Very good location, in a nice neighborhood and close to the city center. Rooms are OK, but very small and the bathroom of our room needed a redecoration. The rooms to the coutyard are less noisy, but still no really quite - but this is usual in such hotels in big cities.

The elevator was too loud. The door in the bathroom was just a sliding door that was broken. the shower door was not working. Although the hotel had its own parking, but cost 30 € per day. Breakfast was just as expensive. for the high room rates, it would have been nice to get a service without having to pay a huge.

This Hotel is quite good if you're on a budget, but not that low budget. Everything is very clean and conformable. The staff is friendly, most of them anyway. The rooms are quite spacious and the bathroom is quite neat. It can be easily reached with tram number 25 and 4. The breakfast buffet is a little expensive, but Amsterdam itself is very expensive. The only major drawback that I found was that the slabs were very thin, wooden-made I presume, so there was always these thumps from upstairs, which make it difficult to sleep if you have noisy neighbors. Apart from that, I recommend it widely.

First visit to the Aalborg Hotel. It was a great little hotel. Situated in a quiet area of Amsterdam, the centre of town is easily accessible by tram. Our hotel room was spacious and the staff that we met were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay there again.

Aarlborg Hotel was quite ok in general. The rooms were pretty small, but we booked "small single rooms", so that´s ok. But they were looking towards the street and it didn´t make any difference whether the windows were open or closed - so don´t forget your earplugs! But absolutely inacceptable was that the ROOM MAID OBVIOUSLY CHECKED THROUHG ALL OUR BELONGINGS!!! The suitcase, the toilet bag, the handbag and even my purse were carefully searched through. And when we told this to the guy at the reception he was not the least interested. So, if you choose this hotel, don´t leave any valuables or cards in your room.

The hotel is exactly as you'd expect it for such a modest price, nice and small. The staff there is simply great: young and welcoming people who'll give you all the advice and information you need. And for those who think that the location isn't good: the hotel is in front of a nice park, away from the chaos but yet near to the centre, as amsterdam is a little city. Definitely worth going! (Maybe just the breakfast was too expensive)

we stayed at the aalborg for 3 nights for a birthday break. the staff were very helpful and friendly and couldnt do enough to help. we found the location a little far out of dam square, but we had the travel pass which was the best money spent as we were able to travel anywhere in amsterdam on the trams with this pass.we were a group of 5 aged between 43 and 65, but the hotel was suitable for any age group. the continental breakfast was excellent and catered for everyone. this hotel was worth every penny and had no complaints at all.

1. Incredibly small room! No space for luggage, no space for yourself. 2. Sitting bath in shower where to keep the balance standing is a big problem. Shower head of very low quality. Hot water is a problem. 3. WiFi does not work. 4. two stars, not more.

Nice hotel in de pip neighborhood about 2 blocks from Albert Culp Market. Liked staying in a neighborhood rather than in the Canal district. Hotel management pointed us to a coin laundry nearby. Rooms were clearly done by an interior designer, we were on the 4th floor in a small attic room, but it was recently renovated and in excellent condition. Shower not a bathtub.

The hotel is good, the personal who work in the hotel were always very kind, they speak some languages and give some helps to us. The location is nice, not in the centre of the city but is nice to go walking to the centre. And it has a very nice park in front of the hotel. The only thing that I not like was the matrees, i'd change it as quickly as possible, but the rest was very good. Thank for the persons that work in Aalborg Hotel. I would recommend it if it was for no more than 1 night and all you care was a bed to sleep in. service was ok, bed average, but the bathroom not quite up to my expectation. towels are old and with stain. shower curtain stinks. apparent the pictures only showed the newest part of their hotel - the furniture which includes a closet (quite large) and desk, curtain that matches the bed cover as well as the bed itself. it's somewhat convenient and in a nice quiet residential neighborhood. right across a park and 3 min walk from the Albert Cuyp Market. The tram ride on the #25 (to Centraal Station) was a bit longer than I wished. All in all, for the same price I can possibly find something with similar quality in a more central location.

A little out of the centre of the city but then the city is a very large area with sight seeing in all directions. When first arriving its probably a little difficult to find yourself without a detailed map but with the shuttle service it was a quick trip from the airport. I found the hotel to be extremely good for the price. Public transport outside the front door, large supermarket for the budget concious and many restaurants close by.

The noise from the tram line right outside can be loud, and go on late (the only downside to a park view room) and the hotel is a little bit out of central Amsterdam - but that's about as negative a comment as I can make. Even then you can walk to Central Station or Dam Square in under 20 minutes, or be there on a tram in less than ten. Rooms were modern and spacious, reception staff were knowledgeable, friendly and warm, and the rooms were cleaned immaculately every day. We found it a perfect base and managed to explore the whole city from Aalborg in the little time we were there. Perfect position for the Albert Kuyp market and Heineken Experience too, both well worth a visit!

The hotel was everything we needed and at one of the lowest costs in Amsterdam for the period of travel (summer 2009). Most hostels cost more than the price of this hotel. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the centre of the city at Leidseplein - a beautiful walk along the canal. Failing that you can get a tram which will get you there in 5 minutes. There are lots of nice and chic bars and restaurants in the Pijp area which is where this hotel is situated. The price and quality were a good match. The room was very small but it had everything we needed, after all we were only sleeping there! I would recommend the hotel to people wanting to upgrade from hostels for better quality and the same price!

Single bed in room just two and a half feet wider, and ends of bed hitting the window wall and bathroom wall. Um, I did not complain about the leaking toilet plumbing that wet the floor after I flush, nor the facial hair still in the tiny & tricky shower tub left from the prior guest. It was a room facing the main street and Sarphatipark, on the third floor with trees providing privacy - so I didn't really want to move. Enjoyed the t.v. in room. Saw the back patio which was quite nice and parklike. Cute boutique (shops/restaurants) neighborhood a block and half away at side of park. Flea market there was a nice discovery. 30 mins walk to center of town, 45 mins walk to Van Gogh Museum, 1+ hr walk to Anne Frank House. Not central, but makes for nice walks and discoveries, and good on the pocketbook.

**PRIMA DI GIRARE LA CITTA', RECATEVI NEL BAR DELL'HOTEL E RACCOGLIETE TUTTI I BIGLIETTI DA VISITA ESPOSTI IN BACHECA...LA MAGGIOR PARTE SONO SCONTI PER I NEGOZI IN CENTRO E PER I MUSEI!!** Ultimo consiglio....andate a provare l'Heineken Experience (900 metri dall'hotel)!! Non ve ne pentirete!! ;)

The staff were really lovely, helpful and open minded(especially the main guy who maintains the fish tank). Location was fine, especially for people who like a stroll. But the rooms themselves left a lot to be desired. Being Amsterdam of course, our room reeked strongly of marijuana and it took a while to get used to it. Also, the bathrooms in no way matched the hotel pictures, even though we paid for a double. This was room no. 3 on the first floor.

Much smaller room but totally adequate for our needs and as always we were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the very decent breakfast. We'll be coming back again later in the year for sure. Half an hour walk into the centre or just a short ride on the tram so accessible for everywhere and very near the Heineken museum too. 1. Although I had requested a non-smoking room, when I arrived I was given a smoking room. After complaining, I was then given a non-smoking room. 2. The receptionist was unable to provide me with a proper VAT receipt: he could only produce a statement of account. I am sure this was through incompetence rather than any system inadequacies. 3. When I checked in, I was charged E9 p.d. for breakfast. The website had previously advised that breakfast was included in the rate. However, the receptionist pointed out that in the small print on my confirmation printout it did mention that "Starting from 01 October, breakfast will be subject to an extra charge of €9,00 per person". I noticed that the receptionist tried to charge another couple the €9, but they resisted and there was nothing on their confirmation of booking that mentioned the charge. The receptionist then said that the charge applied for some agents and not for others. It all felt somewhat underhand. 4. A few bulbs needed to be replaced in the room. 5. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the stairs are UNBELIEVEABLY steep: almost ladder-like (but there is a lift). 6. The breakfast room was functional but very basic. The breakfast itself was OK, but at E9 didn't really feel value for money.

We (family with teenagers) just spent 6 nights at this hotel, and would definitely stay again. Compared to other 3-star hotels in Amsterdam, it is fair value for money. We were in room 35 (the quad) which has a small balcony, situated at the back of the hotel and is therefore very quiet. The staff were overall very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and the advice we were given was always good. It's true the location is not near the centre, but the plus point is a quieter neighbourhood which feels safe. The only minor negative remarks we would make are the beds (2 single, 1 pull-down small single, 1 sofabed) which were not that confortable, despite excellent new and clean pillows and duvets, and the shower which cannot be described as powerful. Overall a good experience which contributed to make our stay in Amsterdam enjoyable.

the hotel is without organisation.the breakfast is poor and there aren't the essencial kind of bread. the garden is change for the warehouse of the rubbish. the cleaning of the room is not daily but is done only for the personal request.one window of our room was not possible to open.in the evening the bar of the hotel was a meeting place for esternal people. we wanted to talk with the director of the hotel but it was not possible because he lives in turkey and dipendents cannot take the initiatives to change something.

Typical of all mid-price Amsterdam hotels, the stairs are steep and rooms small. The hotel has a lift (elevator) with no internal door not uncommon, but it still doesn't mean I have to like them. The bed was comfortable and bsthroom modern. Nice LCD TV set. Room was pleasant enough, but I would hate to stay in winter. Window frame looked as though it would let in lots of draughts. Staff obliging. I had to leave early one morning before breafast was served and the staff arranged in advance for me to get an early breakfast. Annoying features - Not much drawer space to unpack, and nowhere really to put a suitcase to live out of. It was somewhere to sleep and shower. Digital alarm clock that needed to be reset every time I left the room because removing the key from the holder switched off the electricity. Had to unplug the TV to be able to plug in my phone charger - shortage of plug sockets.

On arrival reception was poorly staffed. The rest of the ground floor was a building site. 24 hour Reception but when I returned to my room at 21:30 it was not staffed. Ran a bath and realised there were no towels in my room. It was now 22:00, no one answered phone in Reception so it was still not staffed. Visited Reception, not staffed, phone off the hook. Walked into the building site (breakfast room) no one, walked through door near Reception which I took to be staff, called and knocked on doors....nothing! Went back through to Reception, no bell to push and noted phone was off the hook. Walked behind Reception desk, took a piece of paper from fax and wrote a note requesting towels. Looked up and saw a young man glowering at me through a glass door. He was surly and asked me why I was behind the desk, he must have asked me this 6 times and each time I told him, I had no towels, reception was not staffed, no one answered the phone because it was off the hook, I had paid for my room, I had been travelling since 08:00 that morning. He said there had been a fire alarm and I told him I didn't believe him and why would he take the phone off the hook if there was. He suddenly seemed to realise that I was not going to back down and told me he would be with me in a few seconds. I returned to my room and he turned up with the towels a few minutes later. The room was neat and tidy but like a passage and so tiny I felt I was in a cell. Because there was no breakfast room my breakfast was brought by room service, I asked for it at 08:00 and it arrived about 08:05. So glad that had only booked in for one night, couldn't get out of this hotel fast enough! Would NOT recommend.

Employees were not competent and willing to help.Rooms were incredibly small and freezing. They took out the TV from the rooms and did not even apologize. They forgot to clean the room and to make the bed.Service was inaccurate (i.e. sometimes they forgot to put towels or toilet paper in the room, one day they ran out of milk at breakfast). I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Good price including breakfast and all taxes. Breakfast was basic; cereal, tea, juice, meats & bread. Room was incredibly small but only 1 traveling so, it was sufficient enough. Staff was helpful and kind regarding the endless questions I had. Parking is expensive. Overall a positive experience

HOTEL CON CAMERE ESTREMAMENTE PICCOLE E NON DEL TROPPO PULITE: LA PRESENZA DEL BAGNO-DOCCIA PRIVATO COMUNQUE , AD UN PREZZO NON TROPPO ESAGERATO PER ESSERE AD AMSTERDAM, NE FANNO UN HOTEL CON UN RAPPORTO QUALITA'-PREZZO MEDIO . LA COLAZIONE A BUFFET INCLUSA NEL PREZZO NON ERA MALE E LA POSIZIONE PER RAGGIUNGERE IL CENTRO CITTA' DI AMSTERDAM ERA OTTIMA (CIRCA 20 MINUTI O POCO PIU' DI TRAM) IN CONCLUSIONE DIREI CHE PER UN FINE SETTIMANA L'HOTEL E' IDEALE PER CHI NON VUOLE SPENDERE TROPPO (SI POTREBBE COMUNQUE VEDERE ALTRE SOLUZIONI MIGLIORI ANCHE SE CON QUALCHE EURO IN PIU').
