We reserved a room for 4 people and the picture displayed in the internet was of a spacious room, but the one we got was so small we could hardly move. The hotel never changed our towels even if we left them on the floor and only once took our garbage out. The lights were terrible, one of the beds was on the floor. Although the hotel was far from the center and was best to take a bus, the hotel was in front of a big and nice park and the surroundings were quiet.

We stay for 2 nights. it's quite reasonable price with its quality, also very near to tram although it takes 20 minute from central station and its surrounding is very good, near to Van goh museum so overall we are very pleasant staying here.

We were not greeted with an ounce of any kind of civility. We were checked in by the receptionist who was more intent on getting our payment upfront for the room(sight unseen!)& city tax. If you have a Internet booking ensure you have a copy of this. The room was on the ground floor as I had pre-requested & confirmed as stairs are both narrow and steep. In the Breakfast room on Level 1 on each of the 3 mornings, most tables had not been cleared of dirty dishes & food (continental breakfast) was not replenished, so it was 1st in best dressed! Our double room & ensuite did not possess one single power point other than for television which was high up on a wall, this required us to stack a coffee table on top of a cupboard which we dragged from the bedside to access. There was no tea & coffee facilities. The mattress on the bed was about 6" too small on both sides of the base! The Blankets had holes in them & where threadbare. Their were only orange worn plastic drinking cups in the bathroom -when we asked for some glasses we were told that glasses break in rooms, but we took them anyway from the breakfast room & informed them that we were not children! There was no overhead lighting, only 3 small lamps on walls with low watt globes. All the receptionists were equally detached and uninterested in any kind of communication with guests - in fact they purposely put down their heads behind the front desk when people entered the hallway so they could not make any kind of eye contact or be required to engage in any conversation with guests! They gave us the wrong information about parking our hire vehicle all day as the meter required a resident card to access the "B" menu to print out a day ticket - 11.5 Euro per day otherwise it was around 2.2 Euro an hour. The booking included free Wi Fi, however this was not working & after repeated attempts including informing them that we were required to check-in on line & print boarding passes they just continued to ignore us

This hotel was a good value as a budget hotel, given its location with respect to the city center (a convenient 10 minute tram ride away). Breakfast was good and the facilities were modest but clean and well functioning. Staff was courteous. The only improvement I could see needed was better wireless internet signal strength beyond the lobby. It did not seem to reach guest rooms, forcing guests to take their laptops into the lobby or breakfast room.

Situated in a nice area, the hotel was about 8 minutes walk to the No. 2 tram stop for the centre of Amsterdam. The Van Googh and the Rijks museums were about 25 minutes walk. Upon our arrival at the hotel payment had to be made immediately which was a surprise as Venere state that payment is not made until the point of departure. This has always been so at other hotels booked through Venere.com. Breakfasts were charged in addition to the price quoted, whereas at the time of booking they were included in the price. Nobody saw fit to advise us of this change before our arrival. On the hotel’s website breakfast was said to be available between 8:00 to 11:00am at the time of booking and is still quoted as these times. However, on descending for breakfast the following morning at 9:15am we found there to be no table available in the breakfast room, it not being large enough for the quantity of guests . . . we went out for breakfast. The following morning we descended for breakfast earlier. However, some other guests who came down for breakfast at 9:25am were told that breakfast time was between 7:30 and 9:30am and were turned away!!! Beware, if you are elderly, or a bit frail, the staircases in the hotel are vey steep and with very narrow treads, particularly those to the second floor. There is no lift and no offer from reception to help with heavy suitcases. The bathroom had no soap or shampoo, just a soap dispenser, which was empty and remain so for the duration of our five day stay, despite a note advising of the fact being left. There is no luggage storage area. We had a late flight on day of departure and our suitcases had to be left in the open in the reception area. Generally, staff seemed disinterested.

Nice and charming hotel in a smart residential area near the main museums well served by tram, but the room was small and a little dark. However, we would stay there again!

We (family members 64, 39, 11) stayed in Amsterdam 3 days. We are frequent and experienced travellers. Upon the arrival we had to pay for our stay. As far as we have experienced in hotels all over Europe,it is highly irregular to pay in advance and before you have inspected your room. In fact, Our triple room turned out to have many defects., but luckily, it was possible to give us another room. Furthermore, Venere had stipulated a total amount for the room. However, to this amount was added 20 euro for various fees. A total amount quoted should be the total amount to pay.

The recepionist was very unpleasant! The bathroom was very small and the shower was too high for us. We can't move it!

I felt a little disappointed when I realized that the clean service didn't work at all. Our room was never cleaned and we had to ask for the towels replacement. Breakfast was good and the better thing is the location. Other negative point was that we were asked to pay first without seeing the room in advance....

Nice street, room was quiet, breakfast quite enough, stairs too narrow and no internet access. Walking distance to Van Gogh's museum and Rijksmuseum. Suitable for youngsters.

Location, location, location. The Apple Inn is located in a quiet residential area. That being said, the local Tram line runs right down the street in front of the hotel and the stop is a short block down the street. So you have peace and quiet in your room for sleeping (why else are you in your room except to sleep?) and yet just hop on the tram and in a few short minutes you are in the Centrum where there is tons of stuff to see and do. It is also very close (walking distance) to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijs.... Museum. After ten days in Italian hotels that were more expensive and yet had 2' by 2' showers, the small but adequate shower facilities seemed expansive by comparison. Our ground floor room opened up to a very private and cute patio area. Beware the second floor. Very steep and narrow stairs and no elevator. I would definitely stay there on my next trip to Amsterdam.

Our 'nonsmoking' room smelled quite strongly of stale smoke, accented by the ashtray on the bedroom table. The mattress was very poor quality: no springs, just smelly foam. The hotel did not tell us beforehand about their 2% surcharge for credit card payment, and did not mention that their quoted room rates did not include tax. They also refused to accommodate an early departure time, meaning we were not able to eat the breakfast that we paid for in the room rate (and they wouldn't give us a discount to reflect this). Overall, we found the hotel to be very disappointing and the service to be very inflexible and unaccommodating. We would not recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Although our triple room was a tad bit smaller than the photo on the website appeared, it was bigger than a comparable room we had in London, as well as being more attractive and having more comfortable accommodations. The breakfast room is quite nice as was the food provided on the buffet, and I was even able to borrow an iron and a power converter from the front desk to meet our needs. The staff helped me make a dinner reservation and checked the train times for our departure online. The location is great with the #2 tram running up and down the street, accessing practically all of the sites we wanted to see as well as the central station. My main complaint is that there is no luggage closet available so that luggage for early arrivals and late departures clutters up the reception area and is generally unsecured.

This hotel has 2 stars but is really a nice 3 star hotel. We had a concert in Vondel park and this hotel is located very close to it. It was a special celebratory weekend for us and therefore making the right choice was extra important. We certainly weren't disappointed. The hotel was to a very good standard, and the location was perfect and much nicer than I had imagined. We were pleasantly surprised by the very, very friendly and helpful staff. Our rooms were all on the ground floor and very adequate for the price paid, and the standard of cleanliness was top rate. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with sufficient choice to suit every taste, and (a first in my experience of hotel catering) perfect boiled eggs and really fresh orange juice. All in all, Amsterdam has made a great first impression (with lots still to see) and the Apple Inn Hotel made a great base from which to explore it. I really can recommend this hotel!

Apple Inn was a very nice place to stay - we particularly enjoyed the breakfast, and the helpfulness of staff in terms of quickly fixing a broken showerhead for us, and pointing us in the direction of an electrical shop where we purchased a voltage converter. However, there was a mix-up when we arrived that contributed to some stress on our vacation. We had booked and canceled a previous 3-person room, and then booked a 4-person room 2 weeks prior to our arrival; however, the staff only had record of our original 3-person room booking and cancellation. Fortunately, they still had a 4-person room available, but we were initially distressed when they indicated that they had no record of our booking a 4-person room.
