Good, friendly hotel and staff and good breakfast included in the price. Good location. Long narrow winding staircases to 4th floor but good view from balcony in room and staff carried my wife's case up. Additional 5% City tax added to the quoted cost. Happy to stay there again and would recommend to the reasonably fit. Understand that lower floors have ensuite rooms but shared toilet and shower were fine. Burning toast set off early morning fire alarms but think new toaster was then acquired.

As an older couple(81) we were treated with respect and the deskpersonal gave us totally unexpected, an apartment because I have a problem climbing stairs. I was extremely happy with this solution. Also they gave us a streetmap so we could easily find our goals, especially the Concertgebouw! This we call SERVICE. Restaurants, trams etc. are nearby and we certainly intend to come back. Thank you Hotel Washington!!

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel but the 4-storey climb to our hotel room (we were on the top floor) would not suit everyone (there are no elevators in canal houses); we liked having a balcony, however, so that was a plus. Someone helped us take our luggage up, mine though not my husband's, but since we left so early on our last day we didn't get help taking it down though I am sure we could have arranged to. Staff was very helpful, booked a cab to the airport for us and left us a boxed breakfast for the morning we left as we got going before breakfast was served. Great location, with the Van Gogh and Rijks museums and the concert hall nearby, along with a beautiful park, Vondalpark. Fairly quiet area as well although the hotel walls were quite thin.

Good enough for a couple of nights stay. Staff really kind. Good location for the Rijkmuseum and Van Gogh museum. Room for 4 people big enough. Careful : stairs very steep. Feels like visiting family old parents. Some nice restaurants in the main street nearby.

I booked a single, which was a very tiny room up 5 flights of typical Amsterdam very narrow stairs. Bathroom next door was convenient, and excellent tiny shower also right outside my door. If you can manage the climb, the room was fine for the money. Very quiet. Staff gracious and friendly, although didn't communicate well from one shift to the next. I was told someone could help me with my suitcase in the morning, but in the morning staff person said she couldn't. When I looked quite concerned about my ability to handle my suitcase down all of those narrow stairs, she changed her mine and helped. Staff did take it up on arrival. I had to leave in the morning before breakfast, but it was already laid out and looked lovely. I think for my budget room, my stay went as well as could be expected and was fine for one night before my trip home. Thanks again to the helpful staff!

Hotel was great value for money. A nice quiet location but you can easily walk or take the tram to the center. Also there is a nice area for shops, bars and restaurants only 5 minutes from the hotel. The shower was very nice and the room's facilities were superior. Beds were made up daily and towels changed. Breakfast was incredible! - not just a continental breakfast, along with cereal, bread, cakes, fruit, yogurt and pastries eggs are offered as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room was a bit on the small side, but in all other respects it was fine. Very friendly little hotel. Staff are excellent. Location really ideal to get to the pijp and the museum area. I would recommend it.

Small hotel conveniently located close to the museum quarter and four tram lines. Typical dutch small hotel. I booked the "Suite Deluxe" because I needed to work at a real desk. It is spacious and private (separate entrance next to hotel), but not particularly luxurious. The furniture, in particular, the kitchen look cheap and a bit worn. Beware that they add 4% to your bill when you pay with CC. This is mentioned in the small print, but I wasn't expecting it. Breakfast is as usual in Amsterdam, ie, nothing to brag about. Altogether, perfectly acceptable, if you get a good enough price for the room.

How to reach Hotel Washington
By car From Amsterdam Ring-A10, take either exit S-108 or S-109 in the direction of the city centre (Centrum). Both converge. Look for a Shell gas station on your right. After the Shell station, keep following the signs to Centrum, by turning left into the Hobbemakade. Turn left again at the first traffic lights, into the Roelof Hartstraat. Proceed straight on, pass another set of traffic lights and turn right into the Frans van Mierisstraat just before the second set of traffic lights. You will find the property at the end of the street at number 10. By train When you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, take city tram line 5 to the Concertgebouw-Museumplein stop on the Van Baerlestraat. Once on the street, walk in the direction of the tram. Turn left after three blocks into the Frans van Mierisstraat. Alternatively, take city tram line 16 or 24 to the Johannes Vermeerplein stop (there is a map showing the tram stops inside the tram, or else ask the driver). Walk about 10 metres in the opposite direction of the tram, and turn right into the Frans van Mierisstraat. By airplane From Schiphol airport take a train to Zuid-WTC railway station, then take tram line 5 to the central station, and follow as above.Distances from Hotel Washington
