Simple, little room! Very cramped toilet, unsuited for corpulent people. The room has to be paid on the day of arrival. They don't like a credit card. The stay in the Hotel Crystal will do for young people who don't have a lot of money. If you want a hotel with high standards you are wrong at this place. Quality vs. price is allright.

A good quality-price ratio for a hotel close to the center and clean. Hotel acces difficult to handicapped person(narrow staircases, tiny toilets). Personal pleasant and good breakfast(price included). Do not accept paiment by credit card, bring cash.

Plus points: The hotel is very close to Leidseplein which is the best area. I had a great time over there. It is also not too bad to walk with your luggage from the nearest tram stop. I had a really heavy luggage and I still managed to use the public transportation to and from the Airport. The other plus point is the area felt like very safe and stuff were very friendly. They tried their best to make my stay comfortable. I had to leave early so they prepared early morning breakfast and I was even give bottle of water for free. Stuff behavior was very friendly. Negative points are, it is really tiny but for one person it is manageable. The other negative point is as everyone mentioned no elevator so it is some task to lift big suitcases and stairs are really small and hard to handle. The bathroom is really tiny, they did not kid when they said it is small. Finally, not accepting the rent in credit card is not very helpful. A lot of travellers these days just rely on credit card. They definitely have to accept credit cards. The internet did not work. They need to have wireless working. Overall because of the proximity and good service and reasonable price in Amsterdam standard I will stay here again.

The hotel is located on a quiet street near the tourist areas but far enough away from the noise. Staff was helpful and friendly. Caution if you have luggage as the stairs are steep. Small room had a nice view of the back and reminded me of Vincent's Room, Van Gogh's famous painting. Common toilet very small closet but a separate shower room as large as my room. No WiFi internet access as advertised, I had an emergency overseas at 2:00am and had to search a while. Found the internet access in the lobby of the Marriott hotel nearby.

This hotel was very clean, room was small, but exactly as portrayed on the site. One note is that it is a good location for sightseeing (close to Vondelpark and Rjikmuseums and Heineken), but it is a good distance from the train station so be prepared for that.

Nice Place. Real central. Steep stairs, no lift but very pleasant stay. Thumbs up.

This hotel is across the canal and about 2 blocks form Leidseplein which was a great location. The stairs are tiny and steep but this is typical of Holland. There is no elevator. We were on the top floor so getting our luggage up and down was a hilarious experience in balance. Our room was tiny but all we needed was a place to sleep so it was fine for us. Toilet on the same floor and shower was one floor down. Staff was very friendly and spoke great English, also typical of Holland. Breakfast was good and plentiful. We left our room key with reception every time we left so we did not have to keep up with it. Reception is 24 hours. I recommend this hotel. location is good, friendly staff, clean rooms, maybe a bit overpriced for the value but I am frugal.

Location is the key! Take the 1,2or 5 tram from Central Station to the Leidseplein. This hotel is just outside the Leidseplein district which is the night club area of town. Dancing at the Paradiso club (8-22 Euro entrance)is a must. The hotel was full the entire time that we were there, but the hotel was not noisy at all. The breakfast was excellent, typical Dutch cuisine. Restaurants are expensive and so a good breakfast that was included in your room was very helpful. There are a few restaurants nearby, but most are in the Leidseplein. I paid 150 Euro a night for a quad room with a shower and toilet. The room was fairly clean and spacious but not top notch by any standard. If you book a room without a shower and toilet, be aware that your floor will either have a shower OR a toilet, but not both. The staff were not overly friendly, but did their jobs and were available to answer any questions. The front door to the hotel has an automatic lock so it made the hotel very safe. Other hotels have their front doors open during the day and many people have had their luggage stolen from the lobby. While the hotel met my expectations, I would like to try a more modern type hotel with an elevator and more room. Americans travel with a lot of luggage and it was extremely difficult staying on the 4th foor and walking up very steep stairs!

Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Personale gentile ed accogliente. Vicinissimo ai principali musei; il centro si raggiunge in 20 min. a piedi.

Excellent location, in quiet area, very close to the museums and Leidseplein. Public transport for city centre very accesible. Extremely friendly and hepful staff, double room had a tv and safe deposit box, but was a bit small and the bed cover looked like it hadn't been washed in months. The shared toilet was very clean but really small! Breakfast was good and included on the price. Beware that you must pay in full (cash only) when you check in. Overall had a very pleasant stay, very good value for money and would definitely go back.

The staff were friendly and energetic, the breakfast room and breakfast was nicer than I anticipated, and the location was superb. The room was basic but provided everything I needed. I hope there are rooms available there for any subsequent trip I make to Amsterdam.

The stairs to heaven were very steep. A lift would have been a great item to have. Staff was very nice and courteous. Thanks for the great stay.

The hotel was comfortable and staff were friendly, however the boiler had broken down the night before we arrived so we didn't have any hot water until the fourth day of our holiday. We were offered a shower down the road in another hotel but we opted for the cold refreshing douche instead. The breakfast was basic and the staff friendly.

The hotel is very well placed for the museums and is fairly comfortable. Our stay was spoilt by the fact that no room was available at the hotel when we arrived and we had to walk to another hotel and move back again to the Crystal for the next night.

The room was not good at all- The price was 50 euro and it should be 30 then I would have been satisfied with the condition. To use the title hotel is wrong for a standrd like this. the pepople who worked there was nice! the photos on the web is too good for how the "hotel" is in real.

The only thing that was worst was the payment. In venere's confirmation paper appears that the payment is at the end of the stay and that we could pay by card. In the hotel they tell us that we have to pay not at the end of the stay and they not allow us to pay by card because of the commission they have to pay if we do that that way. But we have to pay commission too in the cash machine. It's the only thing because we are not as satisfied as we could be.

Hotel was basic but clean. We had a cold welcome to our room as no-one had put any heating on to take the chill off, and it was freeeeezing outside! On day two of our stay we had been out all day and returned to change before going out in the evening only to discover the heating once again turned off, presumably during the time the room was cleaned. It was noisy in our room which overlooked the street and other guests in the hotel didn't help by being loud when coming back into the hotel. The curtains didn't fit, so we had the glow of the neon sign outside shining in through our room all night, but we managed to sleep well after visiting a few coffee shops!! On the whole our weekend in Amsterdam was good. If I was to stay at the Hotel Crystal again I would ask for a room away from the street. But the location is perfect for Liedesplein (5 mins walk) the main area with pubs and restaurants galore.
