We stayed 5 days late April and had a very enjoyable time. The hotel is small, family-run and spotless. Amalfi is within walking range once you get used to the narrow roads.Restaurant only open for breakfast the days we were there, so confirm; however good eating is within walking distance. Bus stop is at the front door and service is frequent in both directions, if you arent comfortable driving. Rooms overlook road, but we did not notice road noise.Staff had good recommendations for beaches, interesting places, reasonably priced but tasty food. The area is impressive, and a high point figuratively and literally is Ravello. Take in a concert at the Villa Rufolo there, and also take a walk along the "back lane" from Hotel Belvedere to Villa Cimbra. See Capri. Skip Sorrento. Overall La Pergola was great value for reasonable price with friendly helpful innkeepers.

We were pleasantly shocked when we received our room at La Pergola. After travelling a few other European cities prior to arriving in Amalfi, we were delighted to enter what I would call a 'suite'. The room was exceptionally clean and very large; it was about 4 times the size of any of the other rooms we had stayed in. As value for money, it could not be beat. The staff were exceptional, and the view from the hotel was just wonderful. The only caution I would offer is that the location is not in the town of Amalfi - it is at the top of the hill leading into Amalfi. So be prepared for that. For us, it was no problem; the 15 minute walk into town was just lovely, and the payoff (the view) was well worth it for us. If you do not wish to walk, the bus service is great, and they stop right in front of the hotel to go into town or in the opposite direction, to explore Positano, Praiano, and all the other wonderful little cities. Amalfi was the highlight of our trip, and La Pergola was the best hotel experience we encountered.

Had never been to Amalfi before so did not know what to expect. I was very happy with the hotel. A little outside town, but suited me fine as bus stop just outside the hotel door. Room was spacious, clean and very cool. Surroundings could not have been more perfect. Ideal for couples but would probably not recommend it for children as very busy road, no pool etc. The staff were exceptional to the extent that Danielle even gave us a lift down to the town one evening as we missed the bus. Very accommodating family. Breakfast was very good and I really couldn't fault this hotel. I look forward to my next visit.

The hospitality we received during our stay at La Pergola was tops. It far exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. My daughter and I had very limited time to spend on the Amalfi coast and they pointed out the "must sees" on our short stay. We only wish we had more time to spend with them. Thank you La Pergola for making our mother-daugter trip unforgettable!

The service was excellent. We arrive very late and still got service for sandwiches, wine, etc. I forgot the name of the Argentinian girl in charge and the guy in the bar. Excellent people. We loved the place!! THANKS

The staff was excellent and helpful, and spoke the best English at any hotel during our stay in Italy. The rooftop lemon garden is a perfect place to have an after dinner drink. To get to the center of Amalfi you have to take a short bus ride, but the stop is right outside the door and the buses run every 20 minutes. After our stay here we continued on to Positano, and that bus also stops right in front of the hotel.

The service at La Pergola was outstanding. They were very helpful and friendly the entire 5 days of our stay, but at the end when we had trouble with Hertz regarding a broken down vehicle the people at La Pergola really went above and beyond with their assistance. The rooms and property were very nice and a good value. The bus stops right at the front door for travel to and from the town of Amalfi if you don't wish to walk.

Friendliness of all staff helped make our stay a very enjoyable one. Breakfast was good with a variety of cold choices. The room was fine with a pleasant view towards the sea, which is across the main road and down many nearby steps. The Amalfi Drive, the road outside the hotel, is busy and noisy ,but that is one reason for going to the area. It was a great experience to drive along it and get used to the local driving habits! We also used the local bus service which is reliable and cheap. It stops directly outside the hotel,so long as you put your arm out to stop it.

Very good place to stay. The owners are very helpfull. Excellent breakfast, far above italian standards. Our room had a nice balcony, unfortunately right at the bus stop and just before a curve in the spectacular SS163, so it was not enjoyable when there was a lot of traffic on the road. Helpfull staff

This is an example of true hotel-keeping, a lost art now in many western countries and existing wholly with the staff and their friendliness, caring and competence. Long may La Pergola survive to give such service

Short holiday (7 nights) with my wife. First visit to southern Italy. Hotel staff were excellent and welcoming. Would have been useful to know that the nearby beach was only accessible via 350 steps! Would also be useful to have known how excellent bus and boat services were as we would not have hired a car had we known. Did not realise hotel was on a busy road and therefore noisier than expected. Would have been good to know cost of evening meals and availability of half board. food in the hotel was very good. Would have been nice to have a larger reception area or public rest room.

Great place to stay run by a wonderful family. Highly recommended for a base in the Amalf areai. It is a short bus ride from town with regular and cheap service. A great option if you do not want to be in the heart of Amalfi and considerably less expensive for a very modern room. Although it is right on the manin highway from Amalfi to Positano, the noise was not too bad given the use of insulated windows. The dinner at the hotel was excellent as well.

Excellent staff. Breakfast very nice with variety. Terrace on top is wonderful, as is hotel food. Have at least one dinner there. The beach is down over 200 steps and must walk back UP to get back to hotel, or take the water taxi to Amalfi and bus back. Do NOT take a taxi from Amalfi to hotel as they will certainly rip you off. The buses stop just outside of the hotel and run every 15 minutes or so. The road outside of the hotel is noisy. The hotel staff is amazingly helpful. The lemon sorbet that you receive on the house on arrival is the perfect treat.

Wonderful hotel with a wonderful, helpful staff. We were greeted with homemade lemon sorbet, and the requirement for pre-ordering dinner was waived to accomodate our late arrival from the airport. The bus stop is right outside the front door of the hotel, and there is another bus stop for other routes about 1/4 mile up the road at the crossroad. Breakfast was very nice; as is dinner which is served upstairs on a terrace. The hotel is very new, and the rooms are spacious, airy, with high ceilings. We stayed four nights. It is important to pre-reserve parking since this is such a limited commodity all along the Amalfi coast.

The room, the service and the employees are all highly rated. The only problem was the small garage, making it nearly impossible to get in the car and drive anywhere. The employees were helpful with bus schedules, but we didn't feel up to using the bus. As a result, we stayed put in the hotel and had dinner there. We also enjoyed some afternoon wine on the terrace with a great view of the mountains and the sea. Even though we felt "stuck" there, we'd return again because it's so beautiful there.

we had a wonderful stay at la pergola, the welcome was first class. staff were so helpful in arranging tours etc, nothing was too much trouble. very helpful in giving info on local transport etc etc. the only negative comment i would make, and i must stress that it is not a complaint--- is that , we stayed for 8 days and it would have been nice had there been a variation in the breakfast buffet, however having said that! i would certainly visit LA PERGOLA again, Amalfi coast is fantastic, lots to offer.wonderful friendly people-- just a joy!

Very pleased with the room and sevice also offered excellent evening meals. Only drawback I would say the location is a little far from Amalfi but there was a good bus service just outside the hotel. Also it was on a main route so the road was a little noisy. Staff was very good and always helpful with all the requests made. Family run which was also an advantage. This was the first time we stayed there.Rooms were very good.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone, we hope to go back. It’s a family run hotel; all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The proprietor makes his own wine and liqueurs, you must try them, they are excellent. The hotel is situated on the coast road in the middle of a lemon grove. The terraces are beautiful with stunning views. The short bus ride into Amalfi is easy and avoids expensive parking in the town.

Great stay! Enchanting terrace among the lemon trees with view on the sea. Great home made wine and lemon granite! Breakfast: remarkable. Do not forget to ask for a capuccino. Parking lot in a grotto: amazing to see people of the hotel park up to 11 cars in something equivalent to my driveway! Conveniently located if you wish to take bus (Amalfi, Ravello, Positano...)

Hotel La Pergola provided us with a fabulous experience! We ended up extending our trip twice because we just didn't want to leave. We loved Amalfi and the surrounding area and were very happy with La Pergola. Although the hotel is approx 1 1/2kms out of town, it is perfectly situated only 100 metres from a really lovely quiet little beach, a lot nicer than the beaches in Amalfi itself. Fernanda and her staff were extremely friendly, helpful and informative and took a lot of time explaining local points of interest and making sure we were well informed regarding transport etc. Being a little out of town made our room a little quieter than a centrally placed hotel and the short walk into town each morning and return in the evening was very pleasant. We only ate in the hotel on one evening but it was excellent and the breakfasts were very good also. We would certainly stay here again and would confidently recommend La Pergola to anyone visiting this beautiful area.

We had a wonderful stay at La Pergola--beautiful facility, amazing staff, delicious food... we couldn't have asked for more. While we were a bit disappointed at Amalfi feeling completely overrun with tourists (yes, I know it's ironic for me to say so), La Pergola gave us a real sense of the Italian culture and spirit.

We loved La Pergola! I recommend this hotel to everyone. The rooms are clean and pretty, the personnel is extremely nice and helpful and it is very close to the beach (10 minutes by foot). We took a meal at the hotel, it was delicious and fresh. There are also a few restaurants close by and the bus stop is very close if you prefer to eat downtown. There is a lemon garden on the roof of the hotel that you can visit. When we stopped by, the owner offered us a glass of the lemoncello (local liquor) he made with is own lemons. As an example of the generosity of the staff, the day we left Amalfi, we were offered to be driven with our luggage downtown when we were found unable to get a bus. La Pergola was a big part of the magical experience that was the Amalfi Coast for us. We will definitely stay in this hotel the next time we're in town.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is family run and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the food, though they do like you to book in advance of the meal. The hotel is well appointed, clean and comfortable. It is a little way our of Amalfi (2Km) and it is not much fun to walk along the coast road so, if you do not have a car, you need to rely on public transport. Don't rely on public transport if you have to be somewhere at a particular time, give yourself plenty of leeway! If you book this hotel we would expect you to be satisfied with your stay

We stayed at this hotel as part of our honeymoon, and couldn't have been more pleased. Despite three days of rain, we managed to make the most of our days in Amalfi with the helpful and friendly advice from the staff at La Pergola. The rooms were not only cleaned promptly, but tidied as well, and the view was exceptional. The staff did their utmost to ensure our stay was as pleasant and memorable as possible. The free breakfast was the best we had encountered throughout our travels, as was the service. Our only concern was that the hotel was 1.5 km outside the town centre, which was somewhat inconvenient particularly since the buses were on strike at the time. Nevertheless outstanding value for the dollar, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Amalfi.

Although this was only our 2nd year on holiday in Amalfi, and our hotel last year was OK, it did not compare to the price and standard of service we received at La Pergola. The Hotel was incredibly clean, well run and the service is equivalent to a top hotel. We will surely recommend this to both family and friends and make a return visit ourselves. And you must also try the homemade lemonade and limoncello, it is out of this world.

The staff were extremely helpful and the hotel was very clean and pleasant inside. The main drawback was that we chose it as a coast location but it is actually on a narrow inlet and therefore faces the other side of this, not the sea. Also it is very close to the road and the rooms were only up one floor. The location does make it very easy for buses, e.g. to Positano. The garage is right next door and convenient. There are lovely lemon groves above the hotel.

We cannot fault the quality of the service and the welcome offered at this hotel. We were treated as welcome friends by the lovely family who own it and the Signora's cooking is of the very highest order. The lemon grove garden on the roof is a delightful place to relax and the view lovely. It was pleasant not to be in the heart of Amalfi, the walk there kept us fit! The problems of location are shared by all hotels along a very crowded strip of coast. We would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it highly
