Small hotel very nice and well located, close to 4 different tram, near a large place but in a very quiet street. Prices were low (50 € per night /person for a weekend in high demand), the staff was friendly, they can inform us at any time. We rented a room for two person for 3 days. It was comfortable with everything we needed: a big bed, a correct bathroom (small but adequate), furniture, a large window and breakfast in the morning until at noon. The hotel offers bike rentals for only 10 € (it is a good deal). It was fun to see receptionists completely relaxed on the terrace of the hotel smoking weed. In short, this is a place I’d certainly come back, with low prices, sufficient comfort and well located.

We stayed one night in this hotel and were so relieved that we didn't need to stay any night longer. The furnitures were old and shabby, the rug was dirty, the curtain partly torn...overall the stay wasn't really comfortable. We booked a room for 4 person with private bathroom, but the shower and restroom were outside in the hallway. The cleanliness was acceptable for one night. The breakfast was poor and not really fresh. The staff wasn't friendly at all. The hotel is located 5-10 min. to the city center by tram. The environment is quiet and lots of sights can be reached by foot. But I would recommend another hotel.

Very reasonable, homey hotel. Decent location, readily within walking distance to all Amsterdam. Nice breakfast. Still lacks in some regards, no elevator, room phones seem out of order, shared bathrooms.

The single bedroom was small, ugly and depressing and the mattress was uncomfortable. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful, though. I didn't mind the size of the room (really small!!!) because I only used it to sleep (on that horrible matress). I was out the rest of the time. The hotel is really close to the "in" place of Amsterdam (Leidseplein) where the bars and clubs are. It's a budget hotel, though, so I didn't expect (nor needed) more than what I got. You get what you pay for. The private shower isn't in the room, so you have to go through the hallway to get there, with a towel around you or something.

Our twin room was very small and cell-like, just enough space for the two beds, a sink and a shower. The stairs to the room were VERY narrow and steep; since there are no lifts, it would be impossible to reach for the mobility impaired. Bringing luggage that weighs over 10kg would be very difficult. Breakfast was surprisingly decent, with a range of cold meats, bread, muffins, juice, coffee etc. We paid 60 euros for 2 people for the night which isn't really a bargain...however we had struggled to find anything cheaper in Amsterdam.

An excellent small hotel in a pleasant, quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of the centre and the museums. The hotel's staff were particularly helpful and made this a memorable stay.

Surprisingly nice stay. Did not go with huge expectations as I booked one of the smaller rooms for a night but found it good for a couple of lads sightseeing and having a few drinks. Being the wrong side of 30 I felt that it offered a quiet nights sleep and a filling breakfast in the morn. Great location for some of the museams and bike hire available too, possibly I would be less likely to take a partner.

I stayed in room #6, 2nd floor. Be aware: 1: no elevator and very steep staircase; potentially a problem if you carry large or heavy bags. 2: toilets outside the room. 3: 5% surcharge if you pay with credit card. Otherwise, a reasonable price for Amsterdam and convenient location. Quiet area.

L'accoglienza all'Hotel è stata molto buona.

This place was a real disappointment. The room was dingy, there was a shared toilet, and it didn't feel very secure. The mattress was not good, I kept sliding down to one side. I had just spent a few nights in a really nice, clean 3-star hotel and had to change here because of the price, but I was really dropping down several levels in quality. They also wanted to add 5% to my bill because I wanted to pay by credit card! So I had to go out and find an ATM. The place was old and dark and the room was unwelcoming - and that steep staircase was treacherous with luggage!

You get what you pay for, practically. This is no fancy hotel and I wouldn't advice it if you're a picky, comfort-loving traveler. The rooms were narrow and ours didn't have a toilet, which was fine for a one-night permanence, but would have been quite unpleasant otherwise. The guy at the reception seemed high or something (he adviced us a restaurant and when we asked what kind of food it was, he said he didn't know...). Also, watch out for the stairs, they are quite dangerous and there's no elevator, just remember this in case you have some big luggage.

Breakfast was minimal. There are almost no public spaces indoors except for the breakfast area, though a very attractive garden seems to be available in warmer weather. No concierge service at all. In short, you get what you pay for.

Enjoyed the stay, but had to carry 2 suitcases up 3 very narrow steep flights of stairs. phew!! No initial help offered. The toilet/shower area smelt a bit and it was noisy one night until the early hours of the morning, which was annoying as I had to be up early for a flight back to UK. The staff however were very helpful and considerate.

You will need a GPS or hire a taxi(even our taxi needed a GPS) to find this hotel if you dont know the area well. It is a little hard to find on your own. The room was clean and the service we got was great! Rooms are small for the single I stayed in and stairs are very steep. I would recommend if you drive to buy a 24hr parking ticket from Kap hotel and take the tram into the city center. By tram the center is only 3-4 stops from the hotel. Plenty of eating and drinking places within walking distance from the hotel. Hotel staff was very helpful in telling us were we could go and even provided us with maps and information. Overall our experience at this hotel was a good one!

A splendid little hotel. It's well-located in a completely quiet street and, once you've negotiated the traditionally steep Dutch stairs, you'll find large and well-appointed double rooms (the single room I saw looked less inviting). The coolest about the place is the breakfast room, which is much classier than you'd expect in a hotel of this kind, and boasts a great selection of food. The owner was a nice chap, too. If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel and nothing terribly fancy, I'd go for Hotel Kap.

Hotel Kap is on a quiet street in a very nice part of Amsterdam about 8-10 minutes on foot from Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum and about about 12-15 min. south from the train station by streetcar. It is more convenient, though, to take the Connexxion airport shuttle to the hotel rather than the train and the streetcar especially with heavier luggage. On the other side from the hotel (opposite from the two museums) is a beautiful park (Vondelpark). In the hotel, the breakfast room and the adjacent little garden were really nice. Breakfast was very good and plentiful and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The stairs were steep but that seems to be the norm in Amsterdam, I think, the room was a little smaller than I expected but it had its own shower corner and I only shared the toilet with probably only one other room and the toilet one was always in clean condition. The room itself was clean even though it did not look quite the same as on the picture but was fairly close to it. The window in the room could have been in a better working condition, it was hard to lift it up but it was not a major issue for me. Overall - a good choice of accommodation.

Very nice, inexpensive, and simple accomodation. The reception was friendly. Breakfast is ample and can be eaten in a nice outdoor garden. Our room was on the third floor, there was no elevator, and the stairs are quite narrow. An annoyance is that there is an extra 5% charge for credit cards that does not seem to appear in the web listings.

This was a great place to stay! The location was excellent. We were close to everything and the street that Hotel Kap is on is very nice, clean and quiet. Our bathroom was newly remodeled so it was nice and clean. The beds were sooo comfortable too which is unusual in a hotel. Breakfast was great. The hotel was always ready and willing to give us directions we needed and gave us some great ideas of things to do. We went with another couple and had cheese and wine in our room added and had them add the Chocolate Suprise to our friends room as a treat and boy was it a treat!!! They gave us so many delicious chocolates, 3 different kinds of cheese, crackers, wine it was soooo good especially after 12 hours of traveling its a really nice treat to have. They really did it wonderfully. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanted to travel to Amsterdam and do not want to pay 200-300 Euro a night. Great value for the money.
