Nice hotel, although not much luxurious. Very cramped reception area but cozy bar and breakfast area. Got upgraded to large rooms overlooking Prinsengracht (the canal) without asking! Very central location with 3 tram routes close by. 5-10 min walk to the museum area.

It was a big pleasure for us to stay in this Hotel during NY eve! The room was big and bright, employees were nice and helpful, we would like to visit this place again in summer or autumn.

this place was under construction, elevater was not working, so we had to drug our few big luggage ( after the trade show buisiness trip) all the way up to our rooms which located after winding and few mini stairs, the receptionist attitude are matter-of-fact way. On the other hand, i had a very big room face to Sunny side with big windows, though my co-worker got 1/2smaller and dirk room...at same price. i felt sorry but he complained this and got better room but still it was dirk and small.i was enjoying the size of that room though.but their rooms size and blightness seems like really inconsistent. good luck.

This was my 2nd time in Amsterdam, and we stayed for 3 nights, which we really enjoyed. The location of the hotel is just perfect, very close to Leidseplein and many attractions. The breakfast was not included in the price and lasts at 9.30 am. We were never able to have breakfast at the hotel because of this. But there are many places to eat nearby. The rooms were very clean, and stuff was very friendly.

Very good hotel, very good location, downtown, near the canal, near the very nice Leidseplein, near tram stop (Prinsengracht instead of Leidseplein as it is in the web site). To be noted that the web price doesn't include city taxes and breakfast. Breakfast is very expensive compared to what we are offered and it is not served by a very pleasant person.

I have stayed in numerous hotels in Amsterdam, and this one was just not up to scratch. The breakfast was very poor considering the star rating. Inefficiency and lack of help with one staff member. Essentially, you could find a better hotel, even if it has a lower star rating.

I liked the location and the Hotel. It was at the upper linit of what I would pay for a Hotel in a city. Nevertheless, it's close to a lot of attractions and is adjacent to a tram stop (tram about 10 mins to Central Station). It overlooks a pretty canal. On top of the Venere price, this Hotel charged me 8 euro per night city tax.

Hotel location is perfect, on the Prinsegracht next to the tram station. We had a very nice canal view but unfortunately we couldn't open the windows. The room is quiet but if you're sensitive to Air conditioning it is not a good choice.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August, in 2 different rooms. The first room itself was very nice but was at the back of the building (room 301), thus overlooking an internal service courtyard and facing an air conditioning unit. On asking for a room with a view (any view would be nice!) we were told there were none available and to ask again in the morning. We also discovered the bathroom had a leaky tap which dripped all night (ok, once the door was shut, but it was hot water so it steamed up the bathroom!) Because it was leaking from the wall, when using the shower there wasn't much more than a dribble of water coming out of it. We told reception about it the next morning when asking again for another room. The male receptionist was perfectly polite, but probably not the warmest person I've come across. I suspect we got a good room because the owner was hovering over the receptionist – we were delighted with our new room, much bigger and with a balcony set into the roof overlooking the rooftops and canal. The bathroom had been refurbished, had a power shower and a large window. This was room 504, and judging by the fire escape floorplan on the door, one of the biggest rooms, apart from the penthouse. Would definitely stay here again if we had that room! Location was good near Leidesplein. We walked everywhere, but there is a tram stop right outside and lots of bars and restaurants within minutes of walking. The museums are about 15-20 mins walk, Red Light district approx 30mins, flower market on Singel 10-15 mins. Breakfast wasn't included, but was quite expensive at €12.50 each so we went to nearby cafes. There's a nice bar in the hotel but it was always empty so we never used it. Never even saw staff in there but it appeared to be open when we wandered in, with music playing!

First thing, get off the tram (nos 1,2 and 5) at the Prinzengracht stop (just before Leidesplien stop) and you are right beside the hotel! The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly and it is only a 10 minute tram ride / 20 minute walk from the Centraal Station. The hotel is just 5 minutes from a main shopping area, near to attractions (Bols experience, Heineken Museum, Rijks Museum etc) and is close to transport stops (tram and canal boats). I didn't try the breakfast as I thought 12 Euros was a bit pricey, but there is a bakery right across the street and another further up to buy croissants etc. The Leidesplien area is full of excellent restaurants and bars and is popular will all ages, although this can lead to some noise outside the hotel in the early hours. Check out the jazz bar for live performances. Amsterdam is a small city and so I found everthing is within walking distance, with numerous cafes/bars to stop for a rest. I found the people were friendly and it was safe no matter where I walked.

There is no way this is a four star property! The air conditioning is only on the first floor, so the higher floors are hot. The lift only works when the outer doors are closed properly on all floors. There are no in-room safes. The shower sprays in all directions and floods the bathroom. The noise around the hotel is loud and because it's so hot, the windows have to be open to it. The worst part is the hotel employees and manager assume that any complaint is due to the ethnocentric ugly American instead of from a person who has traveled widely in Europe and who knows when a hotel is substandard compared to the advertisement for it.

Room spacious and clean, but the hotel surrondings were disastrously noisy all over the night. Climatization would have allowed us to close the windows, but was not provided, in spite of the rather high price of the room. Amsterdam is a lovely city, but next time we will try another hotel.

Room We got the corner room as requested. A fantastic view and lots of space. Would have been great if one of the windows could have been possible to open. Two more chairs in the room would be nice. Breakfast The breakfast was not very impressive, also, the chairs in the breakfast room were due for replasement long time ago.

Overall a good hotel, but the 4-star rating, although "official", is misleading. Compared to French standard, this would rather be a 2- to 3-star hotel. The room was OK but nowhere near 4-star standards. Overall, Amsterdam prices are pretty high. If you choose this hotel, beware that the price pays you a central location, but not an incredible room.

WE WERE ON HOLIDAY AND FOUND THE HOTEL TO BE EXTREMELY CENTRALLY LOCATED AND EASILY ACCESABLE BY TRANSPORT. THE BUILDING IS CUTE FRONTING ON THE CANAL. OUR ROOM WAS AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL . HAD NO VIEW BUT AS A RESULT HAD NO NOISE. THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFULL

Location simply could not be better! On arrival from airport (by train - cheap and easy)you take the tram (1,3,5) right outside the trainstation. Get off at Prinsen gracht, and you are there!. The room was superb. The Hotel is located in the middle of restaurants and shopping, close to flowermarked...etc. Easy acsess to anywhere by tram, or a nice walk. We had a Great stay!

The location was excellent. Several tram lines right outside entrance and walking distance to most parts of central Amsterdam. Didn´t try the breakfast. For the price we paid it should have been included. Despite a mild odor from the bathroom, which we solved by pouring some water down the drain, the room was as could be expected. Friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely consider staying here again!

Location was the main attraction of this great hotel. The tram stop was REALLY a few meters from the hotel entrance. We were given a beautiful attic room, with a very romantic view of the canal. We couldn't have a nicer accomodation!! And we are already planning another get-away week-end to Amsterdam, at the Dikker&Thigs Fenice of course!!!

Another memorable venere.com recommendation! The location is excellent, very close to the National and van Gogh Museums, the antique store street, and on the best of the Amsterdam canals. The rooms were spacious and clean, but very charming due to the old canal mansion space that this hotel inhabits. Very accessible by the city trams. The location close to Leidesplan dictates the not always quiet environ, but the double windows and lush drapes kept it quiet when we wanted it - and let us look out on the activity too! We would definitely look no further for our next Amsterdam visit. our next visit to Amsterdam.

Excellent hotel as already mentioned many times before by others. We asked for top floor room with double bed and view on the canal, which was exactly what we got (nice view over Amsterdam); Fantastic, spacious, clean room! Breakfast was quite nice too. Also location is great, only a minute away from the Leidse Square and shopping streets. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity. Certainly recommend anyone to stay here.

fabulous location - had a terrific room 3rd floor overlooking the canal, no problems with noise (requested a quiet room) only serious criticism is the 4 star rating - this hotel is way overdue for a renovation: carpeting, bathroom, furniture desperately need to be updated. Bathroom not up to American standards in terms of modern sanitation, so don't expect it. Stayed in 3 stars in both Eindoven and Amsterdam with far better facilities, including higher quality breakfast. Breakfast not worth waking up for, coffee terrible - better off picking up something fresh at a nearby bakery. Expected more from a 4 star rating. Rating appears to be based purely on location (which is in the center of everything and you couldn't ask for a better base to explore the city on foot). Also if you're hoping to party in your room, pick another hotel: there's 150 euro fine!

Spotlessly clean, friendly welcome, comfy bed nice breakfast; made for a happy stay. We took a 'superior' room, and it was superior. Excellent double-glazing - a good thing because the Leidseplein tourist trap is a stone's-throw away and the weekend throngs go on most of the night. Well placed for the museums, parks, and the agreeable Jourdan and 9 Streets areas. Strongly recommended.
United Kingdom, Sep 2007
I loved the hotel, especially as I was on the top floor as I had a balcony overlooking the canal - beautiful! Lovely big room and bathroom! We had been told that the hotel was very near central station so it was a bit of a surprise to discover it was a short tram-ride away, but this was easy. Also, the TV in my room didn't work, and the room was very warm with v. noisy air conditioning... but the window's always a good option! Overall I liked it - a hotel with character!

A three day jolly with my sister. Super hotel, on the canal but close to public transport. Nothing too much trouble for staff. Plenty of eating places nearby. We arrived late evening so took a taxi to hotel from station, otherwise would have appreciated tram numbers which pass within 20m. of hotel and are very cheap.

We had a very nice 3 nights stay at The Dikker & Thijs Fenice, but the noise from the streets never stopped!! It is not possible to sleep with the windows opened! The room on the 4th floor was relatively spacious and clean, overlooking Amsterdams rooftops, but a bit run down. Due to a broken lock in the bathroom door it was not possible to close the door, and the bathroom sink was also blocked during our stay. We told the hotel manager about this, but he only said that the rooms would be renovated later this year and then they would fix it !! The breakfast was excellent, and the location of the hotel is superb. The staff were friendly and we will definitely recommend this hotel, but tell guests to bring earplugs!

This hotel was in a perfect location except for the noise, which we fixed with earplugs at night. The breakfast was very good for a European breakfast. The staff was excellent. Over all we would stay here again. It also had a Lift so we did not have to carry any bags up narrow stairs.

A difficult one- No Restaurant or Bar available, we had to go hunting for food, but that was easy enough. Lack of Bar also meant there was no sitting area. We had a beautiful large room overlooking the canal -a great view. Thanks for contributing to a wonderful holiday.

What a find! The price was more than reasonable for the quality of the hotel as well as its location. A couple of quibbles--the restaurant is temporarily closed (tho supposed to be excellent) and while the website says, "Shuttle service from and/or to the airport," they did not have shuttle service and seemed surprised to hear it was on their website.

The hotel is situated in a spectacular area, 10 seconds walking from the nicest (at night, at least!) square of Amsterdam - Leidse Plein. People at the desk are very nice 24 hours a day, and the breakfast was included even if it was not mentioned on the offer (very good). Lots of young people, not looking for dopes. The only bad thing was the room itself: nice and clean, of course, but the view on the window was on the inside, just in front of the garbage (!). That was very disappointing, because the hotel looks at the canal and we guessed that other rooms have a beautiful view... Watch out: the tram stops right there and taxis are very expansive...

The hotel itself is generally quite pleasent, however feel that we were mislead slightly with regards to the facilites. Wheb we stayed the bar and restaurant were shut, due to re-openagain, however this we felt was quite an important factor of our visit. The hotels location couldnt be faulted, it was perfect distance to everything and in a really nice area. The staff were very pleasent and helpful. The rooms were generally quite clean and nice, but standard compared to the photographs displayed on the website.

An excellent hotel for a city visit. Trams 2&5 to and from the Central Station stop directly outside. Our room 503 had good views was quiet and comfortable, with an excellent bathroom. The continental breakfast was adequate. The venere price was OK. Any more would have been too much.

I'm not sure if it's a credit card issue or not, but the charge didn't actually come through my card until a week after I left the hotel. Inconvenient...but otherwise, this hotel has very high value for the cost and the room was huge. Stay here!

Ottima posizione.
