It is further from the old town than it would appear. It is quite a good 3 star hotel but there is no private parking so it is a problem. We managed in September but imagine it would be a real problem in the summer.

The staff should be able til speak English. Only one person handled English ok. But otherwise the stay for 10 days was a mere pleasure!

Negative points: No parking facilities, uninterested personal at the reception desk, 138€ for a double-room in a 3star-hotel seems exagerated for me. Positive point: we could change our reservation date flexibly thanks to Alessandra, the Assistant Manager

Das Hotel ist sauber, preiswert und sehr empfehlenswert. Da die Wände nicht besonders schalldicht sind, würde ich einen längeren Aufenthalt nicht dort buchen.

As I was going with a friend I asked for a twin room but on arrival it was a double. We were changed to a twin with disabled facilities and wet room but it sufficed. I have stayed here before and the breakfasts are much better with more variety. The hotel is very central and would stay here again

A wonderful hotel! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the room excellent (with a balcony, even!) and we plan to stay there next time we come to Alghero. The only tiny little "problem" was the breakfast. As I can´t eat wheat, dairy and sugary products, there wasn't really very much for me to eat... However, my friend and I bought some salami and vegetables at a nearby store and brought with us every morning - felt a bit like bag ladies, really.

Travelling alone makes for expensive hotel accomodation; have to pay for whole room. Barcellona is a pleasant modern hotel - not much athmosphere but well located near the old town and with helpful friendly staff.

we stayed only one night in Alghero after an eveninig flight. very convenient for airport and hotel was easy to find - not only that it is close to the old town and allowed a pleasant walk out. room was fine as was breakfast.

Finding the hotel was a curious experience, as we had booked the Hotel Tarragona only to find it had subsequently changed its name to Hotel Barcellona! Fortunately there is only one hotel in the street so it wasn't a big problem. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area about 10 minutes walk from the old town and only a few minutes from the seafront. Our room was clean and comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the street. Only downside was breakfast was a bit meagre, although this seems normal in Italian hotels. There is plenty to do in Alghero, a delightful old town, nice beach, numerous good restaurants and bars, although food and drink is pricey. English is not widely spoken so a smattering of Italian is very useful. Went on trips by local bus to the Grotta di Nettuno(unfortunately closed that day due to bad sea conditions)and down the coast through fantastic scenery to Bosa. Also took the train to Sassari for a wander round the fascinating old town. Public transport is very cheap in Italy compared to UK. Would recommend the hotel to anybody visiting Alghero.

bad smeell in the room ,shower too small and,no shampoo and no gel shower, only soap hand!the breakfast not suficent for the price! no parking private only inthe street il thereis place! the name is'nt tarragona!!

The hotel looked great from the outside, really well maintained with a little terrace area, which would be great in summer. It's located in a residential area only a couple of mins from the main road and less than 10mins walk to the old town and the beach (opposite directions). The supermarket's just around the corner (no more than 5mins walk). We took a ryanair flight so got there fairly early in the morning. Although check in isn't until 2pm they were so kind and let us check in 5hrs early! Alessandra, the assistant manager, speaks great English but the other members of staff really struggle. Fortunately for me I speak Italian but I could see that causing a problem for non-Italian speaking travellers. The room wasn't so big for two people but it was spotless. They have a good system whereby you enter the room and insert your keycard into a slot and that turns on the electricity. I suppose the only negative was that it was still a bit cold (spare blankets are provided) but it wasn't so bad that we brought it up. The shower was great, ample wardrobe space, little tele, great little balcony and even the cleaners were lovely! Breakfast was brilliant. We read so many bad reviews about this before we left but in actual fact they had a basket full of fresh bread rolls, cakes, a selection of cereals, yoghurts, a hot drinks machine (yummy hot chocolate!)...and the breakfast area itself was lovely. All in all, this was a great find and a fantastic bargain. Well worth it and we've already talked about going back!

The breackfast is insuficient. The coffe are not good. One day the bread was over and there are no more. There's no orenge sauce and the others sauces aren't not naturals it cames from a machine. In the bath room the shower place are very small. Same problems with the warm air.
