I don't recommend this hotel to who has some disability or suffer by any knee or back problems because there is any elevator or even comfortable stairs. Also the rooms do not have any phone to call reception to get any help to sort ur room problem and you must walk down then go to the other building to sort out your problem. Also, rooms are not inclouded refrigerator. The neares supper market is 3km away. To summarized thid hotel is just recommended to young or healthy people that spend Whole their time out and just back to the hotel for sleep.

Great value for money in Amsterdam, a city difficult to find good accommodation for a reasonable price. We were upgraded to a room with private bathroom for free, even though we paid for a shared bathroom. This made it difficult to rate what we paid for, but the room was great. Brilliant calm location, 5 minutes from the museum plaza, clean room, new and spacious, friendly helpful staff. Will definitely return here for my next stay. Recommended!!

Recently renovated room was very comfortable except there was no phone which made it difficult to speak with hotel staff. It's a small hotel with no elevator & very steep tiny steps to climb which were difficult & dangerous (this is common in Amsterdam). We stayed on the 2nd floor & every evening we needed to walk down a very steep flight of stairs to ask for toilet paper & towels (which were old & scratch) - completely unacceptable that not enough was ever provided. Twice our room wasn't cleaned - apparently they had issues with their cleaning staff. The neighborhood was great & conveniently located to both Tram & Bus. The price/night was way too high for the service provided.

There were no hooks or places to hang or put the towels for three people, not enough space for luggage, only two bed tables. The three beds were too close to each other. Overall the room was not large enough for three adults. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

Very good Hotel. It is placed very close to the Museums area and easy to reach from the airport through a direct bus (197). Rooms were very clean and wide. It is located in a very calm area but not too far from the center. Stairs are steep, but this is what you should expect in most houses in Amsterdam center. Definitely recommended.

No free wifi, not enough pictures on the website. The shower hadn't curtain nor bath mat, so everything was wet and the floor is very slippery. Despite all this, the hotel was very quiet, a big room, and they were very nice with us.

Hotel washington is situated near the van gogh museum. In a quiet sidestreet and in reach of the tram/bus by five minutes. I stayed in a single room (24). The stairs are a little cliffy. The room is small but very clean. It is perfect for someone who does not spend to many time in the room. You sleep well because the neighbourhood is quiet. I only heard some stomping from above, but it did not matter. The bed is a little slim but confortable, the pillow is too small. Shower is small but also clean and the water drains of properly. The staff is competent but seemed a bit reserved what kind of resulted in me not feeling really welcome.wifi (5€) worked in the room.

This is the second time I´ve been there, and I would go back again. The hotel is very well located. Very near the museum quarter. Five minutes walking distance away. The trams are one minute away. We booked a room which was on the third floor and there is no lift. I complained that the stairs were too steep. The person who received us the night we got there, who happened to be the same pesrson who received us four years ago, promised me to change our room for one on the first floor, which are more expensive, for the same price. He gave us a great room with a balcony. Breakfast is included and it is really good.

There were 2 flights of stairs very steep to go upstairs, not suitable for older clients or with disabilities. No fire exit or external fire stairs visible. Carpet old and dirty on stairs and room. The bathroom was tiny and water from shower overflew. Lining curtains looked dirty and many drafts from the window. Female receptionist with long black hair upon arrival was arrogant and patronising. Staff at breakfast were much better. I would not recommend it.

This hotel is in an excellent location: a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to major museums and easy access to the fantastic tram system for getting from/to the train station and historic center. My room was a single en suite, perfect for my needs, but the stairs are steep so be prepared! I had limited interaction with the staff, but it was all positive. I would definitely stay here again (and try to find the garden next time!).

We thought the hotel and staff very pleasant but the smell of sewer gas permeated our 4th floor room at regular intervals. The vents for the hotel toilets were located on our balcony and the wind often blew it into our room. Also there was a smell of sewer gas frequently in our bathroom. Not sure where it originated but very unpleasant. At one point wedragged the poor receptionist up the 77 steps to our suite but of course when she arrived the smell was gone. I think the hotel is perfectly fine to stay in if you don't mind the steep stairs and avoid room #31. Liked the location very much

The hotel is small but the staff are very friendly. I stayed in a double bed room with shared bathroom, never had to wait to take shower or anything like that and the room is big enough, main problem was it's on a 4th floor no elevator but the view was really nice and the location was just perfect. In walking distance of nearly everything but also quiet at night

Good, friendly hotel and staff and good breakfast included in the price. Good location. Long narrow winding staircases to 4th floor but good view from balcony in room and staff carried my wife's case up. Additional 5% City tax added to the quoted cost. Happy to stay there again and would recommend to the reasonably fit. Understand that lower floors have ensuite rooms but shared toilet and shower were fine. Burning toast set off early morning fire alarms but think new toaster was then acquired.

As an older couple(81) we were treated with respect and the deskpersonal gave us totally unexpected, an apartment because I have a problem climbing stairs. I was extremely happy with this solution. Also they gave us a streetmap so we could easily find our goals, especially the Concertgebouw! This we call SERVICE. Restaurants, trams etc. are nearby and we certainly intend to come back. Thank you Hotel Washington!!

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel but the 4-storey climb to our hotel room (we were on the top floor) would not suit everyone (there are no elevators in canal houses); we liked having a balcony, however, so that was a plus. Someone helped us take our luggage up, mine though not my husband's, but since we left so early on our last day we didn't get help taking it down though I am sure we could have arranged to. Staff was very helpful, booked a cab to the airport for us and left us a boxed breakfast for the morning we left as we got going before breakfast was served. Great location, with the Van Gogh and Rijks museums and the concert hall nearby, along with a beautiful park, Vondalpark. Fairly quiet area as well although the hotel walls were quite thin.

Good enough for a couple of nights stay. Staff really kind. Good location for the Rijkmuseum and Van Gogh museum. Room for 4 people big enough. Careful : stairs very steep. Feels like visiting family old parents. Some nice restaurants in the main street nearby.

I booked a single, which was a very tiny room up 5 flights of typical Amsterdam very narrow stairs. Bathroom next door was convenient, and excellent tiny shower also right outside my door. If you can manage the climb, the room was fine for the money. Very quiet. Staff gracious and friendly, although didn't communicate well from one shift to the next. I was told someone could help me with my suitcase in the morning, but in the morning staff person said she couldn't. When I looked quite concerned about my ability to handle my suitcase down all of those narrow stairs, she changed her mine and helped. Staff did take it up on arrival. I had to leave in the morning before breakfast, but it was already laid out and looked lovely. I think for my budget room, my stay went as well as could be expected and was fine for one night before my trip home. Thanks again to the helpful staff!

Hotel was great value for money. A nice quiet location but you can easily walk or take the tram to the center. Also there is a nice area for shops, bars and restaurants only 5 minutes from the hotel. The shower was very nice and the room's facilities were superior. Beds were made up daily and towels changed. Breakfast was incredible! - not just a continental breakfast, along with cereal, bread, cakes, fruit, yogurt and pastries eggs are offered as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Small hotel conveniently located close to the museum quarter and four tram lines. Typical dutch small hotel. I booked the "Suite Deluxe" because I needed to work at a real desk. It is spacious and private (separate entrance next to hotel), but not particularly luxurious. The furniture, in particular, the kitchen look cheap and a bit worn. Beware that they add 4% to your bill when you pay with CC. This is mentioned in the small print, but I wasn't expecting it. Breakfast is as usual in Amsterdam, ie, nothing to brag about. Altogether, perfectly acceptable, if you get a good enough price for the room.

How to reach Hotel Washington

By car From Amsterdam Ring-A10, take either exit S-108 or S-109 in the direction of the city centre (Centrum). Both converge. Look for a Shell gas station on your right. After the Shell station, keep following the signs to Centrum, by turning left into the Hobbemakade. Turn left again at the first traffic lights, into the Roelof Hartstraat. Proceed straight on, pass another set of traffic lights and turn right into the Frans van Mierisstraat just before the second set of traffic lights. You will find the property at the end of the street at number 10. By train When you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, take city tram line 5 to the Concertgebouw-Museumplein stop on the Van Baerlestraat. Once on the street, walk in the direction of the tram. Turn left after three blocks into the Frans van Mierisstraat. Alternatively, take city tram line 16 or 24 to the Johannes Vermeerplein stop (there is a map showing the tram stops inside the tram, or else ask the driver). Walk about 10 metres in the opposite direction of the tram, and turn right into the Frans van Mierisstraat. By airplane From Schiphol airport take a train to Zuid-WTC railway station, then take tram line 5 to the central station, and follow as above.
