Friendly and knowledgeable staff that go above and beyond to make you feel at home and enjoy your stay. Beautiful location in a clean, residential area right on the regal Herengracht canal. Many major sights, great shopping, and wonderful restaurants are within a short walking distance. Bus stop is a couple blocks away for longer excursions. Would return in a heartbeat.

A beautiful hotel in a great location. The room was lovely and the staff very helpful. Our room overlooked the canal and was a wonderful view - the only slight drawback is that the windows are pretty thin and you could hear outside noises. The good thing is that there wasn't much traffic. Overall it was a GREAT!

We were pleased in every way with this hotel. The highly professional staff runs the hotel perfectly. The location is simply the best spot in Amsterdam -- right on the lovely inner ring of the canals. It is quiet and serene, yet there are restaurants, boutiques and shops right around the corner. We had breakfast there everyday in a lovely formal dining room. At first we thought we would economize and eat a lighter breakfast around the corner, but it really proved to be a delightful way to start the day, sitting in a lovely window next to the canal and enjoying a full hot and cold buffet. Amsterdam is full of life and people (on bicycles)everywhere. It was good to have a very welcoming hotel to which to retreat. We stayed there 6 nights.

Our room was a deluxe room, newly renovated, with a great view of the canal. We had both dinner and breakfast in the hotel and we were really satisfied with the quality of the food. The location is great. The only issue we had was the lack of wireless connection in our room.

I visited Amsterdam for 3 nights with my teenage daughter (visiting museums etc). Found the Ambassade to be a very nice hotel in an excellent location. We felt very safe going out at night and there were good places to eat nearby. We walked everywhere. The hotel staff were brilliant - extremely friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room and maybe we were lucky in that respect - I only saw the room we had. We also were fortunate to get a special deal - the hotel would be a bit expensive for us normally.

I was there something like 19 years ago and found it a very nice boutique hotel! Afte such a time I have visited Amsterdam again and, despite other suggestion, I strongly wanted to go to the Ambassade hotel. Unlucky me! The hotel is almost the same of 20 years ago. Only new thing: wifi connection. Besides, the are renewing (at last) a side of the hotel, so you cannot imagine what means work in progress inside an hotel, even if the staff tryed to do their best to prevent any noise. S.O. advise me when the hotel will be competely renewd!

Superbly located hotel! even cab driver mentioned that hotel had one of best locations. Top notch staff. Outstanding breakfast room and library Hotel is going thru some remodeling but noise doesnt start until 10AM (at least when we were there)so if you like to sleep-in late ck. with hotel to get update of remodeling. Stayed at room with canal view (winter rate) if you can, try to reserve room with view, totally worth it!

I stayed two nights. This hotel locates on canal and convenient place for city sightseeing. The hotel is a little bit old and narrow, has some steps but I was satisfied with good scenery from windows and furniture with atmosphere. I stayed there during 'SAIL AMSTERDAM 2010', it was noisy around the hotel, even at the midnight. The hotel staff took good care of me. They told me that I should better buy the Gogh-museum ticket at the hotel to avoid wasting time(I saw a long line to buy a ticket in front of the museum). And they told taxi driver not to ask extortionate taxi fare. I enjoyed AMSTERDAM very much, and I'm sure this hotel is one of the best hotel to stay in AMSTERDAM.

Nice and clean hotel room, but getting to the room was like walking through a labyrith. No Minibar in the room. Otherwise, we had a gread stay, and would recommend the hotel to anyone except people with disabilities.

The hotel is great if you have a canal view room. My room was not canal view and was therefore a bit overpriced, I think. Service is excellent and the area around the hotel is excellent also. There was lots of noise from other guests and cleaning staff in the hallways in the morning.

We were pleased with our room, the staff and service. Breakfast could be better for the cost. The staff fails to refer guests to an excellent restaurant (de Admiraal) which is only a few steps to the right when leaving the hotel. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Unique property consisting of 8 to 10 merchant canal-houses linked together to form a mid-size hotel. Interior design is a consistent creative mix of antiques and shine throughout rooms and public spaces. Multi-lingual staff are professional, knowledgable and friendly. Convenient location close to several good restaurants, sights and transportation. Breakfast offered at the hotel is excellent.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better - on the canal side with superb views. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were very professional, nice and attentive to our needs. The room we had was of a high standard of cleanliness and decoration if a little on the small side. I was quite dissapointed to discover the old 'split' double bed (2 singles pushed together) not sure if this is the case for all the rooms. Breakfast was expensive but there are plenty of lovely places nearby to get this. Overall a lovely hotel.

We had Rm 60, garden level, pvt entrance, very spacious for European hotels and a huge recently renovated modern bathroom. Don't know if other rooms are as expansive or luxurious, but this one really made our stay! Occasional street noise, but very minor. Staff was accommodating and informative--everyone spoke English.

A good, clean friendly hotel in a great location. Room, however, was tiny with very small windows- 3 of which were facing a wall about 6 inches away! Rather claustrophobic and cramped. Not suitable for a special or luxurious trip for this reason and overpriced for the quality of the room we received.

The Ambassade offered the best bed we have ever slept in at a hotel property. The initial room where we were booked was lovely. The room overlooked a canal and was on an upper floor. We were able to stay 2 nights and enjoyed the room. We were to leave on the next day, but were delayed due to weather. The hotel was able to find us another room on property (excellent service there!) - and although the room was larger in square footage, and cost more, it was on ground level and the street noise was very disturbing. When we come again to this hotel - and we will - we will ask for an upper story room.

Great little hotel, and very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Everyone is very friendly. The location is prime - central to everything, but still far enough from the noise to rest and relax. The hotel is right on a canal and in a great neighborhood.
