This hotel is a shame and for many reasons : - a disgusting room with vomit and not cleaned - no toilet paper and no shower gel - the walls are so thin that you hear everything in the hotel (drunk people at 3 am, couples and steps in the stairs) - no space in the room (when you open the door it hit the bed) and lights were broken DON'T GO IN THIS HOTEL! THIS IS THE WORST I EVER STAYED IN

Bad place, completely disappointed. We spent 340 EUR for 3 nights. No own reception, at other hotel, dirty stairway, dirty room, cheap old beds (lying in a hole), breakfast poor, coffee from vending machine, toastbred, milk, ham and cheese, students that clean, serve and sit in the office. Would never go there again - sorry. Rating 4,8 of 6 not true.

Not enough chairs and tables in breakfast room. People had to eat standing up. Rooms extremely small, ca. 60 cm around bed, double bed only 1.40 m wide. Window to staircase. Could not be opened. Fresh air came through a 10 cm wide hole in the wall.

The receptionist couldn't even put the phone down to acknowledge our arrival. The public hotel enterance didn't have a door lock. Our double room was very tiny and stank of sewers. The bed was broken, the carpet and walls filthy. Do yourself a favour and spend a little bit more money on your trip and stay away from this nasty place. I wish we had.

The hotel was excellent based on the very reasonable price. One can not expect more from a budget hotel. This has been one of the better budget hotels I have stayed at. Particularly the washroom/shower was very clean. Room service was somewhat problematic as twice I had to empty my own garbage and the was no real room service for my 5 day stay.

The reception and breakfast room of the Paganini are located in the hotel Vivaldi half a block away. The Paganini is a narrow Amsterdam building with a well worn, dirty, smelly staircase leading to about three rooms per floor. Our room was clean, very quiet (facing the garden) and very small. Shower soap dispenser was empty and staff were not able to fix this in three days. Remote for TV did not work, but I managed to get the batteries swapped when a hotel employee came by. Breakfast was OK, but hardly more. One morning there was only white spongy bread. We asked for a toaster. There was none. Paganini felt ultra-budget and we paid too much. Location is excellent though!

The Paganini Hotel is a two stars hotel. Therefore You cant expect top quality facilities. But You can expect the rooms to be clean, and they were not. The room was dirty, and so small, that it was very diffycult to place even one suitcase. (The bathroom was allmost clean).

Price/quality = perfect! Much more than what I expected. The location is easy to find, mainly by train. Most important thing to me: room was clean. The bedsheets and the towels were clean but reeeeealy old! The matress was too soft/old (after a busy day it makes a lot of difference). If you know Amsterdam, you know that its almost impossible to find places without huge stairs. The problem was that the girl gave the wrong card: so I had to go up there 2x! and the entrance of Paganini is about 50m of the reception. She was not friendly at all, but ok. I will indicate to my friends and I'll go back.

Hello, I do not much have to say, without we were disappointed. The hotel is so simple for the price. The reception is limited. The shuttle for the airport is in fact a taxi in 40 euros... And at the indicated price is added taxes them, what is not clarified. We found this correct hotel to sleep passes in transit and to have breakfast but certainly not to cross/spend one good night. We did not want to stay there second night... Good day. Friendly

Room was very small, just enough space for one double bed (140cm) with only one bedsheet/duvet! (We had asked for a twin room with to seperate beds when booking!) Hotel quite old, very small staircase and no lift! (so don't travel with big luggage, you could end up carrying it all up to the fifth floor...) Breakfast served in other hotel on the same road, distance about 200m. Quality of breaktfast okay.

Hotel paganini belongs to hotel vivaldi, witch is situated in the close neighbourhood. here you find the reception and the breakfast room for both hotels. we got our double room in the vivaldi hotel. it was on the ground floor with a view on the very noisy street. (there was no difference if the window was open or closed, always pretty loud). ear-plugs recommended! beds ok, small wardrobe, small table, curtain dirty, bathroom nice and new, but small and smelly - ventilation did not work. sometimes the shower-tube came down... employees were nice and cooperative. breakfast was ok. at arrival we had to pay 5% taxes additional on the price. on the reservation page this was not denounced. the situation of the hotel is quite good. near by the city and museums. tram station next to the hotel.

AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!! This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. My room was extremely small and had no ventilation. There were cigarette papers left on the nightstand. There was maybe one foot of room between my bed and the wall. The TV did not work. It was extremely noisy. And, to top it off, my bed was MISSING two of its legs, so that I tilted downwards when I lay down. When I told the night receptionist, he said he couldn't change me to another room because I had already used the bathroom (!). Turns out there was another room available that night. They gave me another room the next night, but did not want to do anything to compensate me for my night in the broken room. It took me 5 hours out of my day to haggle the 85 euros price down to 45. The staff seemed genuinely uninterested in my problem.

I had an excellent stay at this hotel. No doubt that the room was very, very small. However, the location of this hotel could not be better. It is close to anything of interest in Amsterdam: the van Gogh Museum, Rijks Museum, the flower market, Vondel Park, etc. Also it is very easy to get there by tram (tram # 16) from the train central station. If you don't mind the size of the room, but you do mind the cleanliness of your room, an excellent location, good price and a good breakfast this is the place to be in Amsterdam.

While it is well known that even moderate accommodation in Amsterdam is expensive, this was extremely poor quality for 99 euros each for two single rooms. There were no wardrobes, the drawers were dirty, my friend's room was so small she had to be moved, neither room was cleaned at all during a four-day stay (and the rooms were grubby to begin with), the TVs were not tuned in and one remote did not work, there was no drinking glass provided, the overhead light did not work in one room, there was no natural light in two of the three rooms we had, the staff were sometimes reluctant to help with luggage and there was nowhere to store baggage for a late check-out.

I was disappointed there really was NO free airport shuttle as advertised on your web page. I'm not walking down the streets of Amsterdam at 5am in the morning dragging a heavy suitcase walking to another hotel that does have free shuttle service. Also we were charged for a full breakfast, even tho we left the hotel at 5:30 am to catch our flight back to Canada that was leaving at 7:30am. The night fellow was very nice to make us coffee and give us some snacks at 5am.

Morning and evening staff were very pleasant and helpful, a definite plus. However, our double room was fairly cramped (smaller than that pictured on the Venere website.) Our room was situated next to the stairwell and the first two nights of our stay was extremely noisy, especially closing doors separating the stairwell from corridors. My wife guessed a tour group occupied the hotel. The latter three nights were quiet. Consequently, one's stay is the "luck of the draw" in this regard. We chose the hotel because it was conveniently located near the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. We discovered, too, that it is just off a main tram line to the Dam and Central Station (only a short tram ride.) A bonus of this area is that we were told it is the "student" area. Consequently, there are several very reasonably priced, and quite good, restaurants nearby.

Our room was on the ground floor by the front door. The bathroom was supposed to be ensuite, but was actually out of our room and extremely difficult to access due to the lack of space in that area. (We couldn't open our door at the same time as the bathroom door.) The breakfast was good, the staff friendly and the location excellent. Our room left a little to be desired. There was nowhere to hang your clothes (We were there for 4 nights) and very little surfaces to put things on, so there was only the floor. The carpet was very stained and the bedding was very basic. All in all though we would probably stay there again, because for the price its fine.

This was my first solo trip after a marriage breakdown. I needed a safe hotel where I could feel relaxed. My choice was excellent. The hotel was ideally situated for me near the museums and the social areas of Leidesplein and Rembrandtsplein without being in the "thick of it" as we say. I will certainly return to Amsterdam and the 'Paganini' may well be my choice next time. However when I booked it was not made clear that I had booked room only. I assumed it was bed and breakfast. That was not a problem- the breakfast was fine.

Our experience with this hotel was very poor. we required 2 double rooms for 2 nites; one was small but okay; the other was an "inside" room with no window or fan. the temperature reached well above 90 in the enclosed room;so our two adult sons had to come into our room and sleep on the floor. the second nite, they accomodated us with a new room; but acted so surprised with our situation. we decided to book a nite for our return to the States, on the full assurance that we were booking two specific rooms. on our arrival, they had moved our booking to two inside rooms. and claimed no documentation and utter surprise that we did not want the two inside rooms. we could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
