We had reserved a room at the Vondel hotel. Due to overbooking we were located in a nearby hotel Roemer. We were told that the room was a better than originally booked. We can well recommend this room #27: own small terase on the green inside park. Very good bed and pretty nice room. The hotel is very nice located close to Leidseplan but in a quiet residential street.

This hotel was an amazing value. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff was very accommodating. You can't beat the location. Its on a main street just off the gothic quarter. We crossed the street and were surrounded by small beautiful Barcelona alleys. The only problem were the twin beds were connected to make a queen size bed but there was no way to fasten them together. There may be a chance you will fall through the crack. Great hotel, great price.

The reason i gave a 4 for quitness of rooms is that we stayed in 104 and 106 and in the mornings we were woken by people walking on wooden floors and moving chairs in the restaurant which was directly over us. Also we didn't have breakfast as at 19.95 euro it was much to expensive. Everything else was fine and the location was perfect. The city was great.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay. The staff is usually polite and they assist as best as they can.

The rooms are small. Walls are quite tin so its a bit noisy inside. But generally it was OK. Good service at a reasonable price. Very good location.

perfect location in a beautiful street. A nice looking hotel rooms and a friendly staff. The room size was slightly small (compared to other 4 star hotels I have stayed in) but other than that a very positive experience.

Small and plain, but very friendly, with a lovely garden and sitting area attached to the hotel. Right next to Vondelpark in a very pleasant neighborhood, and a short walk from the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum.

The hotel staff was just excellent in every way. The only thing that threw me was the levels of stairs winding around and all the upping and downing to get to our room. This is a very old building that is renovated into a hotel. The stairs are STEEP and the elevators take you to the nearest level. The location was excellent, on a quiet street near to the museums and not far from the tram line. When you get off the tram and see the Marriot, it is on that little street. The breakfast was too expensive for us (19 euro) and we bypassed that, although I absolutely love having fresh coffee and a good breakfast at my hotel. I would absolutely stay here again in regards to the service and the location. Don't forget to purchase the Van Gogh Museum and Ann Frank House tickets on line to avoid the cues!

There was building work taking place outside our basement room. We asked to be moved and the staff were happy to oblige. The hotel has a stylish design, though looking a little worn in places. Excellent location between Vondel Park and Leidesplein

As a lot of customers already stated in other reviews here and on on other travel sites (trip advi.)it was very noisy. We stayed in a triple for 2 nights at $300+ per night from 5/10-5/12 and was woken up at 8am every morning. Heard people slamming doors, talking outside our room next to the lift, and heard every step the people above us took. The location was great close to the Park and in walking distance to everything with the option to ride on the #5 tram. I would consider this location again because of the location but high doubt it unless I got a promo rate or I was with a more rowdy crowd making all the noise.

The Vondel Amsterdam sits in a great location. Vondel Park is next door, the Van Ryks Museum and the Van Gogh Museum are two blocks away, the cafes of the Liedenpleine are two blocks north, and if you are so inclined, a casino is around the corner. The surroundings are peaceful. The room seemed a bit small for the price, but it was comfortable. The desk staff was very competent. I enjoyed the stay, and will likely return.

Nice place in a quiet area, close to the center and some famous museums (Rijks, Van Gogh)...contemporary rooms and public spaces...very friendly and helpful staff...some floors are actually under renovation, so it was quiet difficult to move and not very clean !

I have just returned from a two night stay at the Hotel Vondel and I would recommend it. We stayed in a twin room but was only allocated this on arrival and therefore had to move after the first night because the hotel is having a new lift installed. Both rooms we stayed in were nice but be careful of the sloping floors (no walls in Amsterdam are completely straight!). The hotel staff we very friendly and spoke excellent English. The choice of breakfast was good, I would recommend the pastries! The hotel is located in the museum district and is only a short walk from the Rijks and Van Gogh museums (which are a must) and exclusive shops along PC Hooft Straat. The tram stop to the Dam or Centraal Station (costs 1.60 Euros) and tourist infomation are just across the street (watch out for the mad drivers and equally mad cyclists!). If this is your first trip to Amsterdam (like me), I would suugest the canal trip, 11 Euro well spent.

Exquisite interior design!! Staff were extremely helpful in all respects. The only drawback was the loud environment during the night. So, one should go out!! Went to an Indonesian restaurant, Sama Sabo, recommded by staff, for an excellent Reistafel. Would also recommend SAMPURNA, Indonesian, along the Flower Market. They offer excellent quality and various Reistafels. Also enjoyed a jazz Brunch at the American Hotel on Sunday ...must reserve. Excellent value! The self serve restaurant in the Vondel Park, nearby, is also very good and was recommended by Vondel staff. I would most definitely stay at the Hotel Vondel my next visit to Amsterdam and recommend it to all! And, I would have drinks and food at the Hotel Vondel, in the lovely dining area or on the exquisite terrace.

The Hotel Vondel is in a great location. When we first arrived we were allocated a double room in the separate part of the hotel rather than a twin as requested. The Hotel staff moved us the next day and offered free breakfast as compensation which was nice. Our new room in the main part of the hotel was much improved from the first, we had a small balcony and brilliant bathroom. We wouldn't have been happy if we were left in the separate section of the hotel, its not as nice as the main part but if you can get in the main part its a really good hotel.

We picked this hotel as we had read the comments on the website which were very complimentary but we were very dissapointed with the accomodation. Firstly the room we were assigned was below the bar and beside the cleaners cupboard so it was extremely noisy and we asked to be moved. We were moved to another part of the hotel which had a separate entrance so you did not have a foyer/reception area. The stairs to the floors in this part of the hotel where extremely steep and while a lift was available I believe there is a potential safety issue if there ever was a fire in this part of the hotel especially during the night. The 2nd room allocated was smaller and was quite dangerous in that you had to step up to get into the bathroom. The bathroom only had a shower which you had to step up in and out off. Overall I would not recommend this hotel which is a shame as the location is excellent in that you were very close to shops, bars and restaurants.

Don't judge the hotel by the photos. Hotel foyer was very stylish looking however the room I was given was as if from a different hotel. I was told it was the "new extension" but it was so noisy- It was next to the front door, had thin walls and creaky plumbing. The bathroom was on such a slope that water leaked out of the bath an formed a puddle in the corner of the room every morning. Breakfast was a comedy. It took six people to clear my table of the previous diners plates. Each one would take one plate and never come back for the rest. GET A TRAY FFS! It was like their first day running a hotel. If only the hotel took the same effort with the quality of service and rooms as they did with the design of the foyer and their uniforms this would be a very cool place. Unfortunately it was just a disappointment.

The Hotel is lovely, reception area, bar. The location perfect! Room 106 is very noisey due to the air con/boiler going 24x7 outside and we woke up numerous times during our stay with the noise. The hotel did change us to a different room which was smaller with no bath and we could still hear the noise so we moved back, they tried their best but the hotel was full and it was difficult for them to change us again, I would recommend anyone staying there to ensure you are in a quiet room, we also had the bar area above us and could hear moving of furniture every morning for breakfast. Also thought the price should include breakfast!

It was a big dissapointment when we were told that breakfast is not included and we had to pay 16 euro each for every day. Definetly not worted.

The room was great, the location was excellent , the staff were courtious and helpful. The only problem that we had was that the facility was clearly undergoing major renovations whilst we were there. One night a wall below us was being knocked down until 11pm. When its complete this will be a great hotel .

If the hotel is full, as it always us at weekends, expect to get a very small room on the top floor ( the lowest price rooms). Although if you go midweek you can be lucky to get a larger room for a lower price! The room was clean, and enough ammenities and service swift. Location excellent for the museums and shopping.

This is the second time I've stayed at Hotel Vondel. I chose to return based on the quality of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. In fact, as returning guests, hotel staff made a real effort to place us in the room we'd stayed in before. This is a really lovely hotel. It is well placed for the Museum Quarter and the Leidseplein eating and drinking areas. The hotel is placed in a quiet residential area, well removed from the more lively areas of Amsterdam. Staff are really helpful in helping you to find your way around Amsterdam and answering any questions. Rooms are spotless and beautifully decorated. I'll certainly stay here again.
