Hotel is located in a lovely residential neighbourhood; starting from it in the morning and returning to it in the evening is a pleasure. At the same time, reaching main points of interest is a matter of a short, easy tram ride. Breakfast is downright basic, but it is worthwhile to take it at least once for the pleasant dining room overlooking Vondel Park. Hotel owners are friendly and I thank them for good advice on cultural attractions. Arriving by tram (#2), get off at Valerius Plein, turn right and follow Emmalaan to the corner of Koningslaan. If you are a lover of music, do not miss a concert at the great hall of the Concertgebouw with its fabulous acoustics.

I booked a double room but got a twin and when I asked reception for a double I was told the hotel doesn't have any doubles only twin rooms. This is completely misleading on the website. The location is excellent, quiet and close to tram so easy to get to/from. Breakfast was not available when I wanted it at 7.30 - 8am even though hotel states breakfast available from those times. This is really a guest house with no reception available early/late or food available early but comfortable, quiet and lovely neighbourhood. Minibar was empty!

This was an amazing hotel for the money in a very quiet neighborhood. No problem being a tourist. The tram stop was just a few minutes walk away. Only problem was we had a fridge but it wasn't plugged in. Luckily it was cold enough to put our groceries on the balcony. I will go back there if I'm ever in Amsterdaam again.

We were on our honeymoon and Hotel Borgmann Villa made sure we had a room with a balcony looking over Vondel Park as a surprise. It is very close to the tram stop and easy and quick to get into the city. For the price, it was an amazing deal. You are right on the park and can walk to the city center and museums (about a 15 minute walk thru the park). Our room was a bit small, but the balcony made up for it and though our bed was two double beds pushed together, it was like having a king size bed and they were very comfortable beds to boot. Definitely recommend this hotel!

A very nice small hotel for a short stay in Amsterdam. It's a bit out of the center but easy to reach from the tram station by a short walk, and situated in a pleasant leafy area right next to Vondelpark. Perhaps not cosy enough for a romantic retreat but for me it was a beautiful, clean, and quiet place to go back to after work. I will definitely return.

This was the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. It is away from the noisy center, located in a lovely residential area right next to beautiful Vondel Park. The tram stop was just a few minute walk, and the centre 10-15 minutes by tram, depending on where you wanted to go. The managers were extremely welcoming and helpful.

We enjoyed the Borgmann Villa very much. The room was large and lovely and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, and we loved the location right on the Vondelpark. We weren't interested in paying 12 Euros for the cold buffet breakfast, but after reading that you can pay to just have coffee, tea or juice in the nice dining room, we enjoyed that. One caveat: we found the directions given by the hotel from the tram stop confusing, due to curving streets and construction blockages. But that's partly because we missed the first choice of stops because we were still learning the tram system.

We have had great satisfation at the stay in the Hotel Borgmann Villa. Hotel location is very nice, because it is near the beautiful park, near the Air port and near the town. I am also gratified at the competence and service of nice staff. I would like to enjoy a quiet bar-lounge in hotel at night!

Very enjoyable stay at the Borgmann Villa. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location in a quiet, pleasant residential area right across from beautiful Vondel park. A couple of kilometers from the city center, but a short walk from the #2 tram line that goes there. There is a lift. I was on the 4th floor. Yes, the room was quite small (even by European standards), but the price was reasonable and who comes to Amsterdam to spend a lot of time in the room? Although small, the room was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, with plenty of hot water All in all, very happy with the hotel and the Venere process. Would highly recommend to those who prefer/don't mind being outside the city center.

With four girls in one room (a triple with an extra cot), we paid hostel prices for hotel service: nice clean beds made every day, a bathroom with a good shower, and a helpful owner. Know that the hotel's in a very quiet neighborhood outside of downtown, so you can't just stumble out of a coffeeshop and into your bed. 20 minute walk from Leidseplein, or 5 min tram ride.

Only negative thing is it is a bit far from downtown, however if you read the hotel description, it states this. Very nice park right behind the hotel. Overall a very good quality for the price. Great if you like park settings since a morning walk in the park is a great way to get the day started.

Whilst being very welcoming the staff is also very efficient. Having stayed there for a week, we had left our camera behind at the hotel and the staff were efficient enough and very helpful to the extent that they packed the camera in a box, well protected and shipped it via my preferred shippers. Thank you for helping us. ONE very small suggestion is that the double rooms should have a double bed and not two single beds joined toegether. BUT OTHERWISE VERY GOOD STAY.

This is a very nice hotel is a very quiet part of the city. If you are looking to avoid the craziness that is Amsterdam nights this is the place for you. We had a view of Vondelpark out of the window. Good restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk. The SW entrance to Vondelpark is 1 minute around the corner. We walked to the central train station in about 30 minutes so basically you are not far from anything. Staff spoke English and was very helpful with questions regarding the city and activities. Continental breakfast price was a bit steep, but it was also the best continental out of the 7 hotels in Europe that we stayed at.

Charming small hotel situated in a quiet but cosmopolitan part of Amsterdam a stone's throw from the Vondelpark and close to tram links into the city centrr. Rooms were spacious and well furnished - heating was quite high although going in winter, this wasn't a problem. Bathroom fine although the shower was only OK. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only potential downside of the hotel is the lack of eating facilities - no evening meal and the breakfast is incredibly basic. However, there are plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby, so this wasn't a major issue for us. Definitely a good pick if you want to stay somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of the centre of Amsterdam but within easy reach of it.

They said the key would be under the mat because I was arriving late. It wasn't. My shower was full of someone else's hair when I arrived and they didn't even have cleaning solutions *I* could use to clean it (when I offered because no cleaning people were there and I needed to get ready for a meeting)! They didn't even give me a discount or breakfast or anything. The room was like a closet. No space even to hang long clothes or anything -- just small enough for me to lie down in a bed for one person. It was shocking.

Amsterdam was a bit warm and we missed airconditioning after a long day of museum and siteseeing. The rooms were airy with exceptionally spacious baths. The location to the Tram as well as the park, directly to the rear of the property, was very nice. Mosquitos, high temperatures, no screens on the windows and the humidity of Amsterdam were the downside to very nice accomadations.

This hotel was far away from the central district. We were very concerned about returning to the hotel before the trams quit running -- it would have been a long walk. Also, the lift shuts down at 10:30 pm and you have to climb the stairs. While it was in a residential area and relatively quiet from traffic noise you did have the neighborhood barking dogs. There was no air conditioning to the third floor room so the windows had to remain open for cool air. The breakfast room was delightful. I thought the 10EUR were a bit high for breakfast that was complimentary at other hotels we stayed at in Europe. For someone interested in the nightlife of Amsterdam I would not recommend this hotel.

Excellent place for families. Away from the bustle of town but close enough to walk. In a quiet residential neighborhood, bordering on a beautiful park, and a 10-15 minute walk to the museums and vibrant areas. The breakfast isn't the best but there's nothing else in the area, so bite the bullet and spend the 10 Euros, unless you're going to buy bread and cheese the day before and keep it in the mini-fridge!

A great place to stay: quiet, and a pleasant walk to the Van Gough and Rijksmuseum. The tram into town was straightforward so nightlife and other activities were only minutes away. The breakfast room had a lovely view of the park and the coffee was excellent and plentiful. Would definitely stay there again. The only slight issue was other guests making a lot of noise getting out of taxis at about 2 a.m. but I suppose this is to be expected in such a lively city!

Beatiful location right by the park but its a 30min walk to to anything worth seeing. A very nice walk through the park though. It is much easier to take there simply public trans. However, the rooms are very small and not spacious. So don't bring alot of bags. Parking is 12 euro a day and if you don't wake up before eight thirty in the morning you could get a ticket for 65 euro like i did. But the hotel staff helped me get out of it. Which was nice. The hotel is really a nice place to stay as long as you are ok with small rooms. We loved the staff and location.

We asked for a double bedroom and we got 2 twin beds next to each other and kindly covered by a thick blanket that hided to our eyes the fact that each bed had its own linen set. No good thing for a couple! I'd say the only thing in this place worth mentioning is the location, if you love green parks and if you don't mind 7 minutes walking to the next tram stop. The rest is really average-ish.

We stayed at this hotel based on comments from Venere.com clients and were glad we did. The hotel is in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood just a 5 minute walk from the Emmastraat trampstom (tram #2), which is but a 2 minute tramride to the Rijksmuseum and a 5 minute tramride to the Leidseplein. The lady at the front desk was very kind and accommodating. The triple room was spacious and clean, the bathroom also large and clean; just perfect for a 3-person family. We didn't stay for breakfast, and so cannot comment on the food. Given the price of other establishments in Amsterdam, this was good value for money. Would stay there again.

This was a little bit further out than we thought, maybe a 15 min walk from Leidseplein Square (nice walking through the Vondlepark though!). There is a tram stop about 2 mins walk from the hotel (No 2 line, Valeriusplein is the name of the stop, the stop after Emmastraat). This takes about 15 mins from Centraal Station. The hotel itself was excellent, very quiet, reasonable room size and good toilet with bath and shower. We can't comment on the breakfast because we always went out. Steep stairs to the room (as in all older houses in Amsterdam) but there is a lift which can just hold 2 people plus cases if you need it. We would go back if we wanted to stay in this area again, but probably would try and get something nearer the Leidseplein area because it is the hub for most of the things that you would want to do in Amsterdam.

It's a nice place, just a bit out of town. It is difficult to get there with the night service. We had to walk back at night. Venere guys: the question "type and number of rooms" is ridiculous, I didn´t count or inspected them.

A bit dowdy and worn around the edges but basically a pleasant joint. Just on the edge of Vondel Park--and next to the heavily guarded British Embassy--it's in a very quiet and tree lined part of town. If its summer and your windows are open however Vondel Park can be a noisy party destination for Amsterdam's youth--so bring ear plugs just in case. the staff is super nice but teh breakfasts are lame--definitely not worth the 10 euros. The Bagels and Beans about 10 minutes walk away offers much better fare as do any number of cafes in the Beverly Hills of Amsterdam just up the street. All in all not a bad place.

Borgmann Villa is one of the finest small hotels in Europe! I have stayed there twice and have never been disappointed. The site is very accessible to the Trolley Line 2, and the location on a quiet street on the Vondel Park is superb. Amsterdam is an expensive city to find hotels in, and this is a nice one for the price. It is a bit far from the center of the city, but right near a tram line. You can also take a 20 min walk through the park, which is lovely, but after a long day, this isn't as appealing and I recommend taking the tram or a cab. The rooms were a bit small, but clean. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and nice, she even stayed an hour late to check us in on Friday night since we took a late train. It is in a nice residential section and the views of vondelpark are quite nice. Yes, the breakfast room has a nice view, but no way is the breakfast worth 10 euro. It's only cereal and a few breads, nothing special. I recommend the pancake place that is a block or so straight outside the entrance to vondelpark.

This is a lovely hotel in a suburban area of Amsterdam. It is on the (main) tram line #2; having said that, it is right beside Vondelpark, and we enjoyed the daily 15-minute walk through Vondelpark to reach the start of the city centre (near Leidseplein).

This hotel was just as it was described. It is clean and in a lovely part of Amsterdam, overlooking Vondel Park. The hotel staff (Irina was the only one we met) was very welcoming and great in giving us suggestions about how to get around during the public transportation strike, etc. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who doesn't mind staying a bit off the beaten path.

The location is very pleasant, just next to Vondelpark, where one can walk and spend time. Although a bit far from the center its a quick journey by tram, and it's an easy walk through the park to the zone of the Rijksmuseum. One of the ladies at the reception was very friendly and helpful, but the other was not so nice. We had a problem with a phone call that they claimed we had made, which was not true, but they were unable to detail the date, time or destination number, so we refused to pay. Also be aware that local taxes are not always included in the price quoted at Venere, so check in advance.

Perfect location for those who want a peaceful setting in Amsterdam. Staff was very helpful and gave us a bigger room to better accomodate our baby.

A very nice, friendly, small hotel in a pleasant location overlooking Vondelpark, a couple of minutes' walk from the tram stop (line 2). The (Russian) staff were very welcoming and helpful and created a friendly atmosphere in the place. We were perhaps unfortunate in having a room over the front entrance which meant that there was a bit of street noise (although the area is not busy) and we were awakened a couple of times by late-returning guests letting themselves in (or attempting to!). Not the hotel's fault, of course - and I'm sure the rooms at the rear, overlooking the garden, would be totally quiet. We didn't have breakfast - since there are nice cafes nearby where one could breakfast quite cheaply, but the breakfast room looked very inviting, with a lovely view of the garden. We should have tried it at least once. All in all, this was very good value for a nicely situated small hotel in a safe, quiet area with easy access to the city centre.

Vivamente consigliato. In a really good location, next to Vondelpark, near by the tram stop, good neighbourhood, 10 mnts walk from Leidseplein. Breakfast is plentiful and served in room overlooking the Vondelpark (not included). The staff do all the best for your stay. Highly recommended.

It was a very nice trip to amsterdam. The hotel was ok. But we are missing a bar in the hotel, because we like to sit in and relax after the walk in the city.

it's a bit far from the main streets - so for a short stay in amsterdam i'd suggest an hotel closer to the center but for a business trip is perfect, the area around is beautiful and peaceful - the view over the park is great! for breakfast u have to pay 10,00 € and u have also to pay a local tax-we payed 40,00 € for 3 persons.

A wonderful little hotel...Perfect for those who prefer quiet and don't mind walking or exploring by tram...We had room #11, a front room with a floor to ceiling bay window...overlooking a quiet street, with the English Consulate two doors down...We awoke with singing birds every morning. A very pleasant little hotel in a lovely neighborhood...If you are the type of traveller who prefers staying in residential neighborhoods, I would suggest you give the Villa Borgmann a try...

Hotel Borgmann Villa is a superb accommodation in a residential area along Vondel Park, convenient to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijkmuseum, and accessible to Trolley line #2 (Emma Straat stop) that will also take you to the Leidesplein, Magna Plaza, and Centraal Station in minutes. It is only a few doors away from the British Consulate (although as a Yank, that didn't help me!). The rooms are modern and clean. You'll really enjoy the view of the park from the lovely dining room as you eat breakfast (additional E10 per person). I would especially recommend it to the return visitor who may not want to be in the hustle of "centrum" city, but who still wants easy access. On the way in, I did hire a cab to take us from Centraal Station with our luggage, but I had to guide the driver to the locale. We returned via the trolley without problem.

We stayed two nights at the Borgmann Villa hotel. In general, we were quite happy with the hotel. The welcoming was by far the best that I've ever had in any hotel; the lady at the reception was extremely nice and friendly and gave us a lot of helful information for tourism in our short stay. The room was quite OK, everything very clean. The hotel is located in a residential area very quiet: the only problem is that you need to take the tramway to get to the city center (Line 2, Valerius Plein stop, around 15 min. to Central Station). The price was in my opinion a bit high, but ALL the hotels in Amsterdam are in fact really expensive. We would go back to this hotel if we'd return to Amsterdam.

Only positive points for this hotel: - easy to join by car from the motorway - parking places just in front (10€ per day) - 5 minutes to join the tram stop. - excellent welcoming (the employees give you a map of A'dam, explain you all you need to start your visit). We highly recommend this hotel!!

My wife and I were very happy with our stay here. We’re a relatively young couple, but past the point where we feel the need to stay in the middle of the action. This hotel was perfectly situated right next to a beautiful park and two blocks from a tram line that takes you directly downtown in less than 10 minutes. (Take a tram, do not travel in this city by car). The rooms were bright and clean, and event though we stayed there on a Saturday night and I believe most of the rooms were occupied, there was no noise. They have a small dining room (breakfast room) overlooking a quiet pond along the edge of the park. There was only one young woman that we saw working the desk and dining room while we were there but she was very friendly. If we return to Amsterdam, we both agreed that we would stay there again.

This cosy family-style 15-rooms hotel is located right behind the Vondelpark (if coming from the city centre). It is not as central as other hotels may be (8 minutes by tram 2 to the Leidseplein), but the location is excellent for two reasons: first, it is a very quiet, beautiful and safe residential area where nice eateries abound, and second, it is much cheaper to park in front of the hotel if travelling by car (the parking costs one third of the price in the city centre). The hotel owner was very welcoming and charming; she was so kind as to serve us a breakfast outside normal breakfast hours. The cleanliness of rooms was impeccable and they come in different sizes, but you need to call and ask for a bigger one (or even one with a balcony) if you want it. Please note that the price on Venere does not include a certain local tax (about EUR 4 a night for two people).
