Like in a fairy tale book. The serpentine climbs up to the ascent. The hotel is about 100 m above sea level so do not forget about the 470 steps down to the beach and the same up (It seems to be more uphill ;)). I cannot tell any other "bad" thing :) Excellent view from the balcony to the sea. Center of Amalfi is 5 min by car and 30 min on foot. It's hard to find a parking place in the city if you go late, until 9-10 I recommend the piers for parking. Buses go very frequent the stop is right at the hotel entrance door. (daytime the noise is strong by the transport but during the night eveerything is quiet). Very kind and helpful staff...we felt not only a guest but almost a member of their family. Try a walk in their lemon garden under the "pergolas"...unimaginable. Until now I saw lemons only in supermarkets :) Thanks for the wonderful experience and hospitality!

This was my first time in La Pergola and also on the Amalfi Coast and I do recommend both to everyone because the hotel is so beautiful, cosy and relaxing; convenient to reach Amalfi either by bus or on foot if you are ready to walk for 20 or 30 minutes. Although the best way to move along the coast is by car, despite the "crazy" way of driving of local people. Anyway, it is part of the experience and it is worth the "risk". Try to get a ferry. We went to Positano by bus and returned to Amalfi by ferry; the views were spectacular. Don't miss Ravello, Atrani and some of the local beaches, such as the one in Praiano, where we had two splendid dinners in "Bar Mare", following the wise advice of one of the owners of La Pergola. What are you waiting for? Andate subito!!!!

This is our 3rd stay at LaPergola. We stayed in a triple with the private terrace. It is a 10 min drive to Almafi which is fine with us. There is a restaurant in the hotel and two others within a short driving distance. We'll be back!

Great little hotel, family owned and operated, close to Amalfi (10 mins by bus which drops you at the door) Sara and Mario at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. The owner and his wife gave me a little lunch with the staff when I had an extended wait for my Sorrento transfer. Very clean and decent breakfast, no hot food though.

We were there for a wedding. It was very difficult at times to get taxi's late at night to take you back up the hill as the bus service ends at 9pm that direction. If the buses are full they will not stop to pick you up either very frustrating. Also the taxi's have no standards so be prepared to pay anywhere from 15 Euros to 25 Euros depending on the mood of the taxi driver. Found the staff of the hotel very competent and helpful with information and hard working.

What a great place to stay. Room was nice and clean, spacious, we had a balcony where we could sit and watch the buses negoiate the bends on the coast road. We left our car in the garage and caught the bus, at the front door to amalf & positano. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent

Very nice hotel. Staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel is very clean and nice, it has a bus stop just in front of it (to Amalfi). The bus ride to Amalfi is around 5 minutes and costs around 1,20 EUR. You can also walk to Amalfi, it will take around 30 minutes along the road. This is not the best option with children as the roads are quite narrow. Two beaches are very near, but if you suffer from acrophobia (as the steps down are narrow and steep) you might want to consider taking a boat from the Amalfi Port to these beaches. From Amalfi you can easily do daytrips (by ferry) to Positano, Salerno, Sorrento and Capri. Especially Capri and Positano are really nice. All in all a very nice stay here, would definately stay here again.

Very nice small hotel. The staff was extremely helpful, and the setting is delightful. One problem, if you not driving your own vehicle is public transportation. The bus is often late, fails to stop because it's full, etc. There is another local bus from Pogerola into Amalfi, but it's about 300 meters up a road with heavy traffic and no pedestrian walkway.

hotel charmingly decorated and our room had a good sized balcony with a table and chairs and a sea view. Quite a noisy road. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing an early breakfast the day we left and parking our car in the garage. Hotel is a mile from Amalfi centre but a bus stops just outside the hotel and the walk is pleasant if you are reasonably fit. Breakfast was fine but the evening meal was nothing special. Beautiful area and good value for money.

The Pergola and its staff were the best that I have experienced in a long time. It is a family run hotel and you are treated with such care every second there. Daniel the son of the owner is so helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect. There is a nice little private beach 100m from hotel and you are 5 mins away by bus to amalfi city. The bus also stops right in front of the hotel and they have a schedule so it is perfect. The hotel is extremely beautiful and most importantly exceptionally clean. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.

Staying at La Pergola was like staying at a family friend's home. The staff were professional, approachable and always went out of their way to offer help and words of advice. The location is not in the centre of Amalfi (which I personally found to be a plus as I like being removed from the throngs of tourits) but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which is great getting to and from the centre of town. It is an easy walk of 20 minutes into town which is great if you enjoy taking in the scenery. The upside to the location is that there is a little beach very close to the hotel which is quiet and beautiful if you're keen for a dip. I took advantage of the lovely 3 course homecooked meals for dinner which I strongly recommend. In my opinion, it was much better value and tastier than any of the restaurants I had eaten in the whole of Italy. I stayed in the deluxe room and had an entire balcony to myself which was lovely as there were sunbeds overlooking the ocean views. The room was extremely clean, spacious, modern and tastefully furnished. Thankyou so much to the Proto family and Sara for such an enjoyable stay! I will definitely remember this for many years to come. Do yourself a favour and book yourself in at this hotel. I can not recommend it enough!!!

Since the property is away from the central locations, it was convenient to have one bus stop just outside the B&B and another about 200 metres up the road. Very friendly folks who run the place. Great value for money. Only gripe if any, is that there is no wireless internet access, but rather a wired connection with 1 laptop. Fortunately waiting time to use it was not too long.

In conclusione, consigliatissimo a tutti!!!!

We stayed 5 days late April and had a very enjoyable time. The hotel is small, family-run and spotless. Amalfi is within walking range once you get used to the narrow roads.Restaurant only open for breakfast the days we were there, so confirm; however good eating is within walking distance. Bus stop is at the front door and service is frequent in both directions, if you arent comfortable driving. Rooms overlook road, but we did not notice road noise.Staff had good recommendations for beaches, interesting places, reasonably priced but tasty food. The area is impressive, and a high point figuratively and literally is Ravello. Take in a concert at the Villa Rufolo there, and also take a walk along the "back lane" from Hotel Belvedere to Villa Cimbra. See Capri. Skip Sorrento. Overall La Pergola was great value for reasonable price with friendly helpful innkeepers.

We were pleasantly shocked when we received our room at La Pergola. After travelling a few other European cities prior to arriving in Amalfi, we were delighted to enter what I would call a 'suite'. The room was exceptionally clean and very large; it was about 4 times the size of any of the other rooms we had stayed in. As value for money, it could not be beat. The staff were exceptional, and the view from the hotel was just wonderful. The only caution I would offer is that the location is not in the town of Amalfi - it is at the top of the hill leading into Amalfi. So be prepared for that. For us, it was no problem; the 15 minute walk into town was just lovely, and the payoff (the view) was well worth it for us. If you do not wish to walk, the bus service is great, and they stop right in front of the hotel to go into town or in the opposite direction, to explore Positano, Praiano, and all the other wonderful little cities. Amalfi was the highlight of our trip, and La Pergola was the best hotel experience we encountered.

Had never been to Amalfi before so did not know what to expect. I was very happy with the hotel. A little outside town, but suited me fine as bus stop just outside the hotel door. Room was spacious, clean and very cool. Surroundings could not have been more perfect. Ideal for couples but would probably not recommend it for children as very busy road, no pool etc. The staff were exceptional to the extent that Danielle even gave us a lift down to the town one evening as we missed the bus. Very accommodating family. Breakfast was very good and I really couldn't fault this hotel. I look forward to my next visit.

The hospitality we received during our stay at La Pergola was tops. It far exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. My daughter and I had very limited time to spend on the Amalfi coast and they pointed out the "must sees" on our short stay. We only wish we had more time to spend with them. The staff was excellent and helpful, and spoke the best English at any hotel during our stay in Italy. The rooftop lemon garden is a perfect place to have an after dinner drink. To get to the center of Amalfi you have to take a short bus ride, but the stop is right outside the door and the buses run every 20 minutes. Friendliness of all staff helped make our stay a very enjoyable one. Breakfast was good with a variety of cold choices. The room was fine with a pleasant view towards the sea, which is across the main road and down many nearby steps. The Amalfi Drive, the road outside the hotel, is busy and noisy ,but that is one reason for going to the area. It was a great experience to drive along it and get used to the local driving habits! We also used the local bus service which is reliable and cheap. It stops directly outside the hotel,so long as you put your arm out to stop it.

Short holiday (7 nights) with my wife. First visit to southern Italy. Hotel staff were excellent and welcoming. Would have been useful to know that the nearby beach was only accessible via 350 steps! Would also be useful to have known how excellent bus and boat services were as we would not have hired a car had we known. Did not realise hotel was on a busy road and therefore noisier than expected. Would have been good to know cost of evening meals and availability of half board. food in the hotel was very good. Would have been nice to have a larger reception area or public rest room.

Great place to stay run by a wonderful family. Highly recommended for a base in the Amalf areai. It is a short bus ride from town with regular and cheap service. A great option if you do not want to be in the heart of Amalfi and considerably less expensive for a very modern room. Although it is right on the manin highway from Amalfi to Positano, the noise was not too bad given the use of insulated windows. The dinner at the hotel was excellent as well.

Excellent staff. Breakfast very nice with variety. Terrace on top is wonderful, as is hotel food. Have at least one dinner there. The beach is down over 200 steps and must walk back UP to get back to hotel, or take the water taxi to Amalfi and bus back. Do NOT take a taxi from Amalfi to hotel as they will certainly rip you off. The buses stop just outside of the hotel and run every 15 minutes or so. The road outside of the hotel is noisy. The hotel staff is amazingly helpful. Wonderful hotel with a wonderful, helpful staff. We were greeted with homemade lemon sorbet, and the requirement for pre-ordering dinner was waived to accomodate our late arrival from the airport. The bus stop is right outside the front door of the hotel, and there is another bus stop for other routes about 1/4 mile up the road at the crossroad. Breakfast was very nice; as is dinner which is served upstairs on a terrace. The hotel is very new, and the rooms are spacious, airy, with high ceilings. We stayed four nights. It is important to pre-reserve parking since this is such a limited commodity all along the Amalfi coast.

The room, the service and the employees are all highly rated. The only problem was the small garage, making it nearly impossible to get in the car and drive anywhere. The employees were helpful with bus schedules, but we didn't feel up to using the bus. As a result, we stayed put in the hotel and had dinner there. We also enjoyed some afternoon wine on the terrace with a great view of the mountains and the sea. Even though we felt "stuck" there, we'd return again because it's so beautiful there.

We loved Amalfi and the surrounding area and were very happy with La Pergola. Although the hotel is approx 1 1/2kms out of town, it is perfectly situated only 100 metres from a really lovely quiet little beach, a lot nicer than the beaches in Amalfi itself. Fernanda and her staff were extremely friendly, helpful and informative and took a lot of time explaining local points of interest and making sure we were well informed regarding transport etc. Being a little out of town made our room a little quieter than a centrally placed hotel and the short walk into town each morning and return in the evening was very pleasant. We only ate in the hotel on one evening but it was excellent and the breakfasts were very good also. We would certainly stay here again and would confidently recommend La Pergola to anyone visiting this beautiful area.

We loved La Pergola! I recommend this hotel to everyone. The rooms are clean and pretty, the personnel is extremely nice and helpful and it is very close to the beach (10 minutes by foot). We took a meal at the hotel, it was delicious and fresh. There are also a few restaurants close by and the bus stop is very close if you prefer to eat downtown. There is a lemon garden on the roof of the hotel that you can visit. When we stopped by, the owner offered us a glass of the lemoncello (local liquor) he made with is own lemons. As an example of the generosity of the staff, the day we left Amalfi, we were offered to be driven with our luggage downtown when we were found unable to get a bus. La Pergola was a big part of the magical experience that was the Amalfi Coast for us. We will definitely stay in this hotel the next time we're in town.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel La Pergola. Innkeeper Daniello was extremely helpful to us in finding places to visit and restaurants in the Amalfi area, and he was a great help to us in getting around the area. The breakfasts were very good and the rooms were comfortable. We highly recommend the hotel.

This hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The friendliness of the staff was fantastic and their advice and help really made our stay in Amalfi even more enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Amalfi.

Lovely walk along the tops into Amalfi. Very helpful staff who told us everything we needed to know, and were always happy to help. Best of luck to the managers as they couldn't have been more helpful, or useful.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is family run and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the food, though they do like you to book in advance of the meal. The hotel is well appointed, clean and comfortable. It is a little way our of Amalfi (2Km) and it is not much fun to walk along the coast road so, if you do not have a car, you need to rely on public transport. Don't rely on public transport if you have to be somewhere at a particular time, give yourself plenty of leeway! If you book this hotel we would expect you to be satisfied with your stay

We stayed at this hotel as part of our honeymoon, and couldn't have been more pleased. Despite three days of rain, we managed to make the most of our days in Amalfi with the helpful and friendly advice from the staff at La Pergola. The rooms were not only cleaned promptly, but tidied as well, and the view was exceptional. The staff did their utmost to ensure our stay was as pleasant and memorable as possible. The free breakfast was the best we had encountered throughout our travels, as was the service. Our only concern was that the hotel was 1.5 km outside the town centre, which was somewhat inconvenient particularly since the buses were on strike at the time. Nevertheless outstanding value for the dollar, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Amalfi.

Although this was only our 2nd year on holiday in Amalfi, and our hotel last year was OK, it did not compare to the price and standard of service we received at La Pergola. The Hotel was incredibly clean, well run and the service is equivalent to a top hotel. We will surely recommend this to both family and friends and make a return visit ourselves. And you must also try the homemade lemonade and limoncello, it is out of this world.

The staff were extremely helpful and the hotel was very clean and pleasant inside. The main drawback was that we chose it as a coast location but it is actually on a narrow inlet and therefore faces the other side of this, not the sea. Also it is very close to the road and the rooms were only up one floor. The location does make it very easy for buses, e.g. to Positano. The garage is right next door and convenient. There are lovely lemon groves above the hotel.

It was a wonderfull choice made for Amalfi. It's a bit out of the centre but closer to the beaches. The staff were very kind and helpful with all our needs, the food in the hotel is excellent. We will definetely recommend this hotel to Amalfi visitors. The bus stop is at the door so u can easily reach whereever u want to go:)) A great thanks to hotel staff!

We cannot fault the quality of the service and the welcome offered at this hotel. We were treated as welcome friends by the lovely family who own it and the Signora's cooking is of the very highest order. The lemon grove garden on the roof is a delightful place to relax and the view lovely. It was pleasant not to be in the heart of Amalfi, the walk there kept us fit! The problems of location are shared by all hotels along a very crowded strip of coast. We would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it highly

At least 20 minutes walk from Amalfi, but is convenient to the bus stops to Sorrento and Naples. Welcoming staff were very obliging and looked after us well. Rooms were clean, and lived up to our expectations of a 3 star hotel.

Hotel and Staff were wonderful and greatly added to the enjoyment of our holiday. One thing to bear in mind is that the hotel is 30 minutes walk into Amalfi although there are regular buses. For my wife and I the location was perfect and allowed us to explore more of the area including a beautiful beach just below the hotel. I would recommend La Pergola and Amalfi without hesitation.

We loved La Pergola! The owners were delightful and very helpful to us. Our immaculate room was very pretty with a wonderful view of the Amalfi area. When we asked where to have dinner on our last night, the owner prepared a wonderful seafood dish for us. Even though this was the least expensive room that we stayed in during our trip to Italy, it was our favorite.

after a long day's travel by train, ferry and bus, we were really pleased to be shown to our clean, comfortable room, and offered a wonderful dinner so we didn't have to go out again that night. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We look forward to another visit with them in the future.
