This hotel offers a true canal house experience with all the wonderful hospitality Amsterdam has to offer. I arrived early and waited comfortably on the balcony overlooking the very busy, yet real city feel of the Raadhuisstraat. The service is also impeccable with a very good breakfast and an open coffee bar. As long as you can handle very steep steps this is a an excellent value and a worthwhile experience.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. On the day of my checkout I was feeling unwell so skipped breakfast to get extra sleep. After I checked out the man on the service desk offered to prepare breakfast for me anyway, an hour after the ending time. Location is good, close to Dam square and Anne Frankhuis. Only negative was people smoking on the balcony of the shared eating area with windows open--the smoke blowing inside made me sick. But impossible to avoid cigarette smoke in Amsterdam so don't blame the hotel for that.

The room was nice, even if there was some noise from the street. Breakfast was good and various for me. The hotel was in the centre and near all you want to see in amsterdam. What I appreciated very much was the kindness of the staff, really friendly. I would recommend the hotel.

I came late a night. The receptionist was a really nice man. Very helpful. He carried my back up the stairs and disappeared before I could give him a tip. The room was very clean, but on the small side. I nice balcony. The breakfast was excellent. Good value for Amsterdam prices.

the double room without bath is very small. In particular, two people cannot stand up together while the triple room has the bath inside and it is wider. So the triple room should be good for three friends.

The bill I have to pay immediatly when arrival. There is not accept any credit cards! Only cash! The printing of the bill I have to claim. With other words: No Service. The rooms are very loud, because it´s a very busy street with busses, trams and cars.

The hotel has a sters very hard to climb if you have physicals problems. The room was very nice and clean. The employees are very helpful. The surroundings are Great, very central, 3 minutes to Anne Frank House, less than 10 minutes to red light district. Attention to parking car – 5 €/hour!!! Only Sunday is gratuity. I will go to this hotel next time in Amesterdam.

if i am in amsterdam again i will definitely stay there. hotel has fantastic position, staff was very nice, breakfast (including in price) rich. we stayed in double room with shared bathroom. room( with little sink, tv, locker) was very very small, but we didnt mind. showerroom was ok. the only thing i didnt like was toilet as there isnt much space. hotel is not suitable for older people and families with small kids because of very steep steps.

loction of hotel was very good but the room was so small maybe thats the way rooms are in amsterdam , bath room and mans room was out side the room , i was single there for 3 night ,and it was hard for me ,after hearing people having sex at night in there rooms lol , my room was on the street side so i could hear all the cars and trams passing by too, in 3 days they clean my room one time , the guy who greets you was nice , they told me there internet works in the room ,since i had my laptop with me but internet did not work in my room, because my room was on 4th floor , so i had to come to 2nd floor, and sit in hall way since they dont have any commen area to sit , the break fast was very good they have a lot of things to pick from ,i think it was little expensive for what i paid for again my room was so small its # 8 room there and every thing was falling apart in the room too , tabel others bed was 3 by 6 feet ,i am lucky i am not so tall, one more thing to add is on internet when i book the hotel i book on cridet card but when i get there they chage me chash before they give me the key for room , so be ready for that , take a lot of chash with you .

The room was a bit noisy, as it sits on a main street. But the staff was amazing, the breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect - around the corner from the Anne Frank House and down the block from a large pick of restaurants. There is a very steep staircase leading up to the hotel. I would stay here again, but would NOT recommend this for older travellers.

This was an economy room, but was actually pretty nice, small yet cozy I even had a balconey. Showers and toliet were shared. Just a couple of blocks east of Dam Square so its close to the tram and the RLD. Would stay there again.

This place turned out to be way better than I was expecting. For such a cheap price, this room more than got the job done. Breakfast was INCLUDED and more than sufficient every morning. Very small hotel, actually it's someone's house I think, only 9 total rooms. There are two showers and one toilet and it was never a problem. Good location, inbetween the Anne Frank House and Dam Square and away from the big crowds but still close enough to the action. Close to the Vondelpark and the Red Light District. Plenty of restaurants, shops, coffeeshops in the surrounding area. Smoking is allowed in the rooms. Definitely recommend this hotel if you are traveling with a friend and want to save some money on rooms. Definitely got money's worth!

The hotel is on the 2nd floor with 2 level steep steps in between. This should be mentioned in the hotel description, as this can be a big problem for disablities or seniors or travellers with kids. Orerall great experience.

We had a room on the top floor. Lovely little balcony overlooking the street with an angled view of the palace. Very nice. Worth noting are the 72 steps from the entry to the room and they were VERY steep. Pack light. Luggage up and down those stairs is tricky and scary. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great.

A really nice receptionist offered to carry my bags up to the room! So nice. The location was excellent. I recommend hiring a bicycle so that you can see the sights quickly and easily. On Prisengracht there are several good restaurants just past the Hotel Pulitzer and onthe same side. One is a great wine bar (Vyne) and the other serves delicious tapas. Sorry forgot the name of it but it is quite near Vyne.

Staff were very helpful, hotel right in the heart of the city. Hotel hard to find though as the picture of the hotel is of the back.(you need to look for a little door on the main street). Very steep stairs, and the car parking in the city is only for an hour so check where your going to leave your vehicle. Would definately stay again.

The single room was so small - it is like a sleeper on a train. The shared bathrooms are even smaller - you can harly close the door to the toilet without doing some acrobatics there. The receptionist was rude. I would not have stayed there if I knew what this place is like. Better pay 30 euros more for something meant for humans. Awful experience.

When we arrived at Clemens hotel a sweet asian girl at the office offered us a tea for our arrival. She great welcomed us and everything well started. Our room (the double de luxe)was clean and shower and toilets were included. BEWARE because some other rooms don't have them included and you have to use COMMON TOILETS and SHOWER outside in the corridor. It is not well specified on the Venere Description so take care. Our Double De Luxe Room had a blacony where it was pleasant to stay for looking at down street. So, everything was announced to be great for our trip. BUT, when we came down our room after taking a break, a guy with glasses and black hairs (he said he was the owner of the hotel) at the reception caught and DEMANDED US TO PAY CASH the room before we stayed or night in it. I said him i only had credit card but he said credit card service was not available anymore and that he absolutly wanted CASH NOW(it was 10:00 PM !!). His attitude was very IMPOLITE an AGRESSIVE as if only cash money interested him !!! We had to go for searching cash for him and payed that guy... The day after, when we took our breakfast (good as well but wery small breakfast room) that guy was still here with his bad attitude... One more thing to say...be careful about stairs reaching the hotel office : those stairs are very high and narrow if you have luggages and perhaps dangerous if you have little children...As a conclusion our room was great with balcony and toilets and shower included and breakfats was good... THE ONLY THING TO CHANGE IS THIS HOTEL IS THE BLACK CURLY SHORT HAIRS GUY WITH GLASSES WHO PRETENDED TO BE THE OWNER OF THAT PLACE! PETTY GUY !

We stayed in a budget room. Every thing was very small - the stairs, the room and the double bed was not double but a large single. The toilet was a cubboard in the hallway. But comparede to the price it was OK. Our room - though small - had a lovely view to the backside of the hotel. The only noice (from outside) was birds singing and the local church bell.

Very nice employees, good breakfast, in the center of Amsterdam, room Nr.2 was quiet, pretty and and the most spacious of the hotel. The standard rooms are very small and without shower (bathroom outside). The stairs to the first floor are incredible steep, breakfast room is only for 10 - often we had to wait more than half an hour to get seats for 3,the bathroom smells (from channel?)

A really comfortable hotel in the real city center. The only problem we found were the stairs to the public areas, but the rest of the characteristics (including staff, price, location...) are fantastic.

The hotel is cheap and next to Dam square, indicated for young people. But the photo on the internet site is not true because in that building there are a lot of hotels and this one (like the others) is really small.
