Excellent location! In a city like Amsterdam, there's so much to do that all you really need is a place to stay. There was so much to do right outside of our hotel: shopping, lots of great restaurants, canal tour, you name it! I would definitely recommend this hotel, based on the location alone.

Double rooms on the ground and 2nd floor were small and view with the ventilation. But the more expensive top floor had a nice canal view and was wider. So we stayed in a triple room although we're just two.

The hotel and the visit to Amsterdam was over my expectations! I am very satisfied with the stay at the hotel. The surroundings was perfect. It was close to the beautiful Vondelpark, and the pubs/nightclubs in the area were great. The room and view from the window was a great surprise, The pictures on the homepage did not show that at all. On the homepage the rooms seemed to be older and more Worn-out. I did not expect to see the water from the hotel room window! We stayed only for four days, but managed to do a lot of things during that time because we did not have to travel far to find things and places that we wanted to see, everything we wanted to do could we find in the surroundings of the hotel.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I was expecting quite a crappy dirty hotel but I was amazed by how tidy and spacious the rooms are. Bathroom big and clean, new towels every day, excellent view from the balcony. Superb front desk service. Competitive price. I had read a lot of bad reviews so I was not quite sure of the quality of the Quentin Hotel, but let me tell you that after having stayed there I would recommend it to anyone.

First we found ourselves in a dirty smelly cellar room. After our complaint we were sent to another place where we stayed in a garden shed.

We (me and 2 friends) would recommend the Quentin Hotel to everyone who wants to have fun. It is very central - 2 minutes on foot to the Leidsepleine, but at night it is (nearly) quiet because it is round the corner to the "night-life-street"... Amsterdam is very small for a "big city" and so your can reach everything on foot from the hotel. You can reach the Vondelpark in approximately 10 minutes and the central station in about 25 minutes (on foot!).

What a dump! The Quentin is in a great location central to all the restaurants and museums and located on a side street along one of the canals. But essentially it looks as though no one has done any upkeep in the 7 or 10 years since it was last renovated. I didn't expect a lot for the price (69 euro) but as I was on a long layover didn't feel like paying a lot either. Just a few of the broken things: bath towell rack, handspray holder for shower, lights on bed, cigarette burns on table, dirty paint on walls, worn carpet-even the TV remote didn't work (20e deposit required!). I've stayed in worse but not much. Save your money and cough up the bucks for the Hotel Amercan around the corner.

This hotel had a number of problems. First as soon as we arrived they asked for payment up front in cash. Credit cards cost 5% extra. We asked for a non smoking room and were given a room that had a strong smell of smoke. There was an ash tray in the room so it was obviously not a non-smoking room. When we asked for a different room we were told there were no others and that the hotel can't stop guests smoking. In other words there is no respect for the guest's wishes. The room was very very small. We stayed in a double room. The room is only as wide as the bed. You have to crawl over the other person to get into bed. The television was up high on top of the wardrobe. There is no remote control so you have to climb on the table to get to the television controls. When we asked for a remote control the lady at reception immediately demanded 20 euros then said she couldn't find the remote control. The room keeping is sloppy too with no soap or towels in the room when we arrived. Behind the hotel is a construction site which started making nose at 8am every morning. The hotel has no facilities for internet and no breakfast included in the price. I would never stay at this hotel again.

la posizione dell'hotel è comoda per i collegamenti e i mezzi pubblici, la stanza è veramente indecente, piccola e maltenuta, non sporca ma trascurata, non lo consiglio per niente!

This was the worst "hotel" i have ever stayed in and i would not recommend anybody to stay in it. It was a glorified hostel with the price of a nice hotel. The Clerk at the desk made a mistake with our booking and was going to charge us for 2 rooms for there ineptitude. I would be embarrased to be associated with this "hotel" as everything about it was bad. Bad service, bad room, missleading advice and the most expensive nite in a hostel.

I would warn anyone intending to stay at this hotel to look elsewhere. This holiday was planned six months in advance for our wedding anniversary and we requested a room with a canal view. When we arrived we were given a basement room that was extremely small and dark with a tiny window that looked onto the steps outside about two feet away which was bad enough but the smell was unbearable. The room actually smelled of sewage! The carpet was stained and sticky under foot. We refused the room and after complaining at reception were given the last available room on the third floor. We were told that the room did not have air conditioning but we did not realise what a problem this would be. The room was basic but did overlook the canal and we were relieved to be away from the smell. Unfortunately this room was also not what we would have expected. The window opened only slightly and the room was in full sunshine. We were in Amsterdam in extreme heat and the room was so hot we stayed away from it as much as possible. On a night it was so hot that sleeping was impossible. I know the hotel cannot be blamed for the weather but the staff admitted that they knew that heat was a problem in this room so why had they not at least provided a fan. The lift was very unreliable and was broken more often than it worked. At first we laughed at the lift being like the Tower of Terror in the Disney theme park. We were slightly less amused on the last day when yet again the lift was out of order and we had to carry our luggage down three flights of stairs. If anyone has been to Amsterdam then you'll understand that in old buildings the stairs are difficult even without luggage. We stayed five nights and in this time our sheets were changed once. We had two hand towels but no bath towels and when we asked for bath towels for the rest of our stay we had two bath towels but no hand towels and on one occasion there were no towels in the room and I had to go looking for some. The stay was the

This hotel was an unfortunate experience. We were stuck in a foul smelling basement, the odor being sewer gas. The shower drain was malfunctioning and flooded the bathroom. The room was supposed to have a telephone, but there was no phone, the excuse being that the "lines were being worked on". Based on this experience, my travelling partner and I would not recommend the hotel to others.

It also says that the hotel is recently renovated, don´t think so!! The room we had, had a very dirty carpet!! Our room was also so small, that we could´nt have our suitcase on the floor!! We had to put it on top of the desk!! When one person was standing in the room, the other person had to sit on the bed!! We are dissapointed!!! It was expencive enough!!!
