A charming hotel about 1/4 mile from the center of town. This is a plus as it it was quiet. There is a main patio where breakfast is served and a patio right outside our room; both had the same beautiful view. Staff not always on hand and no Internet service. We would go there again.

A really unique accommodation, close to town. The main terrace is nice and the room well kept. I would recommend they use nicer towels and pillows, but otherwise we liked our room. Don't expect views of Amalfi from your room , but there are alot of terraces. And yes, when coming by car, you have to drive up a narrow street thru town and lots of people. But it's a hoot! We would stay here again. Nice place for one night or so. Don't miss going up to the town of Ravello, it's charming and close.

Wonderful hotel; very welcoming and helpful staff; nice, quiet, clean and spacious room (ginestra); great view. We had a wonderful time and cannot imagine a better place to stay in Amalfi or anywhere on the coast. Only but: it's not that easy to find - if you arrive by car, don't hesitate driving right into the only street in the city center, even though it looks like pedestrians only. drive right through until you think you have left the town (signs say b&b lara/relais analara). leave the car in front of the Hotel's gate (it is forbidden to park, but you can leave it for a short while) and the reception will arrange for the garage to have it picked up. We thought we could find a parking space on our own, but there is no place anywhere in the narrow streets! It is not actually far from the city center, very easy walking distance to the shops and beach. Our tip: we found we did not really need our car. You can take boats or busses to all interesting places along the coast and in most cases parking is completely impossible in the nice little towns anyway.

Hotel Annalara was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The views were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Amalfi was full of hidden treasures and our whole stay on the Amalfi coast was fantastic. Although Villa Annalara is very high up don't be put off as there is a lift so there are only a few steps to deal with and the staff are more than happy to do the lifting of luggage. The hotel is approx. 10 minutes walk from the bus stop but not too steep to walk and very easy to find. I would happily recommend this hotel.

Oh, those stairs! Even with the lift, there were 56 steep stairs to our room. We were returning from a cruise and had quite a bit of luggage, so it made it rather difficult. View is mostly over rooftops to the sea, but the grounds are lovely!

Beautiful room, great location. It was a great experience. One note of warning: Ad says internet plug in every room. That means there's a phone jack in room. There is NO wireless internet in town of Amalfi. To use dialup, you will need to know your internet provider's phone no. to use with dialup. There is an internet point down the hill where you can use their computers for a small fee. AnnaLara was a very nice place, and at a good price.

10 minute walk from port (we took the ferry from Positano) or bus stop. We had a great 2-night stay, rode the bus to Ravello, had great lunches and dinners, left on bus to Salerno. Very accomodating - had to leave early Mon. and got a wake-up knock and coffee. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely. Largest bathroom and shower in Italy!!

The hotel itself is not too far from the Marina - maybe 10-12mins walk. Useful to know when you're tired, with heavy luggage and don't know your way around. Fortunately the walk is not steep. On on arrival the main receptionist was already waiting by the gate so in that sense it made it easy to find...you have the option of the lift or the stairs up to the hotel at the top of the hill. When I had the energy, I preferred the stairs - even if that was quite a bit of exercise. Beautiful views over Amalfi once you are at the top - great little veranda where you have breakfast. Breakfast was standard for what you find in Italian hotels. The staff were always helpful, friendly and polite. Our room was one of the three at the top - which took me by surprise because it had more of a chalet feel to it, because of the shape and the decor - but the bathroom was very modern and luxury shower and lovely blue/white traditional tiling. Downside was our neighbour had a young child - so occcassionally you could hear him screaming. There is free internet access. (I'm still confused if Annalara is actually 2 hotels or just 1 - because there's Villa Annalara and Hotel Annalara and just Annalara - depending on which website you look, but the pictures appear to be the same?) Amalfi is beautiful (I feel in love with it! Especially when the daytrippers disappear), I would have loved to have stayed an extra day and have been able to enjoy it at a more lazy pace...we used Amalfi more as a base to explore the rest of the coast and then make our way to Salnero to get back to Rome and then home. The bus journey along the coast is breathtakingly wonderful -- but also heart-stopping at times because of the narrow roads so close to the cliff edges...Distance wise it's not far from Sorrento to Salnero, but because of the small winding road, it does take time...and do avoid it at rush hour! My favourite places: Amalfi, Ravello and Positano - and Capri once you are up the hill.

This one is as good as hotel. I would like to stay here again!! It was very sweet. It might quite far from SITA bus stop, but it's nothing. The hotels near the coast are very expensive and noisy at night. We walked 10 mins with heavy luggage from bus stop, it was okay to get there. BEAUTIFUL place!!

Wonderful stay, beautiful location, comfy beds. Breakfast was good (pastry, buns, meat, cheese, yogurt, juice, etc), owner showed us a great hike up the mountain to Ravello, willing to arrange trips to Pompeii or Capri. Very helpful. Enjoyed our stay here.

We had a memorable stay at this wonderful little hotel. The staff were very helpful, arranging for the car to be parked, booking the ferry to Capri and the tour for pompei and vesuvios and recommending good local restaurants. Our room on the third floor exceeded expectations with bathroom and wide terrace with unbroken view of the sea. Lingering over breakfast on the room terrace was a very special experience. We very much hope to be able to return.

I just got home from a wonderful trip to the Amalfi Coast. I stayed at Hotel Villa Annalara and I highly recommend it. The hotel was very very clean. breakfast was perfect -- excellent capaccinos, good location, beautiful terrace (i stayed in room Edera), but most of all is the staff ---they all were so helful especially Salvatore -- he is the men at the front desk who will helped us with everything we needed. All of her restaurant recommendations were great -- he was very honest with prices and food. He makes you feel right at home the second you walk in the door. Thank you Villa Annalara for the wonderful stay at your hotel Much Love, Zoe

Great location, a quiet cliff overlooking Amalfi. Warm welcome, very helpful staff. Top espresso Christian! Guests have to walk 400m up the main street past the waterfalls on the LEFT (not right as on the website) to find the gate and lift, but otherwise this one is a pearl.

This setting of this hotel is wonderful. It is high atop a hill with a wonderful view of the valley and Amalfi below. Considering the location the walk into town was very short and enjoyable. Breakfast was typical continental with coffee, cornetto, yogurt and some fresh fruit. Breakfast is inside at the reception area and seating is on the beautiful terrace with a fabulous view. Our room was on this terrace area which was noisy at night as this is the guest access to other rooms and the check in area. The staff was very helpful with a good command of English. I certainly would return.

The hotel was exotic which was constructed on the historical ruins and it has a best view of both city and the sea. Run by Italian family, the hotel has welcoming atmosphere, and two young Italian brothers were so helpful. In every aspects, the quality of this hotel definately exceeds three stars. I stayed there for 4 days and took a day trip to Pompei, Capri, Positano, and sorrento. Just one thing you have to be careful is parking is not free and it is impossible to find fee parking place in the city. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and I definately go back there someday.

Just returned from a fabulous stay at Villa Annalara! The photos are very accurate - the Villa is beautiful and peaceful, the rooms are very nice and spacious (by european standards) though with a lower ceiling over the bed due to the roof line, and the baths were clean and seemed freshly renovated.... Great value overall and Amalfi is a perfect base for sightseeing trips - Villa Annalara keeps you close to town for transportation options and sightseeing, yet far enough away to get a great view and a quiet night's sleep. The hotel is easy to find and not as far as it looks on the map - it's just up the main road from the water that goes past the Duomo; you'll pass through a tunnel and the hotel is on the left about a half block up, just past a little waterfall with a statue. It's only a few minutes walk from the waterfront, maybe 4-5 blocks at most, up a slighly inclined road which shouldn't be a problem for most people unless in poor physical condition or traveling with a lot of heavy luggage...There is an elevator but you will have to go up a half flight of stairs first and then turn right... Breakfast is a simple matter of a small buffet of croissants, fruit, juice, cereal and yogurt with fresh espresso made to order (definitely a treat) served on the balcony with a lovely view of the harbor - at night, with the jasmine blooming, couples will find this a romantic place to linger before going out for the evening.... There's also a sun terrace with lounge chairs, and the 3 rooms upstairs have a mini shared terraza as well... In late afternoon the sun terrace will not have direct sun, so your best bet if you plan to lay in the sun is to do so in the morning or early afternoon or else go down to the beach... Salvatore and his brother were fabulous hosts and made us feel very welcome....they had very good suggestions of where to eat, as well as where and when to sightsee (based on weather,etc)....

We went to the villa annalara for four days of rest and relaxation after a busy tour of italy. the villa was great value for money with more modern cons than most accommodation in italy in this price range. It is situated just outside the busy main shopping area and may not be for some one with dodgy legs however there is a lift provided and the views are wonderful. Salvatore (the owner) was at a wedding when we arrived but Tina (the cleaner) did a superb job with minimal english to make us feel at home. Would undoubtly rate this the best place we stayed in Italy.

Villa Analara (we stayed 8 nights) is a perfect place to stay: very charming and cosy rooms; gordious breakfast area (overlooking Amalfi and the see); very quiet, yet very close to the "city center" with lots of restaurants; charming & helpful lobby officer. One little point: it is not really advisable to bring your car to Amalfi (pretty heavy traffic on the coast road taking you ages to get somewhere, you have to mix with lots of walking people in the small shopping street to get to the hotel, little to no parking places (around the hotel as well as in every coast village). Hotel can assist you with garage, but very expensive (€ 18 per night). Conclusion: Villa Analara is a beautiful hotel (I would rather call it a bed & breakfast) and we just loved it! We would certainly return to it in case we would get back to this superb region!

Truly stunning location with spectacular views over town towards the sea. Breakfast was scrumptious- as others have said above with fresh strawberries, tomatoes, croissants and real Italian Cappuccini. Getting to the hotel takes some confidence in your map reading. Yes- you really have to drive across the main square and up the pedestrian street. When we arrived the mayor was in the middle of a speech and the square was packed but people stepped out of the way no problem. However if you are looking for a romantic, untouristy authentiv hidaway then Villa Lara is for you!
