I found the hotel to be of good quality with a friendly staff. The room and bathroom were very clean and appopriately furnished. My only misgiving would be over the size of the room. I had a double room for single use, but it was still quite cramped. It contained two single beds when there was really only space for one. The location was excellent for visiting the canals, museums, restaurants, bars etc. The continental breakfast (cheese, cold meats, cereals etc.) suited me fine. I would certainly return.

The price vs sleeping in an old matress is not worth it. Its better to go a bit further and have a proper matress which is important when traveling for pleasure.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The decor is unique and quirky. As with many old European cities, this hotel is made up of a few buildings joined together. We had the Old Dutch suite at the back with a private patio. There is a supermarket next door, so one night when we were tired, we grabbed some salads etc and ate on the patio. Although this suite is advertised as on the ground floor, there are 6 very steep stairs down when you open the hallway door. The bed was quite low which gave my husband a few problems ( bad knees). The bed is advertised as a double, but is is nearly queen size, so that was a bonus. There was a coffee/tea maker in the room, as well as a small fridge. We were very impressed with the staff- all requests were met with a smile, and they seemed to enjoy being helpful!Amazing and worth going back just for that reason. Breakfast is typical European - cold meat, cheeses, cold cereals, boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea. The coffee machine is available all day,( pay basis after breakfast hours.) The booths in the breakfast area double as a lounge during the day where you are welcome to use the free computer. We would definitely reccommend this hotel for its small size and helpful staff.

Stayed here with my two teenage daughters in a great loft bedroom with small living area. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great location for getting around Amsterdam and other nearby towns due to proximity to main train station.

Old Dutch Suite has a private garden, breakfast is good quality and enough before going for a walk in Amsterdam, the staff is very professionnal and very friendly, I only regret the noise of people in the night (from stairs or others rooms) but it seems to be normal in Amsterdam ( busy city) so it was a nice stay so I recommend especially that room in this hotel. There is a fridge in the room and everything for a free tea or coffee.Nice shower. It was my first time in Holland.

Excellent hotel opposite the Central Station. Interesting and imaginative train themed decor. Very good buffet breakfast. Rooms are VERY small but quiet and comfortable with good bathrooms. Friendly staff - all in all, highly recommended.

Pretty good hotel , kind staff, good included breakfast. The only problem we got: beds are too small and little bit unconfortable, the matress are too soft. However the services provides are very good and the kindness of the staff is excellent. I could recomend this hotel if you are not travelling with kids.

Everything as described in the website. Excellent location near the station and close to the centre. The brekfast is the only flaw: no fresh sweets but there are only packed butter and jams. However everything clean and abundant.

Pros: convenient location (literally across the street from Centraal Station), very friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast, fair price, interesting decor in lobby and breakfast area (the photographs in the breakfast area are stunning). Cons: Single room was TINY, dark (only one small window high on the wall near the ceiling) and could have been cleaner (the bathroom had various stains and streaks, though the bed linen and towels seemed fresh). Bed was also much too soft and saggy for full comfort. Room was in back part of hotel and very quiet, however, which was a plus. Was a bit surprised by the 3.75€ city tax requested upon checking which had to be paid in cash - not a big deal, but maybe could've been included in price. That said - the price was fair for Amsterdam, and the welcome was friendly and genuine. Free WiFi access in the room would have been nice, but it was easy enough using the free internet access computer in the lobby/breakfast area. I would consider staying here again in the future.

Well, it is Amsterdam, and for that you pay a premium. The room was quite small and two people with luggage was a tight squeeze. It's located quite conveniently close to Centraal Station. Breakfast was very good. Will I return? Yes, I guess.

I was very satisfied. Very friendly staff, which is not always the case in Holland. My only minor complaint is that the English channels on the TV weren't working (except for the BBC). Otherwise excellent. The A-Train will now be my regular hotel in Amsterdam.

Very Good choice. Mainly due to a very good location. Hotel is in front of central station. Prices are Correct but flexible. We stayed during National day so it was more expensive. Staff is very kind. We had a very pleasant stay in this hotel

This was my sec on stay. The pony complaint I have is that for the price charged per day,. there should be FREE WI-FI available in the rooms and/or lobby. The breakfast is a bit sparse, only half warm hard boiled eggs, no scrambled or fried and no bacon. The staff is super friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay once again.

Our stay at hotel A Train was fine. Its location was convnient for all the shops resteraunts and the Railway Station. Beakfast was contiental with a selection of cereals, meats cheeses and breads with tea coffee and Orange juice. The romm was small and clean woth a wet romm with a showe/toilet. The room serviceing could be improved the bed was made but a bit more cleaning could have been done.

Nice hotel with a train theme. Front rooms have quite a lot of road noise but this makes you feel part of Amsterdam! No air conditioning so you might need the windows open in warm weather. Friendly and competent service. Overall a good value hotel for Amsterdam.

The A-train hotel is very close to the Central Station, which is extremely helpful in Amsterdam. My husband and I stayed in a family room with our 3 children. The room was very quiet and spacious for Amsterdam standards. The only inconvenience was that the shower has no curtain or shower door, which spills water all over the bathroom. Breakfast was simple but good, and the front desk people spoke good English. We will stay at the A-Train Hotel again if we go back to Amsterdam.
