Hotel Porto Bay Falésia - Albufeira

What a delusion... I read a lot of good reviews on this hotel before booking it, however with my great surprise my high expetations were disappointed, especially regarding the breakfast. My only tribute is for the beautiful pool and nice location.

Hotel was comfortable with good facilities. A good breakfast was provided but there did tend to be a scrum for tables at 9.00am. Did not use the evening buffet but tried the Italian with one good meal and the other disappointing with cold pasta served which the staff merely noted. Overall however very satisfied with the hotel service. The town was a bit grotty and rundown but there were a few good restaurants within walking district especially O Golfinho 2.

Walk the short distance to the fishing town of Olhos d'agua great pizza resturant ( Fratellis). visit the town between 9.45 and 10.30pm and watch the fishing boats being winched onto the beach where the fishermen sell their catch to locals Fabulous sardine festival in Olhos d'Agua 6 - 9th august - great craic

We have spend very good time in portu bay hotel, the staff were very obliged, the excurtion trip were expensive and not organised but this nithing to do with hotel. the hotel is excellent and certainly i would like to go again.

Excellent hotel in a fantastic location and very good service. However the only internet facilities were through swiss com costing eighty euro per week which was over 30% of the cost of the b and b. Not good enough in the 21st century. Other similar hotels in the area have free internet access which is what I would expect

Very nice hotel, and the stay, even is was not in the real season period, was perfect! warmly recommended, and surely next year we will go back!

My husband and I had a really enjoyable stay at Porto Bay. The location was perfect perched on a cliff top overlooking the ocean. The Falesia beach below was fantastic and we enjoyed our walks along it. You can reach Villamoura withing about an hour or so which has a really nice marina, pretty shops and some nice eateries. In our hotel the food was lovely we ate in Il Basilco the Italian a la carte a number of evenings and it was delicious, as were the buffet breakfast each morning with a huge selection of food types on offer - the pancakes were a treat! We tried the evening buffet on the Italian theme night it was really nice. Happy hour in Buzios bar is great between 5-7pm, the champagne cocktails worked a treat after a day at the pool. The staff were are really nice and we got to know a few of the bar staff who were friendly. The deputy bar manager even sent us up a bottle of champagne to our room on my husbands birthday. The entertainment in the hotel was not the best however they did make the effort. More suited to the elderly folk staying in the hotel. We would like to return to this hotel again soon and would highly recommend it.

My husband and I and 18 year old daughter spent 2 weeks at the hotel at the end of July. We had a wonderful holiday, the hotel was superb with excellent facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the views from the hotel were breathtaking. We will certainly be going back.

There were some great positives for this hotel, but also a few negatives. In general, fantastic stay! The positives include: amazing location/view, wonderful pool area and common grounds, plenty of chairs/umbrellas, free parking, value for the cost, friendly, english speaking, breakfast was good, semi-private and nice-sized beach! The negatives include: smaller rooms and not very aesthetically pleasing decorations (but I believe the hotel is going to undergo refurbishment), safe is not included/expensive rental, ocean view room is difficult to get (and my internet request for one was not received?!), no ice available for your room (that was very weird) - had to go down to the lobby bar to get a "cup," the happy hour drink specials were only at the inside bar only - not the pool bar, lousy fitness center, and the internet fee was a fortune (20 euros for 40 minutes)! The negatives are suggestions for improvement though; the place was great.

My girl friend and i stayed for a week in april 08 and both of us where really impressed with the hotel and no complaints what so ever and will definitely return in the future!
