We have been to Amsterdam many times. The Eden American Hotel is a great place to stay and we like the location.

We were a little disappointed with our stay at this hotel. It seemed that every time we requested something, the answer was that "we are fully booked", however when we enquired about extending out stay there was a choice of rooms available. The first night we discovered that the sheets in our room were used (and stained) which was quite unpleasant, and the room service only gave us one towel the next day. We didnt feel like we got personal service apart from the concierge and night room service man who were both very helpful and friendly.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and was expecting a bigger room since we were a family, but yet the room was so small that one of us had to sleep on the floor which wasn't quite pleasant. The location of the hotel was great though, easily accessible to the main shopping street and near the flower market and the staff at the reception were all really helpful and friendly

The Hotel is excellent, the room was unfortunately dark!!!overlooking the inner courtyard. A standard room with extra large bed,as I have requested in my Reservation

Excellent hotel in a great location. Right on the canal, close to many great restaurants and the museums. We only stayed one night, but if we go back, we will definitely be staying in this hotel!

Great location, easy to get to from the airport (direct bus service). Good value rate although breakfast not included, not the cheapest breakfast but a very good selection and worth it for the breakfast room, I went for one of the two nights I was there. No view from my room but it was quiet and very comfortable bed. I would recommend this hotel and would return if in Amsterdam.

Room was large enough for our needs, though small by American standards. Great location in a lively neighborhood. Recommend the bar but not the breakfast in the restaurant - 20 Euro for a glorified continental breakfast is a bit much. Staff was very friendly and helpful, all spoke excellent English.

This hotel is in an excellent location adjacent to a large area of restaurants and on the main tram routes giving easy access to other parts of the city. The art nouveau restaurant is a must. The staff on the main desk were extremely helpful as regards things to see and do in Amsterdam. We would go back without hesitation

We are a married couple who decided to stay in Amsterdam for a brief 4 day holiday. The photos we saw on Venere made us pick the American hotel. If you're looking for a quiet time, do NOT pick it. It's very close to Leidensplein, the noisiest part of Amsterdam with lots of bars and young life making, well... young life noise! Also, the rooms are NOT sound proof, so whenever people on the floors above would walk, it would be loud enough to keep us awake (even when the trams didn't). A last note: Venere.com says "all taxes included"- that's not true - the hotel insisted on charging us an extra city tax which was an unpleasantry on top of our already high price.

The hotel staff are very good and helpful! Beautiful people too. They treat you as a family. Will definately come back again! Boom Chicago is around the corner of Leisplein, great comedy show in English, and you'll find new lover if you go alone-:)Advice for other travellers: Don't try very strong mushrooms! Possibly make you miss your flight!

We had a standard double room - very clean and quiet - and roomy. In Amsterdam the hotelrooms are generally very small, but Americana hotel is exceptional. The service etc. is excellent. Perfect located. The combo Amsterdam-Weekend in Americana hotel is just perfect. Compliment and thanks!

An excellent hotel: full of Art Nouveau style and character and in the heart of the city. It is easy to get to all main attractions using the very clean and efficient tram service. Breakfast in the beautiful dining room with all its original Nouveau features still intact is an experience in itself - but breakfast is a little overpriced at €19 per person ... All staff we spoke to could not have been more helpful or friendly. The hotel’s cool cocktail bar with walls lined with photographs of famous patrons from film and music is great fun as well and well worth a visit after a long journey! Some very good restaurants are within easy walking distance. This was our fourth visit to Amsterdam but the first to the Amsterdam American and all in all we found little to criticize at the hotel – it’s not the cheapest accommodation in town but you get value for money nevertheless - we would definitely stay again.

The room was a nice size and nicely decorated. I had requested a quiet room with a water view, and they gave me a lovely corner room on the 3rd floor facing the canal. The main negative was the concierge was on holiday and the front desk was extremely busy (at times only staffed by one person). At least an Information Booth was across the street.

I already had a good bargain price(especially for Amsterdam standards) but upon arrival was upgraded to a junior suite - which was very nice & spacious - the standard is high (big beds & loads of pillows) & the stay was very enjoyable & the breakfast (excluded at € 19) is worth it if alone for the surroundings. Highly recommended!

Booked this hotel for a one night stay in Amsterdam. Wanted to stay in the Leidseplein area of Amsterdam...this hotel was right there at the square (not directly in the square, but you can see it from the square). The room was a little small...but this is Europe, and it was a single room. It was very comfortable. I had a room that did not have the scaffolding from the renevations in front of it, and was even able to go out onto the balcony and sit and watch the action in the Leidseplein (even though the sign on the door said the balcony doors were locked from the outside because of the renevations). Even if I wanted to stay indoors, the channel on the TV showing a live camera feed of the goings on in the square from the hotel was nice. As it is slightly set back from the square, noise was no problem. A little pricy for the size, but the quality and location were on par for the price.
