Hotel Reviews Lloyd Hotel

The cheapest room is very narrowly the shower and either is Boroboro. It was considerable shock because it paid attention to the designer hotel it and it reserved it. Rooms were able to be exchanged because it was not fortunately a busy season, and I think that you should reserve the room of a high price as such if staying here. The surrounding of the hotel includes the restaurant and the supermarket, etc. , and it is quiet and recommended in the lengthier stay. It might be unsuitable for a short-term traveler for a moment because it is a tram and there are three stations from a central station.

over-rated, over price and over there, i.e well away from city centre; not good value for money: €160 for what might have passed as a prison cell in Colditz; only saving grace is the dining hall, although breakfast rather limited; altogether an anti-climax

I thought it was a double bed room like one bed for 2 person and it was 2 beds of one person.

The hotel leaves strange impression, it's style and concept are not traditional. It can be a good choise for those, who like adventures. It is enough comfortable, clean and not far from the Central Station if you use tram.

The Hotel is nos situated in the city centre. You need to take the tram each time you want to somewhere. Anyway the hotel is worth visiting, it´s quite an interesting and different experience...

The most unique hotel I have ever stayed at, Lloyd hotel is a totally different hotel experience. If you pay the cheapest price, you will be given a shared bathroom that has creepy showers. It's all part of the "we used to be an asylum" thing. There are artsy places to read or study, and the restaurant is pretty good. I would stay again as a first choice in Amsterdam anytime.

This hotel is a concept hotel, and the concept "works" about 75% of the way. The concept is: Refurbish a hotel-turned-institution-turned-hotel, using modern european fixtures, furniture, etc.; But preserve much of the institution look & feel; e.g. keep the white ceramic tile walls and concrete floor (that were installed to "harden" the institutional rooms); Keep the institutional floor plan, which means only certain rooms get traditional bathrooms; others have the bathroom "in the room" (which, from reviews, seems to work sometimes, and not others); Promote the concept. While the idea is interesting, it comes up just short of "wonderful". It's ok, and I'd go again, but only if it's just me - and not my spouse. Hits: The WiFi "just worked"; The TV had a reasonable selection of channels in English (not huge, but enough); The beds / pillows were great. Misses: In the attempt to preserve the old character, they didn't install significant lighting. It's inadequate, and inconvenient; They preserved "too much" of the old character. It's not edgy / cool enough. For example, all the floors are bare concrete. I'd have put *some* modern floor coverings (of some cool kind) down in at least a portion of the areas, both for aesthetics, and for sound dampening; Though I had a regular bathroom, others have clearly complained about the shower-in-room setup; The personnel / service was uneven (for example, one night in the restaurant, I couldn't get people to help me. The next, they happily kept serving new arrivals in the restaurant as they trickled in at 10, then 11pm, then 12am, and even later. Checkin help was a little snotty; checkout help was wonderful). The location is "out" of downtown, but there's good bus & tram service, and I don't think this is an issue. The price was right, it's an ok place to hang out, and so I'll go again. But be advised - it's a concept that "kind of" works, but kind-of not.

Visitors to Amsterdam with a sense of humor might like the Lloyd Hotel. Located on the docks in the eastern part of the city, the hotel was built in the early 20th century by the Lloyd shipping line as housing for emigrants to the New World who were about to embark. During the Nazi occupation it was used as a prison, then later as a juvenile prison, then it was abandoned for a time before being completely renovated and made into a hotel again. The architects upgraded it to modern standards, but showed some quirky ideas in the layout. Your room might contain a bathtub in the center, or a shower head might protrude from one wall, although all properly tiled and drained. Much of the original tile and brickwork has been preserved, to remind one of the melancholy history of the place. Tucked up under my down comforter in our room under the eaves, looking out at the lights shining on the water and hearing the cries of the circling gulls, I felt as if I was about to embark for the New World. On the ground floor, located in a dramatic high-ceilinged space, there is an excellent restaurant, a good thing as there are not many dining opportunities in the neighborhood. Curiously, a restaurant that vaunts its reliance on locally grown, organic, produce allows its patrons to smoke at the table, which pretty much destroys the point of the whole thing. The hotel is located away from the main Amsterdam attractions that most tourists come to see, but the Number 10 tram, which stops close by, whisks you to the Rijkmuseum in 13 minutes flat.

I read an article about this new hotel in the New York Times and decided to give it a try on my next visit to Amsterdam. It's hard to say what it is about the Lloyd hotel I liked so much, but I guess that a place like this really is what amsterdam is all about.

We're very uncomfortable with this hotel, because the rooms don't have bath, at least in rooms that we was. The most incredible, is that in reception they said us, this hotel is that one star until five stars, and in the website don't say this, it's said 4 stars. But I don´t understand why rooms don't have bath. I want a explanation.
