Hotel La Ninfa - Amalfi

Stayed at La Ninfa for 4 nights. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived to find that the room was very small and the shower was especially small. However, the view is fantastic which is a great incentive to book a room with a sea view. Also, the road to the hotel is very busy and can be dangerous to walk at night. Overall, we loved Amalfi and had a brilliant holiday.

Our room at La Ninfa really was, as the photographs showed, built out over the sea. Staying there is quite an experience, something like sleeping on a boat. The people were lovely too. We hadn't looked at the map carefully though and the hotel is 2 KM outside of Amalfi, up hill of course, which was definitely a drawback, necessitating buses, late-night taxis and uphill climbs. A very fun place to stay for a few days.

The hotel is a charming old building with welcoming and hospitable staff. You can see and hear the sea from some of the rooms but only one or 2 has the breathtaking view showed on the picture. The rooms are small and you hardly spend some time there unless sleeping The same is valid for the area for breakfast. The breakfast itself is poor and far from the local famous food - it can be described as rather industrial and unhealthy. No parking, so you risk a fine if you stop on the street. The surrounding is charming but the price is definitely much higher than the value of what you actually get. Same is valid for the info on the portal- shows only the best room of the hotel, which is only 1 (nr 5).

The main plus of this hotel is surrounding - you sleep and wake up with the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.We had quite small room but the view from the window was fantastic.It was a bit noisy in the morning,because the breakfast space is the hall near the rooms.This is a good place for relaxed and peaceful vacation.

My wife and I were initially disappointed to find that we were not given the room (with a view) we requested and reserved. However, your excellent manager, Maurizio d'Agostino, managed to make up for the oversight. By the end of our visit we were fans of La Ninfa. Our only suggestion would be an improved breakfast - perhaps with cheese or eggs or meat.

When we arrived, Mauricio was super friendly and welcoming. We fell in love with our room immediately- it was #5, the one with the balcony and window/ocean view in the room and bathroom (be aware that it is the only room with a balcony, and not all rooms have an ocean view, so make sure to request #5). We loved having showers while looking out at the ocean and the yachts! So surreal! The service and facility were top notch, and the location was AMAZING! We could have done a whole vacation just at Amalfi, staying at La Ninfa. The beach and elevator to the beach cost (15 euros each), and our room wasn't overly cheap, but it was all worth the splurging for such an awe-inspiring experience! Mauricio and Maria were always present to help, and they even recommended a nearby restaurant that had amazing food, outstanding service and free shuttle. If you can, take a ferry from Naples to Amalfi instead of bus or train- it was so beautiful, but takes about 2 hrs (and costs 15 euros a person). Almafi's main square looks like something straight out of a fairytale, and the towns nearby (Ravello, Positano) are worth touring too! Yet, we always looked forward to coming back to our room at night to sit out on the balcony and star gaze, listening to the ocean. We can't say enough- it was a dream come true!

On arrival Maurizio couldn't have been more helpful!! We arrived very early and he had our room prepared very quickly. We really appreciated this flexibility,also we decided to stay a third night and again Maurizio rearranged his bookings to accomodate us.The only criticism was that our room was under the common area..this meant it got very noisy during the night..also the mattress had collapsed and could/should have been replaced long ago. Altogether...the views were unbelievable & staff very friendly.If you can try to visit Ravello...we loved it.

Absolutely breathtaking views and a private beach! I highly recommend this place. The only thing missing was a working phone in the room.
