I stayed here for the first time between 8th May and 10th May 2013. When we arrived, there were builders outside and the hotel front was being refurbished, which we were not told about but to be honest it did not matter to us. We arrived at the hotel tired from our trip and were able to check in 2 hours early at no extra charge which was brilliant. The room was clean but quite small but fine for 2 people for a couple of days. Our view was awful and looked into other windows which was rubbish as we had to have the curtains closed most of the time. Make sure you get a canal view room if you stay here! We tried to have a nap as soon as we arrived but there were builders banging for hours and we could not rest. This only happened on the first day though so not too bad. We had no hot water when we tried to shower but the helpful receptionist came straight up to the room and sorted it for us. The hotel Wi-fi connection was very fast but each time I locked my Iphone I then had to re-connect which was a bit annoying but the connection was very quick. The hotel is in a great location. If you come out of the hotel, turn left and left again, you are on a main road which has lovely shops and restaurants and even a Bulldog coffee shop! You can get tram 1,2 or 5 from there which takes you to Centraal station and is only a 10/15 min journey. If you choose to walk all the way up, in 20 mins you will arrive at Dam Square. The walk is nothing if you are shopping at the same time! On our last day, we asked for a later check-out which was given to us free of charge. We were going to leave our luggage at the hotel to go sightseeing on our last day but the receptionist advised us that Centraal Station had lockers that fit our suitcases which was very helpful as we were getting the train to the airport. Overall, it was a nice stay at this hotel as it was clean and comfortable but next time I would definitely get a canal view room. Would stay here again.

The most depressing hotel I've ever stayed in, felt like I was staying in a squat everytime I had to back there. Would never stay again, safe your money and don't bother. Tried desperatly to book into another hotel but as it was xmas period everything was fully booked. There is no reception, no breakfast room, just lots of slamming doors! The walls a wafer thin and the rooms are tiny with awful matresseses, half painted walls, paint all over curtains and a view of a brick wall. The rooms are clean though. The worst part is the entrance inside and out, I really did want to turn and run when I arrived, TERRIBLE HOTEL!!!

An earlier than 3pm check in time and a later than 11am check out would be good. The breakfast was as good, but finished at 9.30am extending it to 10 or 10.30am would also be good. The room was a good size for Amsterdam, especially for a basic hotel. The Hotel King was as we expected & good value for money.

The hotel is very close to Leidsplein, a square with many restaurants, stores and discos. Very close to everything in the city. Double room is a bit small, but good. Great value.

This is an excellent budget hotel in a great location. The rooms are small but adequate. There is a small and slow lift. The wifi works. The breakfast is better than average. The staff were all helpful. The only wee niggle is the charge of €3 to leave your bag after you check out and the outrageous charge to use your credit card, but they did warn me about that in advance. I'd happily stay there again.

The room was good, warm and clean, but the bathroom was so tiny. Climbing the stairs, was like climbing a wall, but they also have a thight lift that worked. The breakfast was good, but in a small place. Really close to the Vondelpark and to the place you buy the tickets to Keukenhof (tulips park). Bus 195 to Schipol and the tulips park is 3-minut walk, also trams to central station. If you choose the taxi boat service, it is less than 2-minute walk, just in front of the hotel. Really close to Leidestraadt e Leidesplein were you will find everything.

It is a very nice little hotel within a great area of the town! My suggestions to make the stay even more comfortable: - put some more towels into the bathroom and a mat to lay in front of the shower. The breakfastroom is a bit small so maybe the times for breakfast could run a bit longer.

Located just two blocks from Leidseplain square (losts of bars) may be a good choice if you're there to party. It's more like a youth hostel than a hotel. Very noisy at night, specially when people start coming back from the bars and are druk. One night someone tried to enter our room, probably someone that was lost and drunk, but it was not very nice. The room is small, with almost no space between the side of the bed and the wall. The bathroom was normal sized, but the soap dispenser in the shower was empty and one of the lights was not working.

In my opinion King hotel is located in the best area of Amsterdam: it's very near to the central area of the city, Dam Square,(you can arrive in the central area in 5 minutes with tram that you can catch every 10 minutes very near to the hotel)and it is located in a very nice area (with locals, coffee shops, restaurants,...). I am very pleased to have choosen this hotel for my stay in Amsterdam!

We stayed in a superior canalside room which meant we had a window with a view. Although the view isn't particularly stunning it's not bad and the window made the room seem reasonably cheerful. The room was a bit on the small side but clean and in a good state of repair. The room was quiet apart from a few of the other guests, but it was New Year's Eve in Amsterdam! There was a large wardrobe but no drawer space. The shower room was immaculate. I was a little put out to find we had to pay extra for the use of tea and coffee making facilities in our room - a fixed fee of 15 euros for the duration of our stay (3 nights). Breakfast was reasonable - not a vast amount of choice but adequate; cereals, orange juice, plain yoghurt, sliced bread, cheese, ham, salami and some crackerbreads plus tea/coffee and selection of jams. Location was excellent, easy to find, next to the main shopping street, not far from Dam Square, the museums and some of the prettiest canals. The stairs are very steep, but fortunately the lift was working. Definitely not for anyone with walking difficulties! Would I stay here again - yes probably - mainly because of the location - though I would definitely opt for the canal view again. I think it might seem a little cramped and depressing without that. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I was a bit anxious about booking this hotel having read some of the negative comments, but the hotel was fine. The rooms are small(ish) but clean, with shower room and flat-screen tv. Excellent location just around the corner from the Leidseplein which has plenty of bars & restaurant and easy access to the city centre/station via tram. Breakfast (included in the price) was basic but pleasant enough. Only one negative - due to the very steep stairs (there is a small lift)I would not recommend this hotel to senior citizens, families with small children, or persons suffering from vertigo.

The hotel is sub par to say the least, and for the price it is easily a rip off. The hotel staff is highly iritable and unhelpful. In sum, don't stay here.

Location was fantastic, it was close to the shops in the leidseplein and farily near to the Museum disctrict. We stayed on room #15 which was near to a hallway door which was noisy and could be a problem if the floor was fully booked (fortunately that was not our case) I suggest the administration to remove it or modify it. Breakfast was good but it has room from improvements.

Good position, blanquets with hairs all over, towels with brown spots detected, good breakfast and good-looking rooms. Advised for those who don't want to spend too much and get a medium-low quality service.

They do not accept the payment to the arrival but they expect advance payment. They add 6.5% of commisione with payment with credit card. The breakfast is poor. They expect the payment of 6,00 Euros to baggage for the warehouse in sun guard two hours, the day of the departure. They only lend an umbrella used and broken but with the bail of 3,5 euros. Optimal position, the smallest Room without closet, bathroom of 80 cm x 1,60 cm, new rooms sufficiently clean and. Recent restructure. Recente ristrutturazione.

I stayed at the King on a 4-night business trip. The staff and location were excellent. I was shown two rooms; a larger first-floor unit with exterior window, and a smaller third-floor unit with a window that opened onto a very small central courtyard. This was due to nearby construction, which was rather loud during daytime hours as the first-floor rooms' window opened onto the construction site. I selected the third-floor room, which was quite possibly the smallest room I've ever occupied outside of Asia (and was roughly comparable to the smallest room in Asia, though with a better bath. The room was however fairly comfy, and adequate for my needs. The bathroom was very pleasant, clean and with an adequate shower. The bed was very small; one arm hung off each side, and I had to sleep on my side in order to stay supported. It was also equipped with a wintertime duvet despite temperatures in the 30s (celsius), so every night was a sweat bath and I woke up soggy. Breakfast was adequate but unremarkable. Other than the construction, the location was very quiet, and comfortably close to tram stations and night life. The stairs were narrow and very steep, and the lift small and slow but serviceable and very quiet, Really quite perfect location. better bedding and air conditioning and the place would be perfect.

We stayed in Amsterdam to spend a long week-end during mid august. Hotel is very well positioned (very close to museums and close to city center) and it has a lift (so good with those steppy stairs!). We book a room with Canal View and that´s what we got. So far so good. What I didn´t like was the following: bad smell at common areas (hotel claims it´s because of building works behind the hotel but they were not doing anything about it), within the room there´s just a very simple cupboard with no shelves (no space to leave things tidy), windows could not be opened so during the afternoon/evening the room was very hot (no Air Cond.), and last but not least on our last day when we checked out we had to pay 3 euros for each piece of luggage we wanted to leave (our flight was late in the evening). As a wrap-up I wouldn´t recommend this hotel (unless for it´s strategic positioning).

Hay diferentes tipos de habitaciones. Vale la pena pagar un poco mas y tener vistas al canal y la habitacion un poco mas grande. Las habitaciones interiores son claustrofobicas. Bien situado

The rooms are TOO small, the windows do not open normally, the room lacked fresh air. There were construction works behind our window and we could not even open the window to let the air get in because of terrible noise.
