Hosts very welcoming, changed our room from rather dark [but very quiet] first floor room to one overlooking the street, this was a nice and light and we could see canal over to left over a busy at rush hour road [hotel not actually on main road]. The hotel is actually very well placed for many of the main attractions in Amsterdam. We walked everywhere eg to busy and overcrowded Leidesplein [5 mins], Museum quarter, and Vondel park [30 min] via the wonderful cafe Toussaint. Prinsengracht is reached in minutes and from there it is a lovely stroll to Jordaan area. Breakfast is good value, and hotel owners could not be more helpful. Rooms very clean, good shower and the lift is a real plus.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt. and found it to be very noisy because it was on top of a rest. and across from a main road. The apt. was still was in need of further renovations. The t.v. was archaic and almost impossible to operate. The lighting was inadequate. Based on location we would have done better to get to separate rooms than stay in this apt.

One of the best stay ever. Staff was extra helpful, room was nice and clean, surronding area is silent enough for sleep, yet real close to the city center. Didn't have much space in the room, but compared to other dutch hotels it was quite big.

Our room was a "superior double" so the spaciuosness wasn't a problem for us. The hotel is very clean and in a wonderful position, easy to reach by tram (nr 1 from the station)and close to many attractions, shops pubs, and there's a "cruise tour" stop in front of the hotel. The breakfast can suit every taste (even many of the foods was bought at Lidl nearby the hotel). The staff was very kind and helpful for all our needs. At least...the price is't cheap but is good for the standard of the town. Recomended!

We enjoyed staying at hotel d'amsterdam. Our room had plenty of space for 2 people and luggage, the room was clean and sunny, and we had a small balcony with chairs to sit outside. Staff was helpful and the location was good, not too loud but very close to cool things like Leidesplein and the gorgeous Vondelpark. The room wasn't super cheap but that's probably normal as Amsterdam is known to be a bit pricey.

Hotel is in great location, 5 mins walk from Vondelpark, the Rijk and Van Gogh museums. Tip for the museums is buy a ticket from the kiosk just past Vondelpark on the opposite side of the road which means you can walk straight to the front of the hour long queues and get straight in! You can get boat trip from near the museums as well so you don't need to walk all the way back to Central station to get the boat trip which is 20 to 25 mins walk or 12 Euro in a taxi. It is quite a nice walk to Dam Square, about 15 mins or you can take the tram which is located 5 mins walk from the hotel at a popular square called Liedesplein. The Liedesplein square also has some very nice bars and restaurants and we ate around here 3 out of 4 nights. If you want to walk, just follow the tram lines straight to Dam square. China town and red light district are also 15 mins walk from the hotel or 2 mins walk from Dam sqaure and is worth a stroll through. We walked through at 5pm and it was very safe and not too seedy. I am not sure what it is like after dark though. Hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff and good value for money. Our air con did not work at first but they provided a fan until it was fixed (actually they replaced it with a new one!) the next day. We stayed at the front of the hotel on the 1st floor and there is a little bit of city noise but not enough to keep you awake. If your unsure, ask for a higher room or a room at the back. Breakfast was simple but adequate with eggs, toast, croisant, coffee, cheese, meats, cakes etc available. stairs are quite steep but there is a lift so no need to use them. Hotel is a quite small and quaint but well worth its 3 stars and it is worth the 120 euro per night. Remember, in Amsterdam you don't get much for that price and you can pay a whole lot more but we would happily stay here again as we don't mind walking and the convenience of the tram, museums etc. For groups, you may want to be a little closer.

We were a couple and stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. First of all, if your looking for Amsterdam attractions (pubs, resturants, coffee shops) the location of the hotel is a little bit far from everything. Regarding the stay itself, we were on the first floor and the AC stopped working every 45 minutes, and we were not the only guests that this happen to them. every time you have to go to the lobby (or call) and they will move the jumper for the electricity. Breakfast was a regular dutch breakfast - not too many choices ...

The hosts are absolutely charming, always ready to help with a smile. They will do everything in their power to please you and treat you as honored guests. The rooms are very small, but have everything needed (hairdryer, a shower always warm and that works well, an alarm clock, etc...) The situation is very good, close to some of the greatest Amsterdam museums and the beautiful Vondelpark. One tram will get you downtown very fast.

Excellent short stay budget hotel. Don't expect space though. Steep stairs no problem due to modern elevator. Well functioning wireless lan in rooms. Nice breakfast room with surprisingly varied and fresh buffet. Easy and cheap access from and to airport by bus to Leidseplein - you can use the 24 or 48 hour tram pass on the bus, no need to spend extra on train ticket; trains also frequently crowded.

Amsterdam was the fist stop of my personal travel in Europe continatial. I did alot search and found Venere.com, I am happy with it. I arrived hotel at mid night, since rail problem. To my supprised, staff just said not problem and asked me to have a good sleep. Also, the staff help me to find bicycle and laundry, give me free map, very helpful. I like them, as I really enjoy my stay in Amsterdam and this hotel.

My 2nd time in Hotel D'Amsterdam - a clean hotel in a quiet area offering decent breakfast. Location is within walking distance to Leidseplein, the Museum Quarter and with easy access to trams. Owners are nice people. I had a single room which was basic but clean and with a comfortable bed. Towels clean but now look tired. Overall good price. Will stay again here! Recommended.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are not spacious and bathrooms a bit of a squeeze but perfectly OK for a single occupancy. Good location near to museums and restaurants. However some distance to carry luggage from tramstop and if arriving in Amsterdam by train for first time obtain public transport map and advice from information office at Central Station, it too far to walk.

The best thing this hotel has going for it is the location. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Leidesplein plaza. Otherwise, one could do much better. One humorous story: as my wife showered, the steam from the shower set off the fire alarm for the hotel. Nothing like this has ever happened to us anywhere, ever. The staff rudely suggested that if the fire department had come to the hotel, we would have had to pay. I was personally offended by this, and I feel it demonstrated their unproffesionalism.

It´s a practical accomodation. very central location: to Leidseplan 3 mins by feet ; clean and light room ; small bed, but very comfortable (well sleeping) ; very tiny rooms with lesser bathroom (1qm? shower included!),but if you´re there just for quiet sleeping and to take your shower it´s perfect ; very friendly owner (it´s a couple) ; big breakfast with lots of fresh kinds of bread, fruits, coverings, drinks...! If you´re looking for a romantical or wellness hotel - it´s not adequate! I would always return.

A decent and relatively inexpensive hotel in Amsterdam is hard to find. I found that anything less than 90-100 euros is a dump, so I found this hotel to be a good value in comparison. I stayed in the twin room which was very spacious, the breakfast was good, and the location very convenient, within walking distance to all the sights. I'd stay here again, no complaints.

An interesting quality/price ratio: low price (for Amsterdam) and correct quality. Really small room (and tiny bathroom). But that's OK if you plan to visit the city and don't plan to spend much time in your room. Good location, just a little bit off the noisy places (although not far away).

It was well over priced for the size of the room. Our suitcases were bigger! They did offer to exchange our room for an even more extortionate price. The worse thing about our stay was the amount of bites we recieved from sleeping in their bed. We had to go to a chemist near the hotel to buy antihistimine creams and sprays to administer to the matress there. It ruined our stay and will never book through this site again.

I came to the hotel having read reviews about the small bathrooms and room size, so I was not dissappointed at all with what I recieved (but have to agree - they are VERY SMALL - my toilet was IN the shower cubicle... very odd). Overall, I had a very satisfying stay. The rooms were clean, the included breakfast was very nice (and plentiful), the free internet very welcome! (although the advertised "free wireless" never actually worked from my room, so I had to go down to the lobby to use the hotel computer there), and the position of this hotel was great. Only a 5 minute walk to Leidseplein... so very handy for public transport and all tourist activities. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. For the price, this was a great place for a reasonable price. I'd recommend it to anyone who is travelling on a budget.

We stayed in a double here for one night. We paid 65 euros and were not disappointed at all. I was a bit worried when we saw the outside, but the place was simple and clean. THe room was tiny, so you might want to ensure that you are booking a true double bed rather than the "slightly larger than twin" that we were stuck with. Not sure if that was because we paid less or what. Not a big deal for one night, but I would have been disappointed if it were longer. Clean, simple, cheap. Nothing fancy, but I didn't want to pay for fancy. The breakfast was ample, there was a computer to use (it said only 15 min free but I used it a bit longer), it has an elevator, the employees/owners were helpful and we left our bags all day in the locked breakfast room. I was very happy and was nervous about the cleanliness because it was such a great price. Oh yes, and the location is great at well. Very close to Leidseplein, Vondelpark, shopping, Jordaan, etc.

The hotel was perfect. It was on a quiet street with beautiful view. Right on the river so you're close to the water taxis and regular taxis. It is very close to the calmer tourist area. The public transportation is easy to use and near by. We had no trouble hopping on to get closer to the other areas. For the price, the hotel was fantastic. The washroom was recently redone so it was clean and very functional. It was a perfect hotel for the traveller on a budget. Normally for me (an avid Europe traveller)as long as the hotel is clean and has a decent washroom and is close to the sights, I am content. This hotel passed all of the above requirements. I was an independent tourist. I booked for 4 nights at 69euro each and when I wanted to extend it by 2 nights was charged 95euro per night! I deemed this outrageous as it was the same room! People in the hotel do not talk to each other, so I did not meet anybody. there is no 'common room' for people to meet. For tea and coffe in the rooms we were given small disposable plastic cups. Very nice, but rather small room, but that didnt matter. If you are in Amsterdam, you wont spend a lot of time in the room anyways. The room was very clean, had a sat TV and a very nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent in quality and the staff was very friendly. Internet access was available without further charges. All in all, it was a very nice hotel with a lot of flair. If we come to amsterdam again, we will certainly book this hotel again.

The double bed in our room was a little bit to small for two persons(perhaps 120x200)!But there's also a flatscreen tv in every room. But when we go again to Amsterdam, we will prefer this nice and obliging hotel. We stayed in AMS for 4 days. It's long enough to see the main sightseeings and have fun.

Very helpful manager. Arranged for a taxi to airport at half the price we paid when we came in.

Room was a little too small for two adults. No place to put your bags. Otherwise, great.

The rooms were tiny, no bathtub just shower on the floor, the breakfast was poor poor poor, questionable cleanliness (clean towels transfered on the elevator floor), good location though.

A lovely little hotel very near the central area (10 minutes walk to the leidseplein area with 100's of restauraunt and bars, 15 minutes walk to the museum district). Plentiful choice of food at breakfast- continental style with cheese, meats, cereal, ham, toast, bread, boiled eggs, fruit etc..) Room was quite small and the bathroom minute, but I had imagined this would be the case when booking- still excellent value for money for the area it is is. Oh yes, and other reviewers are right about the stairs, I have never seen any so steep in my life- could be a real issue if you have mobility problems if the lift isn't working. Friendly and welcoming owners. I would definately stay here again.

It was the first time I went to Amsterdam. I spent all the time I lived in Amsterdam visiting the City so I came back to the hotel yust late in the evening to sleep and I wake up early in the morning. I think it's good enough for this kind of day. I saw there where an internet point inside and the breakfast room was clean and large. The centre of town was well connected by trams near the hotel and the battle was near too. I enjoyed the time yust because I choose this hotel.

Pretty good price/quality. The negative point for my single room was the bathroom/toilet in the room too small (space optimized to accommodate both toilet and shower in the same small spot and the sink was really too small) but for a short stay it was rather OK. Free WI-FI Internet connection available. Great all-you-can-eat b'fast buffet. Friendly hotel owners.

This hotel was perfect for our weekend stay in Amsterdam. Room was nice and clean but had a very small bathroom, something we really didn't mind. Breakfast has everything. Overall the best was the location: 3min walk to Leidseplein, where you can take public transport to elsewhere. Perfect price/quality. It is not indicated in Venere, but you must pay an extra 5% on top of the price that appears on the web page.

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel d'amsterdam. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The price is reasonable for the location-rooms a bit small but that is to be expected in Amsterdam. Nice breakfast variety.

The owners were the operators and very gracious. A fabulous breakfast buffet including beverages, fruits, cereals, sliced meats, cheeses, breads, sweet rolls, and boiled eggs were served by the owners. Very modern bathrooms were very small.

The room was fine but the bathroom area was tiny. To get into the shower, you had to move the shower door thing and squeeze past so you were wedged in by the toilet. When you showered, you had to stand where a man would stand to pee and needless to say the whole bathroom area was then soaking wet.

The room had nice amenities like a flat screen tv and a plush bed. It was also spacious enough and well laid out. No public area in the hotel to speak of. It is located near Leidesplein, which is convenient. Only drawback is that they asked me to pay in cash rather than by credit card. I would stay here again.
