Late cleaning routines caused conflicts between cleaning and our own change of activities. Refill of teabags, coffee, shampoo etc. seemed not automatised. Location of the hotel is the best in town! Our purpose was to get to know as much of Amsterdam as possible in 4 days, and we succeeded because Die Port van Cleve is situated in the very centre of the city.

Good location next to Dam Square with tram stop at the front of the hotel. Room is very small compared to what we are used to in South East Asia and very much more expensive.

Ian, the Scotsman who checked me in is a fantastic guy! The staff was wonderful, even letting me change to a nicer room because I requested more light and a bit more space. My bags were lost by Lufthansa, however, and the assistance at the Amsterdam airport was virtually non-existant.The woman who eventually helped me claimed the hotel did not exist because it wasn't on her "approved" list. I had to stay an extra night in order to get my bags sent to me. The hotel is a short tram ride from the Centraal Station but I got hopelessly lost trying to find it on foot late at night. My fault entirely. I highly recommend this hotel.

Overall stay was quite good. although we had reserved a triple, we initially got only two beds, although they did bring an extra one when we asked. we had booked an executive room. the first two nights we got a kinda small but clean and welcoming room. on our second single-night stay we got a great room with lots of space and windows on both sides which did have three beds ;) overall, clean, friendly and well-located (you can't hope to pay less for a place right on the dam, although i certainly wouldnt call it 4-star). Another drawback is we were asked to pay more than quoted on the website because of the tourist tax which isn't mentioned anywhere.

The first room we became was very little and bad. The second room, one day later, was bigger but very hot. The hotel has a excellent position in city, but it is not 4-star.

We have to argue about a room rate when we just come. The front desk ask my credit card and want to charged twice(2X) our confirmed rate from you(venere) eventhough we said we will pay cash and inform our confirmation booked rate(we have show copy of confirmation to them).Overall the 1st impression was not got good, we will not stay at this hotel and recommend to other customer.

We had to complain for the first room we were assigned, but the second was wonderful: spacious, exterior and clean.Nice staff specially the evening porter. Very expensive breakfast.

The hotel is in the center, really convenient location, and it is a very reasonable buy. Still, it is definitely not a four star hotel. Maybe three stars but barely (no minibar, no internal security lock, many damaged objects, no curtains at all on a very sunny window, some of the people working there not competent and knowledgeable).

Happy with the service - would definitely go there again. Only 'complaint' is that the third bed I requested was a rather uncomfortable folding bed - but since I didn't have to use it, I'm not really complaining :)) Watch out for minibar prices.

Great location, important for this stay with elderly mother, trams at the door. Dam square one minute across the street. Staff unfailingly friendly and helpful, especially Restaurant manager, Demetrious who 'adopted' Mum and made our two meals in the restaurant very special; an Amsterdam resident with us was very impressed. For me: WiFi available throughout the hotel was great

Anche all'estero ci provano sempre. In ogni caso non vi aspettate la qualità di un 4 stelle italiano.

We couldn't complain too much due to the huge size of our room, or the view from the window over the city. However, we had to walk into/through a smelly corridor and most of the electrical devices in the room did not work (TV, Fridge, outlets). Also, the hotel was in desparate need of a remodeling. Other than that, it was a nice stay and the staff was very friendly. The location also cannot be beat. We walked everywhere, from the train station (10 min.), to the shopping areas, to the red light district, and all the way to the musuem district. Also, the bar and resturant are worth checking out.

I travelled alone. The room was stuffy and the fan didn't work for one night. They hairdryer didn't work and they replaced it. I couldn't open a window. The reception staff were not familiar with the museum pass and not very helpful. The breakfast served was very poor. The dinner in the bar was very good.

Our first room at the hotel was located down a fire corridor/stairs. The next one was the smallest we've ever stayed in. Good thing we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. The hotel as such, however - was pleasant and the location was central.

The hotel was ok. It was beautiful, safe and in a good location in the city centre. We booked a triple and were put in a room with one bed. When we complained they brought us a cot(not exactly what we had in mind when we booked a triple at $200 USD a night.) Then our toliet leaked, but they quickly put us into another room and a much better room and exactly what we expected the 1st time around! The mini bar was broken, but it was a small sacrifice! Overall I would say had we been put into the 2nd room originally our scores would have been much better! A nice place! also Breakfast was WAY overpriced--

Was first given a small gloomy single room where TV was not operating properly and window facing a building wall.Had to complain 3 times and was answered not very politely that it was because of building problems.Met some other customers moving to other floors where tv was in fact properly provided. After 3 times complaining at the reception with unfriendly staff, got a double room on another floor where tv was at least functioning properly, but light bulbs were off and the room gloomy and not very clean.Very poor quality standards and customer service for a 4 star hotel I have stayed in 2 star hotels before which were more comfortable.Dont recommend this hotel apart from the great location, because it is a waste of time and money.85 euro not worth it for that.I was very unpleased and outraged how I have been treated as a customer, no apologies given or respectable explanations.

This was probably the smallest room I have ever stayed in. The TV was not working properly and the staff was not able to fix this. The positive was the location (next to Dam-square) and the coffee/tea maker on the room. Conclusion: I expect much more service and comfort from a 4-star hotel. No value-for-money!

Our stay was wonderful. The people and accommodations were to our satisfaction. The rooms are small, but we didn't expect to spend much time in our room. The atmosphere of the hotel and the bar were fabulous. We would definitely come again.

Very noisy street, but fabulous hotel. I wore earplugs! Ate at a nearby Italian place, very good. I was underdressed for the hotel dining.
