About Hotel Amalfi

exterior - entrance Hotel Amalfi exterior - entrance The exclusive hotel Amalfi is located in one of the most suggestive spots of the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by splendid Mediterranean vegetation.

The property is centrally located, a few metres from the famous Arab-Normand style Dome, with the square and its impressive staircase; the harbour connecting the city with the other coast towns is also nearby.

The property is therefore the ideal choice for those looking for an unforgettable holiday in a matchless seaside setting.

The location of the hotel was perfect....just off the main street, yet very quiet (except for the church bells). The staff was amazing!! When the trains went on strike they were very helpful in cancelling hotel reservations for us and making new ones. They were charming and very helpful. Great hotel.

My husband, son and I were delighted with our stay at the Hotel Amalfi. The location was excellent, very centrally located and we were relieved that they also provided parking. Our room and bathroom were charmingly decorated and we even had our own little patio. The breakfast buffet was more than ample and was served either in the sunny and spacious breakfast room or on the balcony overlooking Amalfi. The hotel staff was awesome, especially Signora Paula, who helped us get our passports back from our B & B in Naples! She also made excellent recommendations for dining and tours. We would highly recommend Hotel Amalfi and would love to go back!

The hotel is an excellent little find! Fantastic location right in the centre of Amalfi. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely. Only criticism would be that the quad room that was booked seemed a bit small for 2 adults/2 children with luggage. However, the location more than made up for it, as we only slept/showered and changed in the room. The towels were like table cloths, instead of towelling, which seemed a bit strange. But they served their purpose. Would definitely go to the same hotel and recommend it to others too.

The Hotel Amalfi is run very professionally by a local family. All the staff is accommodating and helpful. The place is tucked away on a pretty, narrow street, near the town center yet quiet and restful. Our room was in the garden, with a balcony overlooking flowers and lemon trees. The hotel's own restaurant serves tasty food and good local wine, and shopping and touring are an easy walk away. We would definitely return to this hotel.

This is a very well-run hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. We had a clean, spacious room overlooking a central courtyard full of orange trees. Good breakfasts on the top floor. The hotel has an underground carpark. A great situation in a quiet side lane very close to the bustling centre square. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money.

The hotel located in very very good area of Amalfi. It is situated in the center but it is difficult to find it. The room is very clean and quiet. However in the breakfast only one drink is included in the room price which is supprise for us. Parking is very expensive you have to pay 16 EUR additonal charge for parking per night. Anyway you do not really have an other chance to leave your car elsewhere.

This hotel is newly renovated and therfore very nice to stay. Bathrooms are especially nice. In 5 minutes of walking from transport hub (the central square of the city nearby the sea) with buses and boats. Amalfi city is not for beach lovers - beach is small and rocky (go to Minori or Mayori - about 30 min by bus).

Paola and her staff made us very welcome. The hotel is in a perfect situation not far from harbour or bus station and easy walking. The substantial buffet breakfast set you up for the day.The roof terrace is a perfect spot to watch the moon rise over the mountains. With many varied restaurants close by it was for us a perfect stop for 4 nights. Good location and the room is very clean. I think it's a little too pricey. I was given a doulbe room instead of a single so I was asked to pay cash for the room for their mistake and which i think it's weird. One can hear people at the reception and passers-by talking within the room... so not at all too quiet.

Before staying at Hotel Amalfi we had spent 5 weeks in Italia and had stayed in many hotels. The hotel Amalfi was by far the best for the price we paid. The room and bathroom were brand new when compared to other hotels we had stayed in, the staff friendly and helpful and the location was quiet considering it was only 20m to the main street. We spent 6 nights there and would be happy to return again.

Hotel Amalfi Almost 30 years ago I travelled Italy for almost a year. Amalfi was love at first sight, and I settled down in Amalfi for more than a month. I've been talking about the beauty of the Amalfi Coast ever since, wishing to go back some day, and during April 2007 it was time again. Together with a friend of mine we planned a trip to the South of Italy, Rome, Caserta, Napoli, Sorrento and Amalfi, with Amalfi as the main stay. On Venere.com we found Hotel Amalfi, a choise which seemed to be most perfect. The busride from Sorrento give you a stunning view at the Amalfi Coast. When the bus stop by the small harbour you have Amalfi right there in front of you. Situated by the seaside in a narrow canyon the buildings climbs the mountainside, and a few meters from the harbour, a few steps away from the mainstreet, you'll find Hotel Amalfi. A nice comfortable hotel, newly renovated, perfect and quiet situated and with the most helpful and friendly staff. Our nice and spacious room on the 4th floor were easily reached by the lift, and opening the blinds we had the most wonderful surprise. Just outside the window were a lovely garden with flowers, orange- and lemontrees and a view up the mountainside and the narrow alleys of Amalfi right in the backyard. Furthermore, the breakfast restaurant and bar on the 5th floor had the most wonderful view to the campanile and the famous cathedral and the tileroofs of the old townhouses. Meaningless to say we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Now, as then, Amalfi was the perfect starting point for our trips up along the beautiful coast, and the amazing busrides up the mountains to Scala and Ravello. For sure, Hotel Amalfi will be our first choice next time we go to this wonderful part of Italy.

We stayed in Amalfi for 6 days, the last was at Hotel Amalfi. The entire time we stayed in Amalfi it rained. However, the day we stayed at Hotel Amalfi, that hotel lost power during the storm and afterwards. The hotel did not have power yet every home, restaurant and hotel around us did.

Hotel Amalfi was a great place to stay. Despite being in the centre of the town, the nights were quiet in the room. Buying aircon is a must and is a bargain at 10 euros per night. Service was excellent at all times and you always got a friendly face when any probles arose. Recommended to anyone - but as with the rest of Amalfi, get used to walking up and down stairs!!

The hotel is ok. But I did not like the following things: 1.Upon our arrival we were taken to our room which appeared to be a refurbished garden house in the garden of the hotel. So we did not form part of the hotel and they were only two rooms in this little house and I felt a bit apart from the rest of the hotel. I am not sure if that was due to the price we paid or because we look young they thought they could just dump us there. The room was also a bit damp and quite cold. 2.Nobody told us we could only pay with card if we left after 8.30am. I only found out when the night porter asked me when we would leave in the morning and he said I could pay him in cash or pay the day after but after 8.30am. The problem is we would have then lost our train, the money we oaid for the ticket and about 6hours of valuable holiday time as the next rain to Sicily from Salerno would have left 6 hours later. What would have happened if I could have not withdrawn money from the cash dispenser? Overall , I am sure they are nicer, more welcoming and friendlier hotels for the same price in and around Amalfi, as I also found them in the all the other towns and resorts I went on this trip.

The hotel has an excellent location for walks around Amalfi and exploring the little lanes. It's close to the square and church. The room was lovely with a spacious bathroom and great bathtub! The room was very clean also. Unfortunately, because I visited in March, it was not quite the season to open the roof garden. It was the season to fix things up around the hotel in preparation for the busier upcoming season. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again if I return to Amalfi.

Hotel centrally placed in town of amalfi. Not friendly if you don't like steps, as you have several steps to climb with cases before getting there. Room we had didn't have air conditioning and no outside window. The only window looked onto a small balcony of the room next door. This also meant every noise could be heard. However the room was a good size and very clean. Layouit of rooms throughout hotel was confusing as we had family in other rooms and at first found ourselves quite lost.

Definitely convenient, affordable and friendly, there's enough to do in the small town of Amalfi for a day or so - the beach, windy staircases, a piazza and church, gelaterias & cafes, shopping (lemon and lemon products are one specialty here, etc. After that, there's easy access by boat or bus to the Emerald caves, other coast towns, the island of Capri, and 'gorge-ous' Ravello up in the hills. You can even walk down the 1600 steps from Ravello to Amalfi. There were many international guests, and my American friend and I ended up hanging out with a Danish woman and her Dutch boyfriend (in Italy, isn't that funny!). But what made this place most special were the friendly staff - 3 sisters and others -- that were all kind, fun and helpful. This is the kind of place to stay for a true Italian vacation!

A lovely little hotel in a perfect central position. Rooms were clean and spacious. Bathroom was particularly nice. Staff spoke good english and were helpful.

The directions to the hotel were of no value; we had to ask directions from police and others several times. Despite email requests, I never was told the cost of parking (18 euros per night) or that the rooms did not have a view of the sea. The people were friendly, and while monotonous, the breakfasts fully adequate. The main problem was the street noise - it prevented sleep, and we were forced to add the air conditioning option, not becausse it was too hot (despite being in July), but to drown out the street noise that goes on throughout the night (garbage trucks at 5am, etc.). Not sure I'd stay there again, but overall not a bad place; very convenient for Amalfi coast towns.

Friendly and amenable atmosphere, seemed to be well run. An acceptable hotel for sleeping purposes, albeit extremely noisy in the mornings. Vastly overpriced for amenities offered as are all hotels in the area. Amazed to be charged extra for air-con. Car-parking impossible to locate. Was disgusted to discover the extra amount payable to keep the car there. Then again this hotel may be the best value for money in the area, given prices at other places.

We were very disappointed with the hotel. It is advertised as a 3 star hotel which I find at least 2 stars too much. The rooms are very basic, the central heating in the bathroom was not working. This is probably not a problem during summer but in December it was too cold for comfort. Also the heating (/air conditioning) in the room seems to be automatically switch off during day time. In the evening it therefore took quite some time for the room to get a nice and comfortable temperature. The hotel staff didn't seem to be interested in their guests. No friendly smiles at the breakfast table. By the way the coffee (cafe latte, capucino or espresso) served at breakfast was the worse I drank during my 2 week stay in Italy. This hotel is certainly not value for money!

i spent 28 days in italy in oct.04 and the amalfi was the bes t value of my trip. the bathroom alone won me over; modern and roomy and a great shower. the room was large and adequately furnished and very clean. breakfast was typical italy but the terrace room where it is served is very pleasant. i would highly reccomend the amalfi

The accommodation was in keeping with the price. The breakfast was poor and we'd rather pay a little less and eat out.

My father and I really enjoyed our stay at the hotel Amalfi. The hotel is located in a picturesque street very near to the main square and all the resort amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I am thinking of using this hotel again next year as a base for my wife and I. All the main sites of the area are easily visited from Amalfi, either independently or excursions.

Ein nettes Hotel in einer Seitenstraße. Manchmal störte nur der Lärm von dem Restaurant, welches sich direkt vor unserem Fenster befand.Frühstück ist einfach- italienisch.

I found the Hotel Amalfi to be good value. It was nice to have a restaurant in the hotel and that breakfast was included in the price. The staff were very helpful with organizing tours and other information needed. The room was more than adequate and in the center of town. The only negative is the steps you had to climb with your luggage (not a big problem), but was for some of the women in the group.

Great hotel located just 20 small steps up from the main square. A fantastic location in a fantastic place. Staff were more than happy to help with any requests and breakfast in the beautiful restaurant with the most amazing views was wonderful. We will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Amalfi.

Carlo, thank you for a wonderful stay. You made us feel very welcome and gave us very good information as well as showing us such hospitality by bringing us to the boat. I will definitely be coming back next year. I only wish I could come again in the autumn.

The room was were very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. The location was excellent as it was right in the middle of town. The price was competitive but they do charge an additional 10 Euro's per night for air conditioning. I wouldn't advise taking a car if possible as parking is expensive (18 Euro's per night at the hotel). Amalfi itself is beautiful and there are some lovely towns along the coast as well.

Very good in terms of what you get for your money in this notoriously expensive region and perfectly located right in the centre of the town. We were lucky to get an air conditioned room as only one was available so you might like to check this availability when booking (this cost us an extra 10 Euros a night). Staff were as helpful as you asked them to be but they didn't really go that extra mile unless pushed. Payment of things was slightly irritating as the air conditioning and drinks all had to be paid in cash and they would not accept card payments. The only card payment they would accept was for the room at the end of your stay. Also be very careful to check what may get added to your bill during your stay as you don't want any surprises at checkout when you come to pay. I found that this whole region of Italy was littered with hidden charges for things and you had to be careful to pay close attention to prevent yourself from being ripped off!

1. Poor directions. 2. Telephone put down by reception staff when phoning for details. 3. No mention of paying for car parking. 4. Noisy inside and outside hotel - neighbouring restaurant had tables under bedroom window. 5. Stay of 5 nights and bedding not changed once during this time. 6. Breakfasts workmanlike - I also don't like my coffee tasting of warm gravy! 7. WILL NOT BE BACK !

Generally a pleasant place to stay. Bedroom, Bathroom / Toilet in excellently refurbished condition. Rooftopterrace, -restaurant and -bar compared to Bedrooms in a rather poor appearance. Location of the Hotel is in a central pleasant surrounding. Limited carparking is available but access due to central location in the narrow crowded city a bit difficult. Staff is friendly helpfull and competent. Breakfast is very basic and offers only a limited choice and variety. Price may be adequate, may be for the time of the year on the upper limit.

Hotel in general was quite good - simply furnished, but nice enough, however there was the issue of half board. We would've prefered having the OPTION of opting out of dinner at the hotel. The food itself was ok, but it would've been nice to be able to check out the local cuisine in town without forfeiting the included meal!

Fantastic place to stay - only gripe is the location of the garage for the hotel. It is not clearly signposted on the map. Otherwise - a lovely hotel in a great place.
