Hotel Torenzicht - Amsterdam

So, it`s quite fine hotel to live for some nights, if you need the hotel only for sleeping, because in the room there is only a bad and a cupboard. The shower is in the hall on each floor. The stairs are very tough, it is very difficult to go up if you are a little drunk )))) The location is in the centre of the Red Light district. On the streets it` s very noisy.

My friend and I went on a vacation;left husbands at home. we found the hotel torenzicht staff marvelous .clientel as varied as you could get , many young people. people in their 50's and even one family celebrating an 80th birthday. Yes the stairs are steep,it is a'dam. Great fun

This is a bar-hotel in Amsterdam's famous Red Light District. Whether you like it or not depends, I think, on whether you like being in this location. For myself, I couldn't have asked for better or more. Location: Fabulous! I was attending a conference at the Trippenhuis, 2 blocks away. Nieuwmarkt area also that close, and I walked easily from the Centraal railway station, and also one evening to the more civilized night-life of Leidseplein. All kinds of restaurants, on all sides. Ambiance: You go up half a flight of stairs to the main-floor bar. The hotel clerk is the bartender. The one who greeted me, Gerrit, was wonderful - friendly, intelligent, good for conversation over a beer or two. The room: minimal. Just a single bed, a sink, a small wardrobe cabinet and a simple hard chair; toilet and shower, separate and clean, just down the hall. Best of all, my first-floor window opened on the pedestrian thoroughfare and small canal in front of the hotel. If you're a light sleeper, this would annoy you; but it was music to my ears, and I could enjoy the sound of Amsterdam night-life (or shut it out, mostly, by pulling drapes) as much as I liked. Perks: Besides the clean shower room, clean toilet, and accommodating bartender: a good breakfast (buns and toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, cold cuts, juice, coffee and tea) is included in the price, as is free wireless internet (Gerrit told me I would have to come to the bar level to access it, but I was able to connect from my room). Price: Average 60 Euro per night -- reasonable, I think, for being right in the middle of everything. I'm a 72-year-old man in good health, didn't find the narrow stairs anything but a minor nuisance, and would happily return.

Bad insulation : Windows of the rooms are very slim so the noise of the street is very present. It was possible to let bagages before the check-in (at the beginning of pm)

Great place to stay to enjoy the Red light district nightlife. Will stay there again. The Bar tenders were very knowledgable about the area and where I could get some GOOD belgian beer, along with great coffeeshops and food. Well worth the price.

Hotel is located right on the Red-light district, few meters from all important points. Friendly staff and non-stop opened NON-SMOKING bar in the ground-floor. Although Amsterdam is noisy at the night but we were surprised cause the windows of our room were situated on the quiet side of the hotel. We enjoyed it! We will come back and stay longer in Torenzicht!

Excellent service, graet location

Low-budget, canal-side hotel in a nice, typical Amsterdam-style building in the middle of the Red Light District and above a bar (same owner). Friendly reception; largish room for the price (but under the eaves so low ceiling apart from in the very middle of the room); shower and WC down the corridor. Bit rowdy on the street at night - but if you are staying here you probably want to be out contributing to the noise rather than sleeping anyway. For me it was ideal. I enjoyed my stay.

For single men.... its fine... for a single female, with family... better read the thin red lines... i have to leave the place the soonest possible time... i was just not cut out for the environment.

Consiglio a chiunque non pretenda molto il torenzicht. centralissimo in 5 minuti si è in damrak e appena fuori dall'hotel si è immersi nella lussuriosa amsterdam a luci rosse.noi siamo una coppia di giovani sposi e abbiamo avuto la possibilità di avere la nostra privacy nonostante,visto la locazione,non sia nel posto più tranquillo. bello bello bello.pulito il bagno in comune e acqua calda a volontà.
