My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Floridiana to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.Staying here was a wonderful experience and the staff ensured our celebration was excellent and extremly personal. The help and advice of the owner and all the staff was of the best and ensured we discovered the beauty of Amalfi and the coast. Restaurant advice was accurate & without biase. I would unreservedly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Floridian is a little gem in the lovely coastal town of Amalfi. We stayed three nights [14 - 16 May 09] and throughly enjoyed our time. The personal service and attention provided by Agnas, the hotel's owner, and her wonderful staff exceeded our expectations. We had a junior suite that was more than adequate in size for the two of us. The hotel was super clean and the friendly staff clearly takes pride in their hotel and service. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the town so if your're going to spend a night or two in Amalfi stay here you won't be disappointed.

The best kept secret in Amalfi is the Floridiana Hotel! Wonderful everything! We were aprehensive when we booked through Venere but what a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend! Great breakfast, and clean, clean, rooms throughout, and best of all Agnes (owner) and Eva are the best! Will definately book again.

Very friendly staff at this boutique hotel which provides an excellent offer of large room, large bathroom, large dining room and an ample breakfast at a reasonable price. Location in the heart of town is great : Easily accessible, yet far from city noise ! Conversely, no view but on a modest courtyard.

This met up to our expectations - especially the friendliness and welcome of Agnes and Maria Rosa. Excellent value for price. Great, quiet location. Small comment - would have preferred softer bed and pillows. Otherwise, great recommendation.

We loved the location within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants - right in the heart of it all, yet removed enough to be quiet. The instructions given on how to find the place and where to park the car were excellent. The staff were helpful, expecially the owner. We loved staying there and would recommend it to all.

Nothing is perfect, but Hotel Floridiana came very close. Within the locality I could not consider staying anywhere else. As most other reviews endorse, its success is especially down to Agnese.

The hotel was just as good as we had been led to believe and the owner and staff were really helpful and informative. Our only gripe was the breakfast room, which was a bit dark and formal.

I highly recommend this hotel. I choose it because of price, location and the reviews. The reviews said the hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull. I wanted to have help as this was my first trip to the Amalfi coast. I consider the customer service the benchmark of all the hotels I have travelled in Italy in 9 years. Agnese (?) the owner chatted with us every morning at breakfast to ask if how we were doing. She called the next hotel and found made arrangements for a taxi to meet us. I was traveling with my over packed family and could not take buses. The breakfast was very good and served in beautiful room with high ceiling and fresco. There is a free luggage service but I did not use it going to the hotel. You would have to find a phone booth or have a cell phone. I thought I did not need it but although the hotel is very close to the port and bus stop, there are several steep steps to get the hotel through an alley. But the location is great and quite. The rooms are very nice. There is a small supermarket near by. I had two double rooms. One was remodeled with a new walkin bathroom but my wife and I chose the 'older' one with a balcony which was great to have lunch on after buying food at market. The older room is quite modern and nice. The difference is the newer room has a spacious walkin bathroom instead of the usual shower with sliding enclosure. Both both rooms were great. Highly recommended especially if you don't speak Italian and want advice about the area. Thank you for a pleasant stay Angnese.

Think 12th century surroudings - the exterior walls date to 1100AD. The location, ambience, luxurious dining room and hugely helpful staff compementary luggage service from the parking garage. This is the best. Only adverse comment was 1 daughter who felt the trundler bed was marginal given room was sold as 'quad'.

the woman who runs the floridiana was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. the room where breakfast was served was so beautiful and the individual rooms where spacious and clean. you also can't beat the location in the middle of amalfi but off a very quiet alleyway.

I chose this hotel because of the many positive critiques on this site. From my experience, the comments posted are accurate and this is a great place to stay in Amalfi. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made you feel like family. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The breakfast in the morning is nice and in a relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is beautifully renovated and has a very cozy and warm feeling. Amalfi is close to other towns on the coast which are accesible by boat or bus. Both modes of transportaion are within a few minutes walk from the hotel. Overall we had a great time at Floridiana and we look forward to staying here next summer!

My family (7 adults) stayed at the Floridiana for 2 nights in July 2008. We were very happy with the quality of the rooms and service. Location was excellent. About 25 steps above the square off a small alleyway. Very central, but still quiet. The owner/manager Agnese was very friendly and helpful (she arranged to have our baggage delivered to the pier when we departed by ferry, helped with beach towels and directions to nearby towns, she also spoke excellent English), and the hotel was very easy to find from her emailed directions. The rooms were clean, large and well furnished. The only negative was the construction in the courtyard (though we didn't notice much noise, it was a little messy). Also, it'd be nice if they had 'extra long' cots for their taller guests (we had a triple and a quad room, which both included a cot as one of the beds). The rooms were still very comfortable and reasonably priced, and the pluses of the location, staff, and yummy breakfast (in the breakfast room with a beautiful original fresco ceiling!!), far outwieghed any negatives. We hope to come back and will definitely recommend the Floridiana to friends. I also highly recommend the Marina Grande restaurant at the beach. It was the best food we had in a 14 day trip through Italy. I highly recommend the seafood linguine.

This was an excellent hotel for the price. The double room was very spacious, the decor sandard was faultless and the bathroom was of 5 star quality. All staff were very friendly. On the day we left there was no problem in having breakfast at 7 AM even though the normal start time is 7.30AM. Car garaging is free, is also in the old town within 200 metres of the hotel. There is a small beach close bye (300 metres)and the hire of sun bed at 5 euro per person per day is a must and good value. If swimming the area is very suitable but for swimmers only, as you are out of your depth nearly from the time you enter the water. Lifeguards are on duty. This was our first time to Amalfi and we can recommend it highly, particularly the old town with its history, old buildings, narrow streets and most importantly the Italian people. They were without exception most friendly.

From Antonio's warm and helpful greeting at our late check in to our delicious breakfasts in the beautiful dining room to our incredible hostess, Agnes - we give Floridiana a two thumbs up! Hotel Floridiana surpassed our expectations. For a couple on a budget, this property was in our range and provided more quality and service than places we paid more for. Hotel Owner/Manager Agnes truly knows what attention to detail and customer service really is and strives to anticipate client's needs as well as provide solutions to any problems that may arise. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast.

service is incredible. The reason we stayed at this hotel was the prior evaluations done by other travelers. It has been one of the most pleasant hotel experiences.

A lovely hotel, Agnese, the owner, is very nice. We stayed in room 104-excellent in every way, spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom & the room had a mezzanine floor with jacuzzi bath & lounge area. Breakfast is lovely & more importantly served with a smile. Both Agnese & her staff are very welcoming & very helpful. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel- great location & great value. Hopefully someday we will return. MB Ireland

The Floridiana has an excellent location and is 50 yards from Amalfi's Duomo. It seems to be part of a Palazzo and the interior restoration for the rooms and hallways are wonderfully done. The outside of the building and the breakfast room need additional effort. The breakfast buffet is small but with very fresh pastries. Amalfi is small and the Floridiana is near wonderful restaurants like Da Gemma (excellent!) and Maccus.

The owner could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Our room was absolutely stunning with a mezzanine floor for our daughter and a jacuzzi. Huge windows overlooking lovely courtyard with direct view towards the Duomo. The room was tastefully decorated and finished to a very high standard. I wanted to take the bathroom home with me! Breakfast in the beautiful dining room was a real treat. I only wish we'd booked for longer. We would love to go back. Only caveat is that access to the hotel could be tricky for those with limited mobility - with a climb up several sets of steps. But the hotel staff are eager to help in any way they can.

Wonderful, wonderful experience! The staff are very freindly and helpful. The owner, Agnes, is so informative, friendly, makes you feel like her personal guest. Always available for recommendations, directions, etc. The location is in the heart of town. The only concern would be the steps to get to the hotel. The staff are very willing to help with luggage, but someone would have to walk up to let them know you were there.

Located amidst the stairs and walkways that are the "streets" of Amalfi is this small (10-15 rooms) gem. The Floridiana is an old structure recently converted into a hotel. The tile work, woodwork and cabinetry of the renovation are marvelous, all done under the watchful eye of Agnese, the proprietress. More marvelous was the hospitality of the staff - Agnese, Maria-Rosa et. al. Gracious, warm, knowledgeable, friendly, skilled, helpful - only scratch the surface. Maybe the round of hugs at our departure is more descriptive.

The stay in the hotel was one of the highlights of our tour. The staff were most welcoming, the room – complete with upstairs area and balcony – was superb and the location – close to the centre but quiet and secluded – was perfect. The hotel is in an old ducal palace and the bed rooms were all renovated in 2004. This has been done in a modern style but very tastefully. Fortunately the 17th century dining room has been kept as it was, complete with frescoed ceiling. The breakfast (fruit, croissant, rolls, with a selection of spreads, cake, juice, coffee or tea of choice) was also excellent, and each morning Agnes, the owner, came by and chatted to us to make sure everything was OK. They also have quite a lot of information available in a bookcase in the dining room. We were able to borrow a couple of walking maps which we used to hike to Ravello and back, and walk up the Valley of the Mills. This may be a 3* hotel but it felt more like a 4*. If we return to Amalfi, we’ll certainly come back here. See www.hotelfloridiana.it

This is a gem---hidden away behind the main street but reasonably quiet. Close to all amenities and a choice of excellent restaurants. The staff at the hotel were superb. There is a genuine warmth from everyone. From help finding things to do on rainy days, to providing guide books to Pompeii, there was always a personal touch. We would recommend restaurants called Maccus which is along the back streets behind the hotel, Perla Pizzeria which is along the backstreets on the other side of the road, and most definitely Marina Grande on the sea front. I would advise everyone to stay away from the restaurant Barraccus, it was awful. For a personal touch and real quality of service, Hotel Floridiana should be your choice.

Hotel is nice, it's got a lovely breakfast room with original fresco ceiling. Rooms very clean and quite spacious. However, the major 'wow' factor is the friendliness and knowledge of the owner and her staff. They go out of their way to help, whether offering advice on local transport or organising complete day trips. It was a pleasure to stay at a quality hotel where the staff care, rather than the usual modern chain 'Mchotels'.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! It was our first time at Amalfi and our stay at Floridiana was wonderful. The hotel is situated only metres away from the Duomo, shops and resturants. We stayed in room number 7 which has a little balcony up the top of the room where we enjoyed a drink in the afternoon. The breakfast was lovely and the breakfast room amazing! My Girlfriend and I stayed at the Floridiana in Amalfi for 5 nights at the end of June 07. The astonishing beauty of the Amalfi coast was only enhanced by the wonderful and helpful staff at the Floridiana Hotel. The hotel is a modest and friendly little place tucked in amoungst the beautiful streets of Amalfi town, a stones throw from all the bars and restaurants that you could possibly want and a 2 minute walk from the stunning harbor. With two friends I stayed at Hotel Floridiana for 4 nights in June, 2007. Agnese, in particular, and her staff were absolutely wonderful from the first moment. We overshot the hotel and found ourselves at the wrong end of the very crowded 'pedestrian only' street. No trouble - the sent someone to drive our car back, carried our luggage to our rooms, took our car to the garage and sat us down with a nice cool drink. They sent emails, made phone calls - nothing was too much trouble - and all to do with our next hotel in Rome and our leased French car!! When she saw we were going to the beach she offered beach towels! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location is great (as long as you don't want a view) - it's like an oasis in the middle of a teeming mass of tourists, close to the boat & bus terminals for all sightseeing needs as well as surrounded by shops & restaurants. A very old historical building with a beautiful dining room serving a lovely, very adequate breakfast. The bedrooms are large & tastefully furnished with very modern clean bathrooms. I had stayed in Amalfi twice before, but this hotel is definitely THE ONE!

An excellent hotel, with very modern rooms including AC. An excellent continental breakfast was served each morning of our stay. Charming dining room from days gone bye. A place to park your car that is secure. The hotel is situated in the center of Amalfi, excellent location. The owner and staff were very helpful in directing us to sites and places to visit. Good restaurants close by. A ferry service direct to Capri, worth the visit. The drive along the Amalfi coast is challenging and exciting, loved every km and minute of the drive to Sorento/Positano. The Floridiana Hotel is a small first class facility in Amalfi. Highly recommended.

The hotel was perfectly situated in the small town of Amalfi, and tucked away, amidst the busy main street. The salon area, where breakfast is served, is a beautiful, vaulted ceiling room, furnished with beautiful ceramics and artwork. The breakfasts offered a greater variety of foods than most of our other hotel stays. Agnes, our host, was most helpful with any of our needs and travel questions. We heartily recommend the Floridiana to those travelers who want to stay in historical accomodations. Great location, great hospitality, and great price, which includes parking, a huge bonus!!

The hotel is located in the center of town. Although our room was not on the main street, it was a bit noisy at night. The most annoying noises were coming from the construction done in the same building, starting around 7:30 in the morning. As we were there to visit, this did not bother us very much. Overall, an exceptional place, very well situated with a more than helpful lady fluent in many languages.

This was a great small hotel which was a fantastic value for its location and quality of service. It is a short walk to the beachfront, but is set back in the town and away from noisy crowds. There were some loud church bells on Sunday morning, but nothing more than in the usual Italian town. The free parking was easy and efficient. The owner greeted us personally at breakfast, inquired about our stay and seemed genuinely interested in our comments. She also spoke excellent English. The rooms were very large by Italian standards and very clean. I was also impressed by the fact that (yes, this is small thing, but it made a very positive impression on me) the minibar prices were actually just a fraction higher than what you'd pay in a store. It was very nice to have the option of taking a bottle of water out of the minibar and NOT paying a 300% markup like you do at many hotels.

This place was absolutely wonderful. Very big, bright, spotless rooms, right in the heart of Amalfi, and with free parking! The staff were amazing and went out of their way to help us, even preparing our breakfast early for us when we had to leave early for our flight. This was a wonderful end to our honeymoon and I would highly recommend it.

Our best hotel expeience on the Amalfi coast by far. Excellent location in the lower part of the town of Amalfi - right next to the magnificent duomo and main square. Apparently at one time was actually connected with the church (biship's residence?). Accordingly, no "panoramic views" of the coastline if this is important (we were happy with the trade off). Some steps to get to the hotel entrance. Easy acess to buses and docks for further activities along the coast beyond the town itself. Rooms were large, tastefully well appointed and impeccable. Hotel staff was superb - friendly, competent and helpful. They went way out of their way to help us on some trip logistics which had nothing to do with our stay with them per se and we remain very grateful. Don't know the star rating system criteria, but this for us was more a (good) four star boutique hotel rather than the actual three star rating. Limited number of rooms, although apparently the hotel is expanding within the existing building structure. In the context of a trip with some real hotel disappointments, La Floridiana was a very positive experience all around and a good value to boot.

You don't get many opportunities to stay in a 900 year old building yet enjoy modern amenities, so take advantage of this one! Great central location, amazing breakfast room and really friendly service.

We were made to feel extremely welcome by the Floridiana team, all of whom were willing to answer questions and give us useful tips such as where to eat or how to get to places we wanted to visit. The hotel itself was immaculate although we were occasionally aware of other guests - a baby crying. However, this wouldn't stop us recommending this hotel to others or staying there again ourselves. It also has a free garage which is essential in Amalfi where parking spaces are at a premium. We would advise others to contact the Floridiana directly (phone/e-mail) for directions as to its location as it is up a narrow alley off the main street in Amalfi.

Centrally located in Amalfi, just a few steps to Duomo! All the good points of a family-run hotel: friendly atomosphere and staff. I gladly recommend this hotel to any friends of mine. The restaurants they recommend was really good.

Top quality hotel in a fantastic location. After three excellent but tiring days in rome it was a welcome treat to arrive in such a wonderfully relaxed area as Amalfi and this excellent hotel enhanced an already fantastic stay. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Amalfi.

What a wonderful hotel! The rooms were very nicely done and modern, and the staff was wonderful. They held breakfast for us as we were late after hiking to Ravello (we just planned to skip eating but they went way out of their way and had a table and food waiting). They were probably the best hosts I've had in Italy (3 years in residence and a decade traveling there). The only tricky part was getting the car into the garage as the town square was closed when we arrived and we had to wait about 15 minutes. After that the street is one way - alternating directions so it is essential that you wait at the light near the stairs for the hotel until it is "your turn". The breakfast room is fabulous - great ceiling! A very reasonable price and awesome location in the heart of Amalfi. Having parking is a must in Amalfi during the summer so the included garage was essential.

The staff at Hotel Floridiana was very helpful and friendly. The air conditioning was better than any we had on our trip, which was nice given the July temperatures. The outside walls were a couple of feet thick stone, which made for a very quiet room. Very spacious.

You will never choose a better hotel than this if you like small hotels. 50m from central square 100m from the beach Impeccably clean, Truly multi-lingual with the freindliest staff I have ever met! The rooms are exquisite and the dining room is spectacular. You will definately not regret choosing this hotel. Apart from that Amalfi is pretty impressive also!

Would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Floridiana after our stay in Jun06. Agnese & her colleagues were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is really well located just a stones throw from Amalfi's main square and minutes from the beach/harbour. Really enjoyed breakfast in the stunning dining room. No lounge or bar facilities which was fine by us as lots of restaurants/cafes nearby. Recommend the mini-cruise from the harbour - a day along the Amalfi coast with 4 hrs on Capri. Local bus rides south very hairy, we preferred travelling by boat. Loved Positano. If you're into gardens Villa Cimbrone at Ravello is lovely. Also enjoyed more spacious beaches just north of Amalfi reached easily by bus to Salerno in 10 - 15 mins.

The hotel manager, Agnese, was extremely pleasant and helpful, as were all the other staff. They sent an e-mail explaining the need for a car permit in the town centre. The hotel is very central but not easy to get to, like so many places in Amalfi, as it is up steps through a narrow passageway. The garage is some distance away, up the main street where traffic is one-way controlled by lights. The interior of the hotel is glorious, with a superb painted ceiling in the breakfast room.

We can highly recommend this place ! If you are looking for quiet, clean and spacious hotel in the heart of Amalfi, you will be highly satisfied. Travelling now to Italy for more than 30 years, we have to point out, that rarely you will find such a warmhearted, kind, interested and sympathetic attitude in the centre of a region with a comparable touristic importance.

Amalfi was only made more wonderful by our stay at the La Floridiana. Travelling with our son, "Arturo" (17 months) was like arriving with royalty. A very family friendly place and close to the piazza. Our favorite stay in Italia and the price was nice, as was the weather. Bella vita

We recently returned from a fantastic visit to the Floridiana Hotel! Thank you to the manageress for making our stay so splendid! She was extremely helpful in orienting us to the area and its many attractions and making us feel welcome and at home at the hotel. The manageress took the time to answer all our questions about the area, the hotel building (an amazing historical beauty), where to eat, what to see, etc. We are a family of four and were extremely pleased with the accommodation arrangements. The rooms were immaculate - very clean and recently renovated. The dining room is positively splendid with ancient frescos on the ceiling and walls. The hotel is in a prime location, neatly tucked away to feel private, yet only a few steps away from the main square of Amalfi - we couldn't have asked for more! All in all, I cannot speak highly enough about the hotel and its management. We will definitely be returning to stay at the Floridiana Hotel!

The Floridiana B&B is a gem of a place, tucked away in a palazzo in Amalfi. The room was lovely, service friendly, breakfast excellent, and the owner truly charming. This is a place where you can relax, enjoy Amalfi and the lovely surrounding coast, and feel at home. We hope to return there in the not too distant future.

A very pleasant surprise in the heart of Amalfi. Beautifull room spacious. Nr 7 has a nice terrace outside so you can enjoy the night. Quality is very good and helpfullness of staff wonderfull. In short we really enjoyed our stay over there and can recomand it to any one. What should be better is the map of Amalfi. Its locatedjust next to the kathedral and it looks as though its on a street but its no street at all.

We stayed at the Floridiana for four days and I cannot recommed this hotel highly enough. It is incredibly central, tucked down a side lane just off the main square. Our bedroom was large and spotless with a perfect bathroom. Everything had been thought of, from ample towels to a little bowl of sweets by the bed. The public areas are stunning especially the breakfast room, the painted ceiling has to be seen to be believed. But it is the employees that so impressed me about this hotel. The Manageress is lovely. She helped us with everything we asked from advice on changing money to booking our transfer back to the airport. We were in Amalfi for a family wedding and she told us about the church, admired our outfits and watched indulgently as we stole a flower from her garden for Jamie's buttonhole! A special mention for the night manager too who showed concern as I told him how travel sick I felt after a night journey from the airport. Please book this hotel, it is an absolute delight. p.s And you don't even need an alarm clock as the cathedral bells start at 7am every morning!

This hotel was absolutely magnificent - the best place we stayed in 5 weeks in Italy. The rooms were large, spacious and modern, air conditioning that works, a bathroom that was bigger than some hotel rooms, quiet, great location just behind the duomo in Amalfi (but no noise from the bells), generous breakfast with fresh croissants every day (they had run out one day and the owner popped out to buy more for us), juice, coffee, meat, cheese, bread and best of all, Kelloggs cornflakes, the only decent cornflakes I ate in Italy. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, and all the staff were like this, it wasn't just a one off. This hotel was consistently fantastic over a 6 day stay - I would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Amalfi and won't hesitate to tell everyone I know to stay there if they're in Amalfi.

A wonderful find. A small hotel in an old building tucked away in the side streets of Amalfi but with large modern rooms & bathrooms. The small rota of staff including the owner were very welcoming and helpful. The only slight drawback was no outdoor public space or balcony but the hotel was extremely close to the main street and beach.

Not only was this Hotel spotless and very beautiful the service was out of this world. If your traveling to the Amalfi coast this location is very central. It was right in the middle of Amalfi but also nice and quiet due to it being set back from the road. The hotel manager went beyond the call of duty on several occassions. She was very helpful in recommending some great locations for us to visit and all the staff very friendly. It was essential to have parking and this hotel had a private garage.Anybody visiting Amalfi should look no further than this Hotel and we will be using it again.

How to reach Hotel Floridiana

By car
IMPORTANT:
Because the hotel is located in a limited traffic zone, guests arriving by car will need to contact the hotel prior to arrival to receive an entry permit.
As you enter the town of Amalfi, continue along the coast to a small roundabout in front of the harbour, where a narrow entrance leads to Piazza del Duomo (it may be necessary to display your entry permit to gain access). On the right side of the piazza (square), just after the traffic lights, look out for a narrow arch way on the right. It is a good idea to drop luggage off here before proceeding to the garage (call the hotel in advance if you require assistance). To reach the garage, proceed uphill for around 200 metres to the end of the shopping strip. Hotel Floridiana's garage is located on the right hand side, just before the road enters a tunnel. Look out for four large green garage doors, and the hotel's parking attendant, Gianluca.
