In a converted house right next to Vondelpark, a beautiful park and center of activity for Amsterdammers. Quiet neighborhood, great tram access (lines 2 or 16), and very close to major Amsterdam attractions. Our room (no. 11) was large and had a bay window overlooking the street. Some rooms face Vondelpark. Staff is welcoming and helpful with planning your stay. Breakfast is too expensive at 12 euro pp for a standard "Dutch" breakfast -- there are many places, even in other hotels, that do English breakfast buffets or dutch breakfasts for 6 - 8 euro pp(try even along the Damrack or Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal).

Disappointed by this hotel which , considering our 3-day stay , should be rated 2 stars rather than 3-star. A poor welcome and registration ( we had to wait some time outside the closed door , being asked if we wanted to pay everything beforehand ). Then , the beds and the room were not done the first day...When we addressed this problem with the reception , we were told that she was not in charge of the rooms but only the reception and the breakfast... We hope the claim will be passed to the hotel management ...

We had a family dinner on sunday evening and before that we visited two museums. On monday we wandered through the town and visited a cinema. At the hotel we only met the lady-in-charge. We liked the location so near to the Vondelpark.

*Pros:* The location is excellent, right next to Vondelpark. The British consulate is next door and the Colombian consulate is just down the street. The neighborhood feels safe and the streets are enchanting at night. You can easily walk into the museum district and the best shopping areas in about twenty or thirty minutes. There's a grocery supermarket about seven minutes away on foot. *Cons:* It costs 4 euros an hour between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to park your car at the hotel. There is a day pass that's cheaper (28.60 a day). You can park for 6 euros if you're willing to walk over a kilometer. (Ask at the desk.) It's better not to bring a car into Amsterdam in the first place. You can walk or take mass transit or rent a bike instead. The best way to get to the hotel from the airport for one person is the Connexion bus outside the airport terminal. But for three or four persons, it's cheaper to take a taxi, which is also the fast way. If you do bring a car, be sure to have a working GPS system along. You can rent one where you rent your car. The hotel is noisy. Jets fly right overhead when landing or taking off. The windows rattle from the wind, sometimes waking you from a sound sleep. Occupants of neighboring rooms can be heard in the halls and through the walls. Internet costs 10 euros a day. The rooms are a bit shabby. The stairways are steep and long. There is an elevator for taking your luggage to and from your room, but it barely holds two persons. Over all, the hotel is not bad for the price for Amsterdam but next time we'll stay in Edam or somewhere else outside the city limits.

Best value in Amsterdam. Near the museums, and two blocks from the tram. We got upgraded to a larger room at no additional cost because we had more bags. Staff wonderful---let us use their computer to make reservations for the Anne Frank house. Also helped with directions around the city. Right near the major park---peaceful and roomy (for European standards)

This is an overpriced bed and breakfast without the breakfast being included in the price. The single room was like an awful student accommodation for £130 Eu/night, without any airconditioning in the July heatwave. There were two saving graces: the only member of staff available was very friendly; and the accommodation was close to the Park. Although it was very noisy all night, it gave an interesting insight into modern Amsterdam life.

Small hôtel, comfortable and very silent. A very nice view over the Vondelpark where people are running or riding a bike day and night. You will be charged an additional 12 €/person for break fast and local taxes are not included. Count about 25 minutes to reach the Rijksmuseum on foot, or about 10 minutes if you take the tram which can take you to Central Station in about 30 minutes. Finally, I would recommend this hotel for its charm and quietness.

I stayed in a triple room. It was nothing special at all but it was spacious, cosy and comfortable. It also had nice views of the vondel park. The lady at the reception was very helpful however if you need anything after 8pm there's nobody to assist you. The villa is a bit far from the center but you can easily reach the center by tram and the stop is only 2 mins away. It was by far one of the cheapest accommodation in Amsterdam and it still exceeded my expectations therefore I would definitely go back.

Borgmann Villa could be a good choice: good location in quiet neighbourhood, small building in one house: But... rooms are very small too and service does barely exist form the minimalistic personal: One, who starts working at 8 a.m. Breakfast is poor (one kind of bread, few slices of ham and cheese, two kinds of marmelade) and not served before 8.20 a.m. and you need to order it in advance, otherwise you wait even more time. I would not come back again: there seems to be no interest in maintanance and service: it gives you the impression of beeing abandoned.

The hotel is located in a quite street in a quite neighbourhood near Vondelpark. It is not far from tram 2 (about 300 meters). The room & bathroom were spacious enough for us. The staff was multi-lingual (Dutch, English and Russian were the languages we heard them use). We were given city maps and general information. There were coupons for many attarctions available at the desk. The front-desk staff was not always available at the mentioned hours (including the breakfast's starting time). The cleaning staff forgot to clean our room in one of the days we stayed. Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel and would probably come back.

The room was not so clean - behind the double curtains there was lot of dust on the wall and I had to clean a mirror myself. The hotel is in and old house in a beautiful and quiet location, next to the Vondelpark. The continental breakfast is expensive at 12 Euros per person. We always had breakfast in a small café less than 10 minutes on foot. The parking in front of the hotel is extremely expensive - 32 Euros per day. Beware if they suggest to park at the Olympic stadium for 6 Euros per day. I left the car four days and it cost 116 Euros. I didn't know that it is Park and Ride. To pay 6 Euros, you have to buy tram tickets and I was told so only upon leaving. The hotel being in a quiet neighbourhood occupied by office space, I believe I could have left the car in front of the hotel like another customer for free and without paying a cent.

it was a really nice quite area, view on the vondelpark. The hotel room was nice, but a little dusty and bathroom could be better cleaned, shower gel provided with a bad smell. Our room was on the 3rd floor, and the lift was not warking during the night because of the noise (from 10pm till 8am you can only use the steps....that are holland steps!!) The entrance and reception little, with too much smoke's smell to be non smoking areas. Breakfast, 12€ per person, was poor and we did not take it.It was my 3rd time in Amsterdam, and I think will come again... not in this hotel.

Location is in a residential area as noted, so it is very quiet. Does not take long to get to town via tram. A bit difficult to find....getting off at the stops is correct, but head right into residential area and you will see the street sign, if you get off at the first stop it is the street where the park and the lake are.....keep going a few blocks, pass the British Consulate..probably another 2 blocks. The guy that greeted us was a real pill. He miscalculated the tax by 10 Euros too high, and then told me if I did not like the tax I could find another hotel. I had no problem with the tax, I was just trying to make sure I understood it, and the amoutn seemed too high for 12% and I was right. He was miffed that I wanted to pay cash and not guarantee on a credit card. The gentleman and lady that were there when I checked out with much nicer. The room was charming....basic European but nice. Area is nice and quiet. room is a little warm, no air conditioning. Probably could have found something closer to town, that was as good, for the same price if I had organized a little earlier, but if I was in Amsterdam I would stay again, and just deal with the reception. Nice park nearbye....one good cafe right by the tram area. Did not seem to have many guests when we stayed. Really tiny lift

This hotel is located by the big park, so the area is very quiet and beautiful. You can also walk from the tram stop easily. The room is old, especially bathroom wasn't so clean. The lift doesn't work in the early morning and late evening, it's good for sleeping but inconvenient. The staff were very kind and gave me a lot of information.

Hotel is located in a lovely residential neighbourhood; starting from it in the morning and returning to it in the evening is a pleasure. At the same time, reaching main points of interest is a matter of a short, easy tram ride. Breakfast is downright basic, but it is worthwhile to take it at least once for the pleasant dining room overlooking Vondel Park. Hotel owners are friendly and I thank them for good advice on cultural attractions. Arriving by tram (#2), get off at Valerius Plein, turn right and follow Emmalaan to the corner of Koningslaan. If you are a lover of music, do not miss a concert at the great hall of the Concertgebouw with its fabulous acoustics.

I booked a double room but got a twin and when I asked reception for a double I was told the hotel doesn't have any doubles only twin rooms. This is completely misleading on the website. The location is excellent, quiet and close to tram so easy to get to/from. Breakfast was not available when I wanted it at 7.30 - 8am even though hotel states breakfast available from those times. This is really a guest house with no reception available early/late or food available early but comfortable, quiet and lovely neighbourhood. Minibar was empty!

This was an amazing hotel for the money in a very quiet neighborhood. No problem being a tourist. The tram stop was just a few minutes walk away. Only problem was we had a fridge but it wasn't plugged in. Luckily it was cold enough to put our groceries on the balcony. I will go back there if I'm ever in Amsterdaam again.

We were on our honeymoon and Hotel Borgmann Villa made sure we had a room with a balcony looking over Vondel Park as a surprise. It is very close to the tram stop and easy and quick to get into the city. For the price, it was an amazing deal. You are right on the park and can walk to the city center and museums (about a 15 minute walk thru the park). Our room was a bit small, but the balcony made up for it and though our bed was two double beds pushed together, it was like having a king size bed and they were very comfortable beds to boot. Definitely recommend this hotel!

A very nice small hotel for a short stay in Amsterdam. It's a bit out of the center but easy to reach from the tram station by a short walk, and situated in a pleasant leafy area right next to Vondelpark. We enjoyed the Borgmann Villa very much. The room was large and lovely and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, and we loved the location right on the Vondelpark. We weren't interested in paying 12 Euros for the cold buffet breakfast, but after reading that you can pay to just have coffee, tea or juice in the nice dining room, we enjoyed that. One caveat: we found the directions given by the hotel from the tram stop confusing, due to curving streets and construction blockages. But that's partly because we missed the first choice of stops because we were still learning the tram system.

Very enjoyable stay at the Borgmann Villa. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location in a quiet, pleasant residential area right across from beautiful Vondel park. A couple of kilometers from the city center, but a short walk from the #2 tram line that goes there. There is a lift. I was on the 4th floor. Yes, the room was quite small (even by European standards), but the price was reasonable and who comes to Amsterdam to spend a lot of time in the room? Although small, the room was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, with plenty of hot water All in all, very happy with the hotel and the Venere process. Would highly recommend to those who prefer/don't mind being outside the city center.

With four girls in one room (a triple with an extra cot), we paid hostel prices for hotel service: nice clean beds made every day, a bathroom with a good shower, and a helpful owner. Know that the hotel's in a very quiet neighborhood outside of downtown, so you can't just stumble out of a coffeeshop and into your bed. 20 minute walk from Leidseplein, or 5 min tram ride.

We had a view of Vondelpark out of the window. Good restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk. The SW entrance to Vondelpark is 1 minute around the corner. We walked to the central train station in about 30 minutes so basically you are not far from anything. Staff spoke English and was very helpful with questions regarding the city and activities. Charming small hotel situated in a quiet but cosmopolitan part of Amsterdam a stone's throw from the Vondelpark and close to tram links into the city centrr. Rooms were spacious and well furnished - heating was quite high although going in winter, this wasn't a problem. Bathroom fine although the shower was only OK. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only potential downside of the hotel is the lack of eating facilities - no evening meal and the breakfast is incredibly basic. However, there are plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby, so this wasn't a major issue for us. Definitely a good pick if you want to stay somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of the centre of Amsterdam but within easy reach of it.

They said the key would be under the mat because I was arriving late. It wasn't. My shower was full of someone else's hair when I arrived and they didn't even have cleaning solutions *I* could use to clean it (when I offered because no cleaning people were there and I needed to get ready for a meeting)! They didn't even give me a discount or breakfast or anything. The room was like a closet. No space even to hang long clothes or anything -- just small enough for me to lie down in a bed for one person. It was shocking.

This hotel was far away from the central district. We were very concerned about returning to the hotel before the trams quit running -- it would have been a long walk. Also, the lift shuts down at 10:30 pm and you have to climb the stairs. While it was in a residential area and relatively quiet from traffic noise you did have the neighborhood barking dogs. There was no air conditioning to the third floor room so the windows had to remain open for cool air. The breakfast room was delightful. I thought the 10EUR were a bit high for breakfast that was complimentary at other hotels we stayed at in Europe. For someone interested in the nightlife of Amsterdam I would not recommend this hotel.

Beatiful location right by the park but its a 30min walk to to anything worth seeing. A very nice walk through the park though. It is much easier to take there simply public trans. However, the rooms are very small and not spacious. So don't bring alot of bags. Parking is 12 euro a day and if you don't wake up before eight thirty in the morning you could get a ticket for 65 euro like i did. But the hotel staff helped me get out of it. Which was nice. The hotel is really a nice place to stay as long as you are ok with small rooms. We loved the staff and location.

We asked for a double bedroom and we got 2 twin beds next to each other and kindly covered by a thick blanket that hided to our eyes the fact that each bed had its own linen set. No good thing for a couple! I'd say the only thing in this place worth mentioning is the location, if you love green parks and if you don't mind 7 minutes walking to the next tram stop. The rest is really average-ish.

We stayed at this hotel based on comments from Venere.com clients and were glad we did. The hotel is in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood just a 5 minute walk from the Emmastraat trampstom (tram #2), which is but a 2 minute tramride to the Rijksmuseum and a 5 minute tramride to the Leidseplein. The lady at the front desk was very kind and accommodating. The triple room was spacious and clean, the bathroom also large and clean; just perfect for a 3-person family. We didn't stay for breakfast, and so cannot comment on the food. Given the price of other establishments in Amsterdam, this was good value for money. Would stay there again.

for what i paid the rooms were tiny and it was very far away from the center of town. on the map it showed it being very close and it really wasn't. also compared to other hotels of the same rating and price, this hotel does not compare at all.

This was a great place to stay to avoid the high prices of staying in the downtown area. It was a short walk from a tram stop and the parking costs were reasonable. It was also very quiet. I would stay there again.

This was a little bit further out than we thought, maybe a 15 min walk from Leidseplein Square (nice walking through the Vondlepark though!). There is a tram stop about 2 mins walk from the hotel (No 2 line, Valeriusplein is the name of the stop, the stop after Emmastraat). This takes about 15 mins from Centraal Station. The hotel itself was excellent, very quiet, reasonable room size and good toilet with bath and shower. We can't comment on the breakfast because we always went out. Steep stairs to the room (as in all older houses in Amsterdam) but there is a lift which can just hold 2 people plus cases if you need it. We would go back if we wanted to stay in this area again, but probably would try and get something nearer the Leidseplein area because it is the hub for most of the things that you would want to do in Amsterdam.

The location was perfect. On nice days we could take a 20 minute walk through the park to get to the walking streets, but we were also conviently located on a tram line. The park also had many nice cafe's for breakfast and coffee (the hotel was to expensive for what was offered) The staff was very helpful and we felt comfortable staying there. If I went back, I would book this hotel.

The hotel is well located and has a quite surounding but not too much taxi drivers or people know where it is located. Hard to find! The multitask=multiuser employee at the reception does a superb job at the kitchen, night watch, toruist guide, clerk and janitor! Do you ever thought about having somebody else to help him?

It's a nice place, just a bit out of town. It is difficult to get there with the night service. We had to walk back at night. Venere guys: the question "type and number of rooms" is ridiculous, I didn´t count or inspected them.

Very nice hotel, very very quiet, in a superb amsterdam area, very posh. You have the Vondel Park which is just behind the hotel, so you feel like being in the country side. People very nice and professional, very clean, room very spacious... Now I have my address where to stay in Amsterdam.

A bit dowdy and worn around the edges but basically a pleasant joint. Just on the edge of Vondel Park--and next to the heavily guarded British Embassy--it's in a very quiet and tree lined part of town. If its summer and your windows are open however Vondel Park can be a noisy party destination for Amsterdam's youth--so bring ear plugs just in case. the staff is super nice but teh breakfasts are lame--definitely not worth the 10 euros. The Bagels and Beans about 10 minutes walk away offers much better fare as do any number of cafes in the Beverly Hills of Amsterdam just up the street. All in all not a bad place.

I can recommend this hotel to everyone who wants a quit and very friendly hotel in the center of Amsterdam near the famous Vondel Park. The rooms are large, and the one we had has a beautiful view of the park. We could also hear the birds sing in the morning! The hotel is close to Tram Line number 2 who goes to the Central Station by the Leidsplain.

We had a triple room, and so it may have been more spacious than others. The staff was very helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet and attractive sectionof Amsterdam, with Vondel Park directly behind it. Our room had large windows with a view of the park. It was an easy tram ride to museums and to the city center. The local neighborhad has a wide variety of reasonably price restaurants. We'd definitey stay there again.

Borgmann Villa is one of the finest small hotels in Europe! I have stayed there twice and have never been disappointed. The site is very accessible to the Trolley Line 2, and the location on a quiet street on the Vondel Park is superb. By all means, be sure to have a least one breakfast in the very comfortable dining parlor overlooking the Park. This is a charming CLASSIC hotel with a friendly staff. The rooms are EXCEPTIONALLY large and modern. But PLEASE don't tell too many people - we hope that it remains a well-kept secret! :-)

Amsterdam is an expensive city to find hotels in, and this is a nice one for the price. It is a bit far from the center of the city, but right near a tram line. You can also take a 20 min walk through the park, which is lovely, but after a long day, this isn't as appealing and I recommend taking the tram or a cab. The rooms were a bit small, but clean. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and nice, she even stayed an hour late to check us in on Friday night since we took a late train. It is in a nice residential section and the views of vondelpark are quite nice. Yes, the breakfast room has a nice view, but no way is the breakfast worth 10 euro. It's only cereal and a few breads, nothing special. I recommend the pancake place that is a block or so straight outside the entrance to vondelpark.

This is a lovely hotel in a suburban area of Amsterdam. It is on the (main) tram line #2; having said that, it is right beside Vondelpark, and we enjoyed the daily 15-minute walk through Vondelpark to reach the start of the city centre (near Leidseplein). The rooms were perfectly clean and a decent size. I would stay at the Borgmann Villa again.

The location is very pleasant, just next to Vondelpark, where one can walk and spend time. Although a bit far from the center its a quick journey by tram, and it's an easy walk through the park to the zone of the Rijksmuseum. One of the ladies at the reception was very friendly and helpful, but the other was not so nice. We had a problem with a phone call that they claimed we had made, which was not true, but they were unable to detail the date, time or destination number, so we refused to pay. Also be aware that local taxes are not always included in the price quoted at Venere, so check in advance.

A very nice, friendly, small hotel in a pleasant location overlooking Vondelpark, a couple of minutes' walk from the tram stop (line 2). The (Russian) staff were very welcoming and helpful and created a friendly atmosphere in the place. We were perhaps unfortunate in having a room over the front entrance which meant that there was a bit of street noise (although the area is not busy) and we were awakened a couple of times by late-returning guests letting themselves in (or attempting to!). Not the hotel's fault, of course - and I'm sure the rooms at the rear, overlooking the garden, would be totally quiet. We didn't have breakfast - since there are nice cafes nearby where one could breakfast quite cheaply, but the breakfast room looked very inviting, with a lovely view of the garden. We should have tried it at least once. All in all, this was very good value for a nicely situated small hotel in a safe, quiet area with easy access to the city centre.

Vivamente consigliato. In a really good location, next to Vondelpark, near by the tram stop, good neighbourhood, 10 mnts walk from Leidseplein. Hotel Borgmann Villa is a superb accommodation in a residential area along Vondel Park, convenient to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijkmuseum, and accessible to Trolley line #2 (Emma Straat stop) that will also take you to the Leidesplein, Magna Plaza, and Centraal Station in minutes. It is only a few doors away from the British Consulate (although as a Yank, that didn't help me!). The rooms are modern and clean. You'll really enjoy the view of the park from the lovely dining room as you eat breakfast (additional E10 per person). I would especially recommend it to the return visitor who may not want to be in the hustle of "centrum" city, but who still wants easy access. On the way in, I did hire a cab to take us from Centraal Station with our luggage, but I had to guide the driver to the locale. We returned via the trolley without problem.

We stayed two nights at the Borgmann Villa hotel. In general, we were quite happy with the hotel. The welcoming was by far the best that I've ever had in any hotel; the lady at the reception was extremely nice and friendly and gave us a lot of helful information for tourism in our short stay. The room was quite OK, everything very clean. The hotel is located in a residential area very quiet: the only problem is that you need to take the tramway to get to the city center (Line 2, Valerius Plein stop, around 15 min. to Central Station). The price was in my opinion a bit high, but ALL the hotels in Amsterdam are in fact really expensive. We would go back to this hotel if we'd return to Amsterdam.
