877-662-6988Located in a green area, surrounded by gardens, pine trees, eucalyptus and mimosas, the Balaia Mar resort gives guests the opportunity to mix relaxation with sporting and recreational activities in the magic atmosphere of Algarve Coast and its beautiful beaches.
Hotel amenities include two restaurants (one by the swimming pool), bar with pool tables, video games and wide screen TV with sport channels, adult and children outdoor swimming pool, pool bar, supermarket vending fresh and frozen products, bread, ice creams, newspapers, magazines and cigarettes, gift shop and reception open 24 hours a day in summer and open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the winter months. Safety boxes, car, motorcycle and bicycle rental service, laundry service and reservations for tours and excursions, and for golf and tennis courts, available only 200 meters from the resort, are also available at the front desk.

THE STAFF AT RECEPTION WERE NOT VERY FRIENDLY, WE WERE ONLY STAYING FOR ONE NIGHT, BUT THE ROOM WE WERE GIVEN WAS RIGHT AT THE END OF THE CORRIDOR AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL, VERY DARK WITH ONLY A SMALL WINDOW WITH NO VIEW AT ALL. WE WERE GIVEN TWIN BEDS, WHICH WAS NOT PROBLEM, BUT THE ROOM WAS VERY SMALL. THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN AS WERE THE BEDDING AND THE ROOM HAD BEEN PAINTED QUITE RECENTLY. THERE WAS QUITE A STRONG SMELL OF TABACCO IN THE ROOM, AND THE FURNITURE WAS TIRED AND OUTDATED. THE BREAKFAST WAS NOT VERY GOOD, THE ORANGE JUICE CAME OUT OF MACHINE AND IT WAS POWDERED MIX WITH WATER. THE COFFEE WAS ALSO OUT OF A MACHINE, AND WE HAD TO ASK FOR COFFEE TO BE ADDED AS WE GETTING JUST HOT WATER. I FOUND THE RESTAURANT AREA NOT VERY CLEAN, AS WAS THE COFFEE MACHINE ETC. THE POOL WAS VERY LARGE AND THE AREA AROUND IT WAS ATTRACTIVE. WE PAID 57€ FOR THE NIGHT WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE STANDARD OF ROOM AND BREAKFAST WE GOT.

I spent 3 nights at Balaia Mar. Off-season (end of February/March). I happened to be almost the only visitor. It was nice and quiet but I do not have any idea how the situation will be when the hotel is fully booked.
