Memphis Hotel - Amsterdam

Our first room was a desaster! To small for 3 people! It was max. for 2! They just put an extrabed at the bottom of the twinbed! So there was no more space at all in the room. The room was soooo dirty. I have never ever seen something like this in my hole life! The curtains were brown and the wall full of dirt. The bathroom had hair on the floor and the bath was not clean eather. We got a second room, which was not cleaner but a little bit bigger. After we complained again they swiched us to theyre suite. The suit was in the basement! (underground). We had no windows and no fresh air. The fridge did not work and was never repared during our stay. The room was also full of moths. We killed around thirty of them. For a 4 star hotel not acceptable!!!!!

A great place to base ourselves for a 4 day stay in Amsterdam. It's in a lovely local area, close to a cafe, organic grocer and a few restaurants. Transport on the tram 16 into the centre is 'a piece of cake' from here. We'll rent a yellow bike on our next visit. We'd recommend Hotel Memphis.

Clean, small, simple. Thats the good facts. Very small room, NEEDS renovation. Simple breakfast. The hotel offers bisicles for 13€ the day.

Hotel Memphis met completely my standards, it is quiet, clean and relaxing, is located in a nice area at a walking distance from the museums and is very well served by public transportation

Only 10 minutes of tram to reach Dam in the centre of the city. The stop is in front of the hotel. Modern and clean rooms. Situaded in a very quite area not far from the centre.

location: for us pretty good, the hotel is easy to find, wether you come by car or by train & public transport. Tram & Bus is about 100..200m away, Tram (#16) goes directly to museums place or through the city to the central station. In the opposite direction the Tram stops at Olympic stadium where a large parking house is situated. If you park there you can receive at the cashier a return ticket for yourself and your passengers for free. A ticket which covers the entire city center (large area) costs 1€60 and can be bought at the driver. Stripe cards can be bought in supermarkets. Parking in front of the hotel is possible but very expensive. For a very short stop it' s OK. The hotel resides in a residential area with nice brick houses and only little traffic. We liked that. If you don't mind you can walk to where the city starts within about 15min, either directly along the street were the Tram goes or through Vondelpark (must see) which takes a little more time, but makes more fun. Surroundings: Little shops, a few restaurants. Not too much. rooms: we had 2 different rooms, the smaller one was quite small the other one was OK from the size point of view. What we missed in both was a possibility to store some clothes. Only a small wardrobe no cabinet etc. Only little place for luggage. The rooms were quiet regarding outside noise but can be noisy regarding neighbour noise. Beds are good, air conditioning is necessary sometimes but it's standard. In one of our rooms neither the safe was working nor the fridge. TV seemed to work (we didn't use), WLAN was good and without add. cost (password from reception) breakfast: buffet was OK, cleanliness: At the first sight good, looking more to details, well.... (as in many hotels) room service: cleaned up every! day, Was good. bar: closes at 12pm (rather early), mostly empty, but you can get something, if you need Staff: friendly. Overall: OK..Good, regarding location & price (compared to others): good choice.

El hotel está estupendo relación calidad/precio. Las habitaciones son limpias, lo suficientemente espaciosas y cómodas. Al centro puedes ir andando (20 minutos),ó si lo prefieres en tranvía. La comunicación es muy buena (incluso hay buhos que dejan cerquísima). Pegas: con las ventanas abiertas hay ruido de tranvías y autobuses, el mueble bar estaba vacío (sólo agua) y en cuanto al precio no incluyen las tasas de la ciudad y nos intentaron cobrar el desayuno aparte pese a estar incluído (cuidado!). Otra cosa; hay dos autobueses (el 197 y el 370) que van directos del aeropuerto a Museunpleim y de ahí cinco minutos andando, lo recomiendo, es mucho mejor que la opción que dan en la página del hotel, más rápida (30 minutos) y más barata (incluso se puede utilizar la tajeta).

A great place to stay in Amsterdam, especially if you're looking for quiet. The city center is a 30 minute walk away, which for us was great as we are walkers. The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum were just a 10 minute walk. Trams (#16) that will take you into the city center and to and from the train station stop near the hotel. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the breakfast was more than adequate. All-in-all, we recommend this hotel, especially for those who are looking for a more peaceful place to stay.

A bit far from the center but very easy to reach with tram. Good breakfast. Quiet room.

It was a surprise that they were remodelling the hotel and that the city tax wasn't included in the price.

Very beutiful hotel in a quite residential area a little bit too far from the city centre, but very well served by public transportation.

Th situation of the hotel was good. Only around 10 min. by tramway from the center of Amsterdam. The aera is very nice. It is around 15 min. by walk from the Van Gogh Museum. The room was good. The only thing is that the room smelt smoked cigarettes when we arrived. They charge Euro 17,50 for breakfast which is quite expensive. But you have some restaurant around the hotel which are less expensive. It is a good address to stay.

Quiet location, yet very close to public transportation, so easy to get to downtown. Surroundings is safe, quiet, yet poor wall isolation could make stay noisy if neighbours are. Excellent service. Airport shuttle in front of hotel is perfect.

A wonderful hotel in a convenient location. The lobby/bar/waiting area/breakfast decor was excellent and was great for coffee or evening drink. Helpful reception. Gym facilities. Convenient airport shuttle pick up. The only descripency would be making it clear that the breakfast was not included as in many hotels in Europe. Can be an expensive mistake at 17.00 Euro per person yet delicious.

The Hotel was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. How ever the hotel is a tram ride to the very centre of the city. Which is not too bad for it takes about 10mins and only cost 7 Euros for 15 trips which is great. I would definatley recommed this hotel to all my friends

An absolutely brillaint hotel, just ouutside the main area of Amsterdam. The trams were within 1 minute of the hotel. The area also has an abundance of excellent restaurants. If I go back I will again use this service and hotel.
