Wonderful hotel in the centre of Amalfi. The staff are incredible. I travel a lot and have rarely met such a genuine welcome. Antonella and Gabriella are so helpful and professional. They are two gems :-) The breakfast was the best I had on this trip to Italy. My special request for gluten free bread was accommodated. This hotel will not disappoint if you choose to stay here.

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time at L'Antico Convitto. The staff was so awesome, friendly and service oriented, especially Antonella and Ferdinando! They both made us really smile about being in such a magical town. The hotel is located a short walk from the town square and waterfront. An easy walk from the bus or ferry depending on how you are arriving. I definitely recommend the hotel for a short stay. We stayed two nights and that was perfecto!

We were given a very warm welcome by Antionella (sp?) She made our check-in and baggage handling effortless! The breakfasts were a definite stand-out..the best of all the places in our 2 week Italian trip. I would highly recommend this place...wonderful location, great service. My only complaint would be the smallish rooms (#112, #114) and the air conditioning wasn't really working up to par.

Just returned (Oct 10, 2013) from a fantastic stay at this hotel - the hotel location is absolutely perfect relative to visiting the entire Amalfi coast. The entire staff at L'Antico are superlative, along with proximity to restaurants and all forms of transport (Bus, Ferry etc). Amalfi town in my opinion is by far the nicest town, offering a little of everything (best of everything). Easy access to all other Amalfi towns both West and East of Amalfi town. A must stay and explore town. I would definitely stay and visit this Hotel and town in the future.

Had a wonderful stay. Travelling with adult children. The welcome from Ferdinando and all the staff was unbelievable. Very good breakfast. Excellent position close to everything. The only downside was the noise outside very early in the morning. Street cleaning etc. But the positives far outweigh the negatives. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

The Hotel L'Antico Convitto is centrally located in Amalfi, close to the very famous ancient cathedral. From the Hotel there is a short walking distance to the harbor where from you can reach Positano, Capri, Sorrento, Salerno etc. The bus station is also nearby enabling you to take a short ride to Ravello a marvelous place where the composer Richard Wagner got the inspiration for his opera "Parsifal". The Hotel is very nice, quiet and clean with a staff of great hospitality. Our three weeks stay at the Hotel L' Antico Convitto was a great experience. The hotel is very recommendable.

We travelled as a family with 2 children and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Located just a few minutes walk for Napoli Centrale train station, this hotel is perfect if all you're looking for is somewhere to sleep while you spend your days (and nights!) enjoying the delights of Naples. We were given a warm welcome by the owner and her daughter. Our room was quite basic, but clean and comfortable. Most importantly it had aircon, which was much needed on a hot night. I can't really comment on the breakfast, as we only had time to grab a coffee before we had to rush off to catch our flight. All in all the hotel suited our needs, and I would probably choose to stay here again if I were to spend just a day or 2 in Naples again.

This is the best hotel to stay at on the Amalfi Coast. The rooms are excellent, the views from the Terrace fantastic and breakfasts are yummy. But, what makes this hotel really special is the staff. They are helpful in all ways and work to make sure that everything is perfect. Gabriella was terrific as was the rests of the staff. I would not stay anywhere else!

Excellent breakfast included with lots to choose from, fruits, fresh pastries, meats and cheeses, hard boiled eggs, fresh squeezed OJ, fresh coffee/tea, and they provided trays so you could take it up to the rooftop terrace and enjoy it overlooking the amalfi coast. Terrace was clean with comfortable outdoor lounge chairs with thick cushions. Rooms were clean and beautiful, my parents were upgraded to a suite for free. Location was excellent, a stones throw from the main square and a 5 minute walk from the ferry dock and beach. There was a modern elevator, as well. We requested a crib in advance and they had it waiting for us upon arrival. They also offered free porter service to bring your luggage down to the docks. 24 hour concierge who had excellent recommendations and would make reservations for meals. We were awoken by a noisy family next door, that is the fault of the parents who let their kids run screaming down the hall at 6am, not the hotel, though.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel L'Antico Convitto. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the breakfast had a very good variety of breads, meats, fruits and even soft boiled eggs plus excellent cappucino served with a smile! Antonella at the front desk and the owner Gabriella were overwhelmingly pleasant and helpful as were all the service staff. The location was very central and we loved the ambience of our room facing the street. We would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Amalfi! You have to get lost wandering the streets high above the town to really appreciate Amalfi! Bring good walking shoes.

Hotel is located in very convenient place to walk about to find restaurants, shops and transportation points and hotel staffs are very freindly. However we had an impression for this hotel as a B&B, not 3 star hotel for a Japanese. If under mentioned are provided, it will be helpful and real excellent; 1) Tissue papers as no tissue papers 2) Chairs to sit for teas. 3) Mirror to see in the bedroom. 4) More baggage stand space since the room was for triple. All others are excellent.

This hotel is wonderfully situated in Amalfi. It is near the main square and yet it is quiet at night. The staff are amazing at this hotel. They are extremely friendly and helpful and are even prepared to help with information on travelling to other towns from Amalfi. We had a problem with the aircon and they immediately sorted it out. This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel and their service is brilliant. They do a great breakfast and they have a wonderful rooftop area where you can eat your breakfast. We also bought lunch and ate it at this area. They really care about their guests and that is why I will stay at this hotel again if I visit Amalfi.

I cannot fault the friendliness and service of staff at all times - the reception staff were excellent and could not do enough to help us. My only complaint is I did not think the room was particularly clean, and the smell was absolutely awful. Even after 4 days of staying there and spraying perfume etc, we could not get rid of the smell, particularly the bathroom. It made me feel sick every time I walked in the room - I have no idea what it was but it was not pleasant.

We stayed at Hotel L’Antico Convitto in Amalfi for three nights in May, and loved our time there. This is a wonderful find. The staff were fantastically helpful and friendly - giving us maps and suggestions of great walks, booking restaurants for us, helping us sort out local transport - and generally having interesting conversations. The room was lovely, with a view of the Duomo tower and upper façade. They emailed a very helpful map of how to find the place before we got there. This was one of the best places we stayed in Italy, and we would happily return there.

Gabrielle is the sweetest and patiently answered all of our questions. The room was spotless and well furnished and the shower was great. We woke every morning to the beautiful sound of church bells. Don't miss Ravello...spectacular. We walked back from Ravello to Amalfi and the views were breathtaking. L'Antico Convitto is a real bargain! Can't wait to return.

The owner (Sinor e Sinora)were very kind and have bright personality. They also have a good taste in interior decoration. Amalfi was to be the chill spot in our Italy sojourn and hence crucial that we have a nice room n hotel. We went for the Junior Suite with an open Jacuzzi in the room. It was a dream come true - the jacuzzi being in the room did wonders and was very large (for 2 people). The staff makes you feel like royalty and were the best we got in our entire trip. L'Anticco Convitto was better than expected. The junior suite I stayed at (the hotel has only 10 rooms) was spacious, the front desk was most helpful, the ingenious system for handling your luggage worked perfectly and the nearby garage was also a plus in a town where there is only one street to walk by. I don't often write these reviews but I'm making an exception because of the service and friendliness of the staff at L'Antico Convitta. We are a mature couple used to travelling. We stayed for 9 days in a large double room (#7). There were no great views from the Hotel but it was very clean, well maintained and it had very easy access to all parts of the Amalfi Coast. We were there in late March 2009 and the weather was mild, very good for walking and sightseeing. We could get anywhere we wanted without being hindered by crowds, including Positano, Ravello, Sorrento, Pompei and Salerno. The road between Amalfi and Paiano was blocked for a week by a landfall. This meant an unscheduled walk when heading towards Sorrento but we were given daily reports from one of the Hotel staff and lots of good advice about alternative routes and options for visits. It also meant that we were able to use the sea ferry between Amalfi and Positano - it usually doesn't run until Easter, but an emergency service operated. We suggest coming from Naples airport via Salerno as the cheapest and most comfortable option. Airport bus (Älibus") from the airport to the main train station (3 euros), Train to Salerno (1.80 euros) and SITA bus (Amalfi) from outside the station (1.30 euros). The drive along the coast road is spectacular - but 30 - 45 minutes is enough. We reversed the route to get to Pompei, and walked from the new Pompei station, rather than taking the circumvesusianna from Sorrento. We went from Amalfi to Capri by bus (2.50) and ferry (9.80) but in summer the ferry goes from Amalfi to Capri and would be a great alternative. Back to the staff. The hotel is family owned and they have a great pride in and knowledge of Amalfi. The staff is very well versed in personal service and it is obvious that they recognise its importance to their business.

This was a great property and the staff could not have been more helpful, especially with transportation information and suggested activities in Amalfi. Somewhat difficult to find due to construction in the alley. Would not hesitate to recommend to others.

This is a nice little hotel at the fourth floor of a historical building. The hotel is merely in the center and the receptionist was very nice to handle everything. The only problem is that we had to pay 20 Euro/night to a private parking, and that is part of the game if you stay right in the heart of a place like Amalfi.

Very good and quiet hotel in the centre of Amalfi. Our staying there was excellent; any question found a competent and precise answer. Quality versus price is very high

We had a great stay at Amalfi. No trouble finding the hotel, even though we walked passed it a little, we just asked a shop keeper on the street and she took us directly to the hotel entrance. Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the old town, and would recommend it to anyone. Wonderful old building tastefully renovated. Friendly staff who were very helpful.

Staying at L'Antico Convitto is like being part of a welcoming, warm family! The staff are extremely competent and helpful, consistently going above and beyond to ensure you have a good stay and arrive safely to your next destination. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the luxurious multi-jet shower was truly a treat! The breakfast is an ample buffet. This hotel is conveniently located near the main plaza, only 3 minutes to the beach. If you're planning a visit to Amalfi, L'Antico Convitto is the place to stay!

Beautiful hotel in a great location in the heart of Amalfi. These were some of the most spacious hotel rooms I've stayed in in Italy. They were tastefully decorated, and both mine and my parents' room had fabulous views. The large bathrooms had wonderful showers with great water pressure. The staff was very child-friendly. Breakfast was fine. The only drawback was the bells from the nearby Duomo rang a little earlier in the morning (around 7:30) than I'd have liked, but that's the price we pay for the phenomenal location. I thought this hotel offered a great value. The hotel is on the 4th floor of a multi-use building up a narrow alley from the main street. We were a little apprehensive as we approached the hotel and its antiquated (but perfectly adequate and even a little exciting) elevator. Once we got to the hotel, all our concerns were erased as we received a warm welcome. Try Trattoria San Giuseppe in the alleys across the main street from the hotel-- the paccheri con crostacei was phenomenal.

This hotel is right off the main street, steps from the cathedral, in a quiet building with a lift. It was literally 5 minutes' walk from the SITA bus stop/port area to the hotel, and the map emailed to us by the hotel was VERY helpful & accurate. Francesca greeted us warmly, in perfect English, and was so helpful with her recommendations, she basically planned our entire stay on the Amalfi Coast! We were upgraded to a superior double for no charge, and had a spectacular view of the cathedral from our window. Would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Amalfi!

L'Antico Convitto was a welcome oasis of peace and quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of Amalfi. The staff were very attentive and were always around for an assistance. Only minor down side is the stairs up to the hotel; there are a lot, but there is a small lift. If i ever returned to Amalfi on holiday L'Antico Convitto would be where i would stay.

This hotel was excellent. We are a family of 4 traveling with two small children, ages 2 and 4. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our hotel was in an excellent location close to everything; breakfast was nice; and the staff was so pleasant. The room included air conditioning and it is very close to the central bus station and ferries. We would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling to the area.

I would definitely go there again. The staff were wonderful, the location perfect and the room was very nice. Just be careful to the fridge. Even though they won't admit it I had the suspicious that when we were out of the room all the electricity was switched off, included the fridge and in summertime it is not nice to go back to hot cans of coke!!! but for the rest perfect!!!

This hotel lived up to all the positive comments already made. Do not let the journey from the street to the hotel entrance which is on the third floor put you off; hidden gems like this only exist because they are so well hidden and disguised.

Kaiken kaikkiaan ehdottoman kaunis huone. Myös suihkuvarustukseen oli satsattu viimeisen päälle. Tarkkana täytyy olla että löytää oikean kujan sisäänpääsyyn vaikka hyvät kartat ovatkin.

very nice hotel - our room was recently refurbished. Unfortunately very loud from the street outside, especially every morning at 7am with the church bells ringing, and the locals shouting in the street outside most mornings at 6am. Quite easy to find and Amalfi is a gorgeous area.

Perfect location in the centre of Amalfi and the hotel was welcoming and clean. Rooms were nice size. Given central location, we expected it to be noisy, but with the windows closed and the air conditioning on, it was almost silent. Staff were very helpful before and during our stay. Overall, lovely place to stay in a lovely city/coast.

By far the best place I've stayed during my 8 days vacation in Italy...placed in the middle of Amalfi, I even had a view on the sea. When I had a question, thru the Internet I was answered promptly and in French on top of it (I'm french speaking). Personnel are all so very kind, caring, breakfast was awesome and the price was better than what I was expecting to pay. I strongly recommend this place to everybody for the best vacation ever. Thanks for the good advices.

The location of Hotel L'Antico Convitto was superb! You are right in the centre of Amalfi, which incidently is a great location to tour around the coast from. The staff are friendly and they make a mean cappucino for breakfast! Room was clean and spacious. We stayed in a roon which had been recently renovated and it was certainly well done. Especially the shower! The only downside is that because of the central location, you will hear quite a bit of noise. Especially from the closeby Duomo which sounds its bells on regular occasions.

Very nice!!! Locations is wonderful and price very convenient. The only small problem (but it is not hotel's fault!) is the car parking: absolutely necessary in Amalfi, calculate 18 euros per day more. Breakfast was a little bit hectic.

I was not sure what to expect after staying in some other hotels at this same price range, and wow was I pleasantly surprised! The owner Gabriella was so friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English, as well as Francesca the other daytime clerk. The hotel is in the midst of remodeling and decorating and will soon have more rooms and an outdoors dining space. The room I was in was recently redone with a beautiful bathroom, new tiles on the floors as well as the walls. It was a very nice room. The breakfast had a good selection of foods and good cappucino (our group wore out the machine!) The location is excellent for the town of Amalfi, just up the main road from the piazza and a gentle incline, not a hike. There is a supermarket on the main floor of the building which is very convenient for water, soda, etc. The rooms also have a mini fridge to keep things cool. I was so happy to have this hotel after some scary experiences in the previous destination. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a relaxing, comfortable hotel. It is not a 5 star property, but I enjoyed my whole experience. The staff knows you after the first day and that is rare these days. You will have a great vacation if you stay here!

We loved our stay at L'Antico Convitto, it was our favorite hotel in Italy. We rented the family room which had plenty of room for five adults. This was the perfect hotel for our family. The location was an easy walk from the bus, the kitchen was useful, the room was pleasant and quiet, the breakfast provided was great, the staff was very helpful and considerate and the price was very reasonable. We would definitely come again. I would advise other travelers to get specific directions since the sign for the hotel is very small and it is off the main street down a tiny short alley inside a building with another hotel also located inside.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The hotel is just around the corner from the Duomo. May not be the quietest location, especially in summer, but it is so central and the traffic is limited anyway. Junior suite had a lovely big bath with jacuzzi.
