Staying at this hotel was amazing I'd give it 10/10 for everything and the only reason I've marked down staff competence is because it was hard getting information out of the staff with regards to excursions, recommended places to eat etc, because the staff couldn't speak English very well. They tried to help as best they could although the problem was probably half our fault too as we visited Italy and couldn't speak a word of Italian.

Our stay at the Il Nido was the highlight of our Amalfi Coast trip. This 15-room charming hotel is located high up enough to afford a beautiful view of the town and the sea. The rooms and spacious balconies were romantic and extraordinarily maintained. We've never met a nicer staff. It's a bit of a hike to get up there, but you can take a bus or a taxi for the short distance on the way back if you are tired. We got fabulous recommendations from them about where to eat and what to do. Amalfi is a gorgeous town that's charming and priced more reasonably than neighboring Positano. We heartily give the Hotel Il Nido our highest recommendation and look forward to a return visit!

"Our hotel is your home", said Francesca to my wife on our first morning after asking for a cappuccino in place of the regular (and good) coffee at breakfast. We found a beautiful bouquet of flowers in our room, ordered by our daughter for my birthday, and charged for the cost price. Family owned hotel with Francesca, the daughter, taking care of the breakfast served in a dining room overlooking the sea and Amalfi. The breakfast was the best we got in a 3 star hotel in Italy, the room was good with a balcony (geraniums) with side view on Amalfi and the blue open sea from high above. Real value for money. Some tips: - There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but we always walked down to the town, enjoying the beautiful views. The bus might be full and not stop. - There is a fair restaurant near the hotel (la Favoritta) viewing the sea, with a charming old waiter. - The road between Positano, Amalfi and Ravello is spectacular, with stunning views. Just take the regular bus from Amalfi and stop in different places and try to walk along the narrow road to view special panoramas. If you ride in a car, you can hardly stop or see anything and meet frequently the threatening buses.

This was a lovely hotel. We loved every single aspect of it. The deck off our room was amazing! Very large - it made our stay even better than we had ever hoped for. The breakfast room was beautiful to sit in and the food was fabulous. The bathroom and room was very, very spacious. There was nothing negative to say about this hotel. Il Nido is a pleasant walk into Amalfi to the East. It is warmly decorated, comfortably furnished, and the staff is nothing short of excellent. The view from the balcony is of course quite spectacular, with snow capped mountains to the left, Amalfi, and the Mediterranean all around. There is indoor parking for just three cars. No room safe. Would be delighted to stay there again.

Hotel is about 12 minutes from bus stop area by foot. The road is uphill and through 2 tunnels, have to be careful about traffic on the road. Had a nice view of the town from my balcony. Couldn't really fault the hotel or the room in any way. Breakfast was good. No curfew at night as reception staffed 24 hours. Would probably return to the hotel again as the price was quite good for the Costiera Amalfitana.

First time at the hotel. Read some rewievs before. Yes it is a bit outside town but easily walked even if traffic is intence. There is a walk but it is poorly lit at night. Parking is always a major concern in this area but it was nicely provided by the hotel. The wiev was fantastic. The first floor of the hotel is actually the third of the building. Could be handled thrugh a very small elevator or a lot of steps as everuwhere in this area. In general I would considder the hotel for another vacation even if I thought it a little bit overpriced but that is propably true for most hotel in this area. Dont forget to ask for the safetybox. Its worth a good laugh just like a maffia movie

Having booked two nights, we then added an extra night (prior to our original two). Upon arrival, no booking had been made for us and it transpires that the member of staff at the hotel forgot to book our extra night. We therefore had to stay at another hotel close by in a room off reception! The breakfast was very poor with no fruit juice just fruit squash and a poor selection of anything else. Although the public areas were supposed to be non smoking, upon arrival it was clear that the person on reception had been smoking because of the ashtray on the desk!. Also we found traces of cigarette ash on the bedroom floor and as a non smoker this was not acceptable. On the plus side, the room had a large balcony with a superb view over Amalfi Bay.

great place to view the sea.... tasty breakfast in a beautiful dining room... being a short distance out of the main downtown ( 1/4 mile ) keeps the noise down..but you do have some walking ( with beautiful views) or a short cab ride (which can be expensive)to get back and forth from downtown....well worth it in our view...

First time staying here and first time to Amalfi. Loved the experience, didn't mind the walk into town but could see how others may see as a challenge. Breakfast was incredible! Beautiful views and room was clean. Only negative is that you are right above the Amalfi highway so all the traffic comes under your window. Also, it's a challenge parking near the hotel. Would recommend.

The hotel Il Nido is a very good hotel, but i'd like to notice that its location is not in Amalfi but "upstairs", and travellers have to take a taxi (3 min driving from Amalfi downtown) to get the hotel instead of walking along the road

Hotel Il Nido exceed my standars, it's located in a fantastic place. The only negative item is no having some restaurants close, and going to have dinner to the centre of the city and coming by foot is a little far and dangerous. All the landmarks close to the hotel are marvelous. It's a good place to rest and travel in the Amalfi Coast. Best regards, Alfredo.

This is one of my favorite hotels. The view from my room off the balcony of the sea was gorgeous and so was the room. Thier breakfast was also very good, lots of food to choose from. The other people staying there were nice and easy to talk with. The walk from the hotel to the village of Amalfi isn't bad, but there are ALOT of steps to get to the street below. Not good for someone with disabilities, but you can get a cab. Susie USA

Great hotel!! Everything was fantastic from the staff, the room, the bathroom and shower, the breakfast, the location from the city, and most importantly the terrace with a view. What a view!! Each room has it's own terrace facing the ocean and this we loved very much. A bonus to the terrace is that it gives you the opportunity to meet your neighbors if you so choose which we did. We met a beautiful couple from the UK, Ed and Liz, and we had such a wonderful time with them that we plan to stay in touch. Fantastic hotel!!

As a whole the stay was excellent. Very quiet considering that it is right on the main road of Costiera Amalfitana (we were there in february though, summer traffic being heavier it could end up being noisier). The only negative thing is that a second room was being used by a single guest in our party, and he had to pay the full price as for two occupants (bed and breakfast type rate) even though over the phone we had been assured that his rate would be lower (by 20 euros). So make sure you know the correct rate beforehand. We had motorcycles and they let us use the indoor garage, which is excellent. We reccomend this hotel and are going to go again!

My boyfriend and I drove from Rome to the Amalfi Coast. Our first stop was Sorrento where we stayed for a couple of nights. We then headed for the Amalfi and stayed at Il Nido for 3 wonderful nights. Our room overlooked the blue sea and the magnificent coastline. The terrace was very nice. We had wine and cheese underneath the full moon one evening ... beautiful setting. The duomo and main piazza was only a 10 minute walk. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was buffet, nothing too fancy, but perfect enough to start your day. We enjoyed it. The staff were always friendly and very attentive. Parking was an added bonus. We had breakfast in Amalfi one day, lunch in Positano and dinner in Ravello. Love, loved, loved the Amalfi Coast. Maneuvering the roads however can be challenging. But the scenery was incredible. Il Nido was a very nice hotel and we would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Amalfi.

I love the veranda available on every room which overlooks the Mediterranean sea. They also have an elevator, although small, which makes all the difference in the world. They also have an automatic door to close off the veranda from the hotel room. The only caveat is it's a bit far from the main town but there are steps you can take to walk down the town. This is also good because it means you're away from the crowd.

The owner of the Hotel arranged car service from Naples. The driver did not show up. I called the driver and he said he could meet us in 1 hour.We declined his offer and hailed a cab. The cab cost was 55 euro higher than the prearranged driver. Mike at the hotel paid the taxi. And charged us the original cost. And was very accomadating. To go to Rome the train station is in Salerno. By Bus.The Bus is in town and too far to walk. The night desk person drove us to the bus station.Which was more helpful than you can believe. After seeing the hills in Amalfi you will understand, walking with luggage is not an option. There is taxi service if needed. But i can say the hotel went out of its ways to be helpful. Thanks Mike and the entire staff of Il Nido.

The hotel was just as described on the website. Fantastic views from a huge terrace and a wonderful cooling breeze. Convenient to the town of Amalfi- at best a 10 to 15 min. walk. Not too treacherous hugging the curb of the main road to get to the stairs leading down to the harbor and into town. At night, a taxi ride back to the hotel was 10 euros. While it would have been nice to have access to a private beach and a pool, the price and views made up for the lack of those two amenities. The proprietor was a quiet man, but very friendly and always willing to give touring and restaurant advice. The parking garage at the hotel was a must.

When we arrived at Il Nido we were not given the room we had booked as they said it was not available! We had booked a room with a balcony and sea view. Instead we were put in a horrible, dark room with a tiny window. We were not shown or told about anything - breakfast, facilities, etc. We were a bit despondent as this was the start of our holiday to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! However, we were delighted with our room when we moved the next day. Large, spotless and with a balcony overlooking the sea. Apart from our initial reception, the staff were happy, friendly and helpful. They were happy to lend us crockery and cutlery so we could have a cold supper on our balcony one night and were always welcoming. The views were great and we found the walk to the town no problem at all. It was lovely. Spotless hotel, parking free, though a bit congested! Breakfast ok but coffee poor.

I stayed 3 days in Amalfi, the hotel is a pretty good solution for a b&b traveller. It's clean, comfortable and breakfast is good. A negative note is the distance from Amalfi, 600 mts. on a road and steep stairs, good only if you plan a physical training. Maybe a little lower price would be the right thing.

My husband and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Il Nido and would definitely recommend it for couples. The walk into town and back took 15min or so and some of the the steps are on a significant incline, depending on the route you choose! Evenings out were very enjoyable and we ate at a variety of restaurants in town. The town was bustling and lively so we appreciated the relative quiet of Il Nido, although the traffic noise is a constant feature. The views over the sea are truly spectacular. We left the car in the car park for the whole stay (3 nights) and either walked or took the bus. The bus ride to Sorrento, and all stops in between, gets tedious despite the view so we got the boat back from Positano to Amalfi - a much quicker and more comfortable option. The breakfast, although adequate, did lack variety but in our experience this is fairly typical of Italian hotels.

Hotel was marginal at best. Pictures on web-site made the hotel look better than it was. Tub had no shower curtain. Complementry breakfast was very poor. Good points include on-site parking and a relative short walk to town (however the steps up and down to the harbor were long and dark at night). Found other hotels in the area for the same price that were much better. Would not stay here again.

My 2 adult daughters and I had a very lovely stay at this hotel for 2 nights! The breakfast area and our room balcony views towards the ocean were perfect, and I would definately recommend it (as long as you don't mind a little walk). Taxi prices seemed quite high - paid 35 euros to go from hotel to downtown ferry spot which is a 10-15 minute walk probably not more than a mile. Town is wonderfully active, full of many delightful shopping places, restaraunts, and things to see. Didn't do the beach, but saw many enjoying it. Definately take a ferry to Sorrento or Positano if time permits. Bus ride was quite scary around the cliffs and hairpin turns, but no mishaps, so all in all a good ride for spectacular views! I would have loved a coffee pot in the room, but went down one morning and they let me take some back to the room.

Excellent, beautiful hotel. We spent a long weekend in Amalfi, and I'm happy that I choosed this hotel. Please note, while the hotel has some parking places, Amalfitana cost is not famous about the high number of parking places and traffic, so better avoid coming by car to this area. The city centre is around 20 minutes walk from the hotel mainly on steps, good for young people, would be hard or impossible for older or disabled people. The hotel was just as the website said. Great view of the sea, I had my own private terrace with a view of the harbor. If traveling by bus, you want to get off just before the tunnel. I lucked out, the bus stop was on the main road in front of the hotel. Downhill walk to town, great at night, and a walk around the harbor is a must. Had the "local fish" in a restaurant in town, it was quite bland, but overall nice meal. A walk be to town the next morning as greated with thousands of tourists, very crowded, but a cute little town. Take a ferry from the harbor to Positano. Its a great town to visit as well. Venere provides a great service, have recommended to friends already.

This is really a charming hotel. Magnificent sea view from the room terrace and from the breakfast veranda. It is amazingly quiet facing the fact that it lies on the Amalfitana road. Another point we liked very much: they serve breakfast from 7am, so we could easily catch the early buses for hiking. The breakfast, however, was no hit: no fresh fruit and one of the worst coffees in Italy.

My husband and I loved the location of our room which the owner happily changed for us to be on the end closest to the town of Amalfi. My husband is a photographer and took the most breathtaking pictures of this romantic and beautiful town. Our deck overlooking the ocean and town was fabulous as was the short walk into town-no need to drive. It was the best town to stay in while exploring that whole region along the unforgettable coast road SS163. We would definitely return as we had booked for 4 nights and stayed for 6! Highly recommend Hotel Nido with our wonderful host.

The sea views were spectacular, it was a joy to wake up to clear skies and azure seas in our room. the quiet of winter made our stay even more tranquil, and Mike, our host went out of his way for us, and we were really grateful for that. the steps up from town to the hotel might prove daunting, but take it as a mini workout - with a fabulous view.

We would highly recommend this hotel, whilst it is a little way from the centre of Amalfi it is near by a great little bar and the walk into town is enjoyable. The rooms and balconys were wonderful, the breakfast views amazing and really great value for money.

The hotel was conveniently located, though the stairs down to town were not well marked and it was hard to determine which was the better. One is 75 steps long, the other a long 175 back up the hill. The views across to Sicily are wonderful. It would be helpful if the staff had more information about restaurants since there is none at Il Nido.

The view was as good as advertised. The parking in manageable but difficult. The view at breakfast is very memorable. It would be very difficult to access the hotel from town without a care and vice versa.

my husband and I stayed at Il Nido for six nights. we simply couldn't get over the magnificent view from our balcony for such a reasonable price. We soon got used to the walk and found it to be part of the adventure. The restaurant a few yards down from Il Nido on our way to town offered fabulous food and friendly staff. We didn't find the staff at Il Nido as friendly as we hoped but over all we felt so blessed to have found this place.

Il Nido is in a greatlocation if you don't mind a bit of a walk, which we don't. You also have to dodge a bit of traffic, I guess it's a trade-off if you want the great views, you need to have a walk. There are buses, however you could waste a lot of time waiting for them.My main complaint with the Il Nido was the breakfast. I think a hotel of this calibre would gain many more points if they offered real orange juice instead of cordial and some nice fresh fruit each morning. We bought our own cereal and fruit and took this to supplement the croissants and cold meats.

Beautiful view to see the Saturday fireworks in Amalfi. The staff could not have been more helpful, breakfast was better than other hotels in a 7 day stay for the same price range. Our room was nice , TV a bit small but adaquate. It is on our list to return and stay a few more days on our next visit.

Hotel was very comfortable, but unfortunately was a lot further out of town than we anticipated. The staff were pleasant, but didn't offer any help or engage in conversation with guests. Breakfast was served in silence, possibly due to the staff not speaking great English. Rooms were clean and comfortable and naturally had a wonderful view. Again it was a shame it was situated right on the main road into town, we didn't realise this when we booked.

Our particular room had a very small balcony which was off the very end of the room so the magnificent view could not be seen if you were in the room. IT was like they chopped this room together to squeeze an extra room in.The other rooms had great balconies. Thank heaven they had parking as there is no place to park otherwise. Breakfast was great as well. I'd stay there again but ask for a different room.

The place was very clean, quiet and had an awesome view. We took some beautiful pictures from our balcony. The staff was plesant and there was always someone around. The owner understood English and this was a big plus since we spoke very little Italian. We had read one input from another traveller who said it was a precarious walk to the hotel from town. It can be, but we found a lot of people (locals and tourists) walking with us since much of the building in Amalfi is on the side of the mountain. In other words unless you stay in the center of town, a walk on the narrow roads with buses, cars, scooters and motorcycles whizzing by is the norm. We just made sure we wore light colors at night. We also found other paths so we cut our walk on the road to about a fourth the distance by the second day. We're both glad we stayed at this hotel. I think we both agree that we'd rather have a view of the ocean than the crowds in town. We got to see some awesome fireworks from our balcony. Given what we know now, we'd still stay at this hotel.

We had a lovely stay; three of us in a room with a balcony and lovely views. The walk down hill is fun; we took a taxi back. Amalfi is lovely, great restuarants and a lovely church to view. I didn't mind driving around the coast, but it was early June and the traffic wasn't as bad as expected. I reccommend Il Nido highly. Best cuppocino in Italy and a wonderful welcome feeling.

We stayed for 1 week and found the hotel to be as advertised. A nice, clean, quiet, well run establishment located about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride) up the hill from Amalfi. The few staff that we did meet were, on the whole, eager to please and dealt with any requests quickly and efficiently. The view from our balcony was excellent (the sight of dolphins close-in one day was an added bonus) Highly recommended to anyone wanting to base themselves on the Amalfi coast with a view to seeing the surrounding area (Sorrento, Capri, Pompei etc), although it is a 2 1/2 hour journey from Naples by train and bus (probably quicker by a fast ferry).

Our stay at the Il Nildo hotel in June was very pleasant. The rooms are nice, clean and good maintained. All rooms have a balcony from which you have a breathtaking view onto the sea and a part of Amalfi. We found a most hospitable and informative hotel owner and a friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is just what you need in the morning, fresh rolls, jam, delicious prociutto and even good, strong and hot. We warmly recommend this little hotel.

The Il Nido is a great place to stay in Amalfi. The street noise is annoying during the day but it gets quiet at night and does not interfere with sleeping. The view from the balcony of the room is fabulous as is the view from the breakfast area. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Il Nido was the perfect choice for our 4 days staying in Amalfi Coast. It´s a little out of town but that is not a bad thing, the location permits breathtaking views from the breakfast area and rooms. Rooms are very spacious and clean, breakfast is very good and the staff is very pleasant especially Orestes the front desk boy that was the most helpful guy we have met in all our 3 weeks trip. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone especially those who want stay in Amalfi Coast without havins to pay a fortune. From Cruz, Chaves and Franco.

What a beautiful place to spend a week. Waking up every morning and looking out at the flowers cascading over the railing and the sea beyond. Loved doing yoga on my patio. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. My husband loved the cappucino every morning. Thougt the breakfast was very good however would liked to have seen fresh fruit on the breakfast bar. All in all this was a great stay and very reasonably priced especially for that area. The walk into town was brief, back to the hotel was quite a climb uphill - great exercise. However I would advise any person who wanted to visit this area in general the the walking can be uphill and strenous at times.

Our room had a large balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the water and Amalfi. The breakfast room had an excellent view and the food was good. It was a hike down to Amalfi center but then it was a hike everywhere on the rugged Amalfi coast, and we loved it. The property fronts the main road, so it is a little noisy unless you close the shutters to your balcony. It was a beautiful area with easy ferry and bus service. Try the hike to Ravello through the lemon groves and Atrani.
