nice little hotel. good location. i stayed one night on a thursday and it was quite noisy but i expected this as it is in the heart of the red light and coffee shop district. good hotel if you need to stay in the centre of amsterdam and are not to worried about getting much sleep. the hotel does provide earplugs in the room which helps. i would stay there again but if you want a good nights sleep maybe stay a bit further away from the centre. also the stairs are very very steep.

This hotel is perfect for the traveller looking for a hotel in the middle of everything, with very clean rooms. They offer en suite bathrooms/toilets, as well as rooms without. I had a double, en suite room, but the showers and toilets for the other rooms looked very clean too! My room had a tv, with cable, a fan, and a closet big enough to store the wardrobe for my 5 day stay. The stairs leading to the rooms are very steep, which would make it difficult for an older person, but otherwise I would recommend the hotel to anyone with a healthy pair of legs. The rooms would be a little too small for a family with children. The check-in desk is at the bar, and the staff is very friendly. Just book the room, breakfast is not really necessary becuse you have so many places right next to the hotel. The staff even recommends having breakfast elesewhere. Central Station is a 5 minute walk, and the Metro is 2 minutes from your doorstep. You're located right at the begining of Chinatown and the Redlight district. They will also keep your bags for you on check-out day, in a locked up room, if you ask. In summary, if you don't need any fancy extras, but are looking for a clean, centrally located, price friendly room...then this is the place for you!

This is the third time i come back to this hotel. The rooms are not so spacious, the bathroom is very little and the rooms are not so clean. But the hotel is in the heart of the center of Amsterdam. Just outside the entrance, you will find all the things you might look for in Amsterdam.

I and Myhushand had spent a exellent trip in Holland in generally, and very very wonderfull in Amstesdam in particully. Because we have stayed at very good location in this Hotel. It's so easy to find it on the first day when we arrived at Railway- Station. And when we reached the Hotel, We couldn't see the lobby of Hotel, anyway.Because the reception of the Hotel play the same funtion with Cafe. But finally, We ask the man standing in front of the Hotel, and We got the room immediatly. The room so good for us and we share the bath- room but very very convinience on the same floor. Eveything 's so exellence ! We recommend everyone should stay here, but I have to say that this Hotel has very narrow stair, no life(not recommend for the old people and who travelling with heavy bags. because of small land like in Amstesdam capital, but We have the Hotel like this. We think that a wonderfull! Thank you so much again and again(The Hotel and Venere com). We will stay at this Hotel in next year.

This was my fifth trip to Amsterdam and my third to stay in a hotel there. You are in the red light distract it's loud , it's noise, it's busy. And every hotel you stay at in this area will be this way. So you have to take that out of the eqaution when you stay in this area, if you want something slower pace stay out at vondel park. Now the staff was the bomb very very nice and helpful. The room was not great by american standards, but you ain't in america. The houses are old, the rooms are small, and the stairs are an experience. Again all the hotel in this area are like this; it's Amsterdam. This Hotel is in the best local to the center train station, I mean perfect. You are five minutes away max. You would never know it was that close from the hotel. I will stay here next time I come and the time after unless suddenly the place goes to crap. But i had a wonderful time and everyone was great. Please if your American remember Europe is old, Amsterdam is old and it is what it is; that's why it is so great. If you think the room is small go to the ann frank house i promise you won't complain.

This is an excellent place to stay if you are happy with a 1* hotel. We stayed in the deluxe en suite room (it had a jacuzzi) on the top floor. Yes it is right in the centre, on the cusp of the Red Light District, and it can be noisy, but we were out sightseeing all day, had beers at night and didn't really notice (as they do leave complimentary ear plugs). Staff are friendly and helpful if you need it and leave you alone otherwise. It's a brilliant location to get anywhere on foot if you don't mind walking and it's great at night when you can wander the pubs and coffee shops etc and not have far to stagger back. Room was spacious and clean and had a TV (we even got match of the day!) Can't comment on other rooms as we paid extra for this but well worth it. We're back in Amsterdam in Nov 09 and we will be booking this room in this hotel again. Love it! :)

Have a nice trip!

The hotel is in a bad area of amsterdam, althought it´s in front of centraal station, it´s in the red light district, with a lot of stranger people. There are no bathroons inside the room, only at the hall... there are only 4 roons... at least it´s clean... it´s good option if you want to sleep in a 17th century's place.

+ Staff molto gentile. Ottimo punto di partenza per la visita della città. - Camera poco spaziosa. Manca l'ascensore e le scale sono molto ripide (in tipico stile olandese), quindi se avete una valigia larga e un po' pesante farete un po' di fatica. La reception è all'interno del pub annesso all'hotel.

We found the hotel very easily, just a few mins from the station. The street it is located on is a bit seedy, but very central and ideal for reaching the sights. The girl in the bar spoke excellent English. The hotel has the steepest stairs in the world so completely unsuitable for older people and not safe for children. The room was small but clean with a sink in the room, and the shared bathroom was clean. The shower wasn't great. Earplugs were left in the room for us on arrival, and we REALLY needed them, it is VERY noisy at night with people outside shouting and screaming and mopeds zipping up and down. The earplugs helped a little.

I cannot fault the location, we were right in the heart of old Amsterdam. The down side of this was the noise at night from people making their way home and first thing in the morning the beer deliveries were soooooo loud! Our room was right at the top of the hotel in the eaves. Very romantic if you are 5'2 like me but not if you are 6 foot like my partner who kept hitting his head on the beams! Ha ha! Well, I thought it was funny. Warning:- there is no lift and 3 flights of extremely steep stairs were an experience in themselves. Especially with my massive suitcase. On the whole, this hotel was basic which was fine. We wanted to be in the heart of the old part of Amsterdam so we did not have far to stagger home at night and that is what we got. The rooms could do with a refurb especially the twin bed with the metal bar in the middle which ended up in my partner's back every night! So to summarise; location was fab, stairs were mental, staff friendly and helpful (on the whole, one girl was a bit frosty). Spoilt for choice of restaurants and bars nearby. We got what we paid for which was a one star hotel in the heart of old Amsterdam. Not suitable for children or elderly/infirm guests.

very central and easy to reach from the central station (3 minutes walk). staff is friendly and there is a nice pub to take a pint (have a look at the harpoon). rooms are ok, with shared bathrooms, (you get what you pay, nothing more and nothing less) but quite noisy since you're in the city centre. good enough, i would recommend it if you're in a youth-hostel mood.

Not ideal for a romantic break but If all you want is a very clean, comfortable place to crash at the end of a long day's holidaying this place can't be faulted. I have no trouble sleeping so the sound early morning road sweepers or beer barrels clattering to the pavement at 7am didn't bother me at all, but insomniacs take note. Brochures would describe the hotel's location as "lively and bustling". Rooms accessed by a key card that also served to open the hotel's outside door after 1am. The place seemed very secure. The cost of the twin room I booked was cheaper than a dormitory bed at the hostel further down the same street, which says it all really.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a small, basic but clean room. Noisy at night, but take ear plugs and you're fine - it's in the heart of red light district so expect noise. You're welcomed by friendly staff, but left alone unless you need anything, which for us was perfect. Allowed us to keep bags in hotel after departure which made things easier. Perfect location as you are close for everything and only 2 mins walk from Central Station. We would definitely stay again!!! It isn't the hilton, but then you don't expect that for the price. No complaints whatsoever.
