so perhaps our expectations were too high, but the Hotel Carmencita had all the charm of a 1970s boarding-house. Admittedly it has a beautiful pool set in nice grounds - which is probably what you're paying for - but the room itself was tiny and the bathroom equally small. Good shower pressure (although the water went hot-cold-hot-cold), but an aged flowery shower curtain and with towels which were old, tired and made of a cotton/sandpaper mix. You get the air conditioning remote on request from reception - I was surprised not to be charged extra... All in all the room - which we had paid extra for as a "superior double with balcony and pool view" was 'superior' only in that it was on the second floor. There was a TV, but only terrestrial stations and poor reception, no fridge or minibar, toiletries were meagre and internet access is available at 2 euros for 15 minutes - there is no WiFi. Breakfast was the basic continental minimum - 2 croissants, 2 rolls, packaged toast, juice in plastic cups, yoghurt, coffee. A family run business, the mother and son were polite enough, but father less so. We had a lovely time on Capri, but left the hotel feeling royally ripped off - next time we'll look elsewhere...

Stayed at Carmencita mid september for 4 nights. Great price for area. Minutes away from shopping area and Monte Solaro chairlift. Villa San Michele was also only 10 minute walk and the bus stop was near the hotel. Friendly staff, we didn't have a problem with them. Nice very clean pool to cool off in after sightseeing. Convenient internet point in lobby, across the street excellent restaurant La Rondinella. We even got take away pizza one night, inexpensive and filling. Next to restaurant large shop with vegetables fruit, deli, cheese, wine etc. Would stay here again if we returned to Capri. Quieter than Capri area (less daytrippers and cruise tourists) the whole island is quieter by 4:00 every night we were there.

Bit pricey will be worth it when swimming pool is ready. staff bit annoying at times (charging extra if you have 2 coffees at breakfast). Cash only.
